  1. As a footnote to this now 3 year old series of posts. I recenty bought a pair of these from eBay. These were manufactured in 2004. They were at some point shipped to Germany (I live in Berlin) from the U.S. The previous owner than posted them for sale and they were then shipped to myself via DHL. They survived all this without a scratch. Now that is quality.
  2. Hi all, Newbie here. I picked up a pair of RB-75's off of the eBay that the owner claimed were in like new condition and to my surpise they were just that, flawless with matching consecutive serial numbers no less. Turns out he bought them, listened to them for about 5 hours, repacked them for a move and never set them up again. They were for a second system. I had the RB-81. Nice and balanced sounding but the vinyl finish was killing me so I sold them on ePray and bought he 75s. I have wanted a pair of RB-75's for a loooooong time, and now they are mine... MINE I TELL YOU!!! Sorry, getting a little carried away So I have some questions... keep in mind I listen to strictly two-channel only. I do not own a television. I do have a 22'' monitor on my PC with high speed DSL. This however is hooked up to a pair of old Energy Pro's running through a Pioneer Amp. Good for the occasional movie itch. Music for me is where it's at. Anyway, my question. I was examining the loudspeakers and noticed that the foam inside one of the speakers is pushed up against the pill shaped bass port while on the other it is places back against the rear wall of the cabinet and the wiring for the woofer is visible. Seems that the foam placement is not consistent in both speakers. I want to open up the speakers and adjust the foam or replace this with some higher density foam acoustic foam. There are eight hex screws on the front baffle. Do I remove these to get to the innards? Do these screws attach right into the cabinet MDF? Once I have the baffle off I wanted to completely cover the exposed inner cabinet surfaces with this acoustic foam. Has anyone actually attempted anything like this? Is it even worth doing? My next question concerns amplification. I am currently running the speakers in a horizontal stereo bimplified configuration. I have the option of bridging the amps into monoblocks. This would give me @ 170 Watts per channel. As is is now I have one channel of each amp running the tweeter and one running the woofer with each channel producing 80 Watts. Each amp runs a single speaker. It seems to have a noticeable improvement on the sound. Has anyone else tried this with these speakers? Has anyone else noticed an improvement? Is running the amps in mono with more power preferred? I love the sound of these... One of the reasons I bought the RB-75 was the sheer audacity of the idea of sticking such a monster tweeter into a "bookshelf" (that would be one heck of a book shelf) speaker. I have read here that the RB-75 is primarily used as a surround speaker. Seems a shame to me. Is there anyone else out there using these strictly in a 2-channel rig? The RB-81 sounded great, really good. The RB-75 sounds very different, hard to pin down since this is only day 2 with the speakers, but definitely better. More than once while listening I found myself mouthing the words "WOW". Hmmmm, wonder what the Heresies sound like... In any case, I see tubes in my future
