  1. Rental no less. That's as far as I could get so far. I still want the silver Busa with the drag link and full header exhaust. But for now at least I'm moving forward. The FZ8 will pull itself and a rider to about an 11:31 1/4 @ 131. I forgot what the Busa does but the FZ would pretty much be going backwards by comparison. Be that as it may I get to take the day off, give a couple of young attractive ladies a thrill guaranteed to make them hang on for dear life (which I will be sure to see that they do) all under the watchful eye of my lovely wife. What could be a better way to kick off the weekend? One of the reasons I gave my wife was it would break me of the obsession. Well it might? Anyway members you've been great with all your advice, great pictures and amusing side notes . Cheers, Shake
  2. Audio Android, no doubt, the smile wii be there. Shake
  3. Hi Islander, He is a posing street, not so much racer, as he just enjoys the thrill of accelleration, so you can be sure it has been ridden hard. He has most of the stock items, but that's the main appeal to me, the look of the chrome arm against the silver/gray. I did have it checked so I think, even if I put a clutch in it , I'm not going to loose much at four thousand dollars. You see a lot of these priced cheap on the Internet but 99% scams. It's a risk, no doubt. Thanks, Shake
  4. Coytee, no I lookedit up and saw it was a,section of road if by he you mean me. Surprisingly it handles, just fine. Thanks, Shake
  5. All, here's the bike that I can get for cheap and I love the way it looks. It runs very strong but has not been well maintained. I'm probably going to go for it anyway since I could sell it as a parts bike for the four thousand I'll pay for it. I'm still floored by all the bikers among us. Thanks, Shake
  6. Mark, so now I know what the tail of the dragon is since you brought it to my attention. My priorities in this order are: 1. Pull the wool owe the wife's eyes...at least ong enough to get the money out of the bank for something we "clearly don't need"...she is highly intelligent, watches the accounts like a hawk, and will do bodily harm if she thinks it necessary (I could take the safe route and explain that it is something I really want and she will fold...but this will take weeks and for some reason will leave me feeling more guilty than the wool over method for some reason...guess I'm just a natural born fibber), 2. Try to get back and forth to work for a year or so with my life and license intact. 3. If wife, bike, or law haven't got me, consider the tail. Thanks, Shake. PS. I bet all the real men are just shaking their heads thinking "clown, just tell her and get the blasted thing!". Honestly, I probably won't get one this year unless I can find a screaming deal in the winter.
  7. Shu, the bulk of my riding is on open roads so the busa is going to be nothing bet fun,if I can avoid the tickets. Aside from your hatred of Busas, I must say that is one beautiful collection of bikes that looked to be maintained to the max. Good for you Man! Shake
  8. Islander, I know this wasn't the point of your reply but the 1000 or 1100'are bikes I'd ride as well. Tremendous straight line accelleration to about 60, which is about as fast as I would want to go. Plenty of awesome power to get on and pass on the expressway. Really, that's all I want the bike for. Lots of thrills and fun back and forth to work without getting too many tickets. I hate high speed tickets. Like I said, more than once, I'm 58 and not a crazy twenty year old any more. However, a lot of what I've read on the bike forums say the Busa is a pretty good and comfortable bike. You can get a nice used one pretty cheap. Thanks, Shake
  9. tiger, I didn't know they made such a convenient item! Thanks, Shake
  10. PS I hope I didn't leave the impression that I would be riding the bike crazy like I did twenty or twenty five years ago. Shake
  11. JL, I see your avatar besides this being your ninth bike shows something about your're love of bikes. Congrats on staying alive. Shake
  12. All, Wow, Its a real gas to ride one, everyone seems to agree on something of that nature! Quiet Hollow, with all your decorations I won't pretend to pull the wool over your eyes but I do have a story the meets your question. The answer to why do I want a busa is speed...roughly 180 to 200 mph of it. By the way, my wife doesn't know the name Hyabusa...just motorcycle...I'll tell her about Hyabusas, the day I sell it! Anyway, I was in a rush to make a wedding in Colorado Springs from Boulder. It would have taken me about an hour, if if remember correctly, to make and 1 1/2 ride to get there on time. So I tucked in and took off. Somtimes hitting 140 on my ninja 750. Just as I was getting off the Interstate, I saw the dreaded lights. "Get off and get down on your face" The young trooper was shaking noticably. The ride at those speeds in his new malfunctioning (I found out later) Mustang was quite unerving. The more I tried to convince him I wasn't a drug runner the angrier he got and the more he shook. It took many trips to Coldorado Springs to get my liscense back. Yes they can be unwieldly in traffic but oh the speed nearly 200mph. Seems I'll get spanked again but mabe at 58 I'll do much better. Wow, one deer took out two riders. They are treacherous. Very interesting story though. Finally, can see why you'd turn down rides from and inexperienced rider if tht was the motivation. Thank you all for reponding quickly and making me feel like one of the boys again. Its been a while so its nice to feel like one of the boys again. shake
  13. Fellow Potential Road Pizza, Just thought it would be fun to discuss these two hobbies with someone already in the mix. I'm pretty close but don't own the bike yet. It's a scary proposition after I've been so vocal about what a wonderful SAFE hobby we have. Now not only do I have to worry about my wife doing bodily harm to me over the hobby, now the hobby itself might get me! Shabusa
  14. Thank you Boxx, I noticed your systems and oh my goodness! What a gorgeous group. Shake
  15. Yes Ivan, I always have my eye out for a nice used pair of 39s. Shake
  16. Old T, That's the way I do it. It might not aways be the best choice because some speakers are set to work better in a particular system. However, in this imaginary world the price is the same. I don't think I could keep my mitts of the 27c no matter what anyone said to me under those circumstances. I have had both speakers and the 27c is significantly better and, in the real world more expensive. I got mine for 3k and I'll tell the buyer where in a pm since this very good seller asked me to be all cloak and dagger about it. They also shipped free and no tax.
  17. All, Miracously, it works fine now after being shut down for a few hours. Must be the boogeyman. Shake
  18. C, guess you're right. The part is about $60. Since it seems to work ok at one setting; It used to do this once in a while and then be ok when I unplugged it and it reset; I think I'll let it go for now. That old beast still rocks the house especially with its Paradigm mate that it works so well with. Shake
  19. Looks like random keystrokes. Any idea? Help! Shake
  20. Derrick, thanks for the compliment, encouragement, and your use of the word "brothers"; Very cool indeed.
  21. Tasdom, Took a look at your photos as a slide show and found your room to have lots of class. My Wife will like it which is very very good for me. Thanks, Shake
  22. All, I'm using burgundy curtains too. It dawned on me, most theaters have curtains. I'm using them to hide my electronics and to separate the basement areas so my wife can have access to light from the windows if she wants and I still get my enclosed space. I think I am also going to use exterior sliding glass doors...three of them to make a wall where there is none now. Of course I will use curtains to frame my screen as well. This is all in the planning stage now except for the curtains hidling the electronics and creating a wall where there once was none.. Our colors are burgundy, blue, and gold. Thanks for helping me to think this through as your theater sparked some ideas. Shake
  23. Gentleman, Here is the worst of it asthetically. Important though in terms of display. It will all be stacked on the rear left corner in back of the Theater. Thanks Again, Shake
  24. Thanks Dennie, The room is going to be worked to the max and tighter than a drum so that my very tolerant wife and neighbors get the quiet they deserve and I get the sonics I want. Right now I'm limited as to what I can do since its all going to change in less than six months. I'll be having an Audio Syndrome (local club) meeting in my home in the fall to get feedback and ideas from some real knowledgeable gents. Still, anything you say is a word to the wise and reinforces what must be done. Shake
  25. Hi derrickdj1, Yes, very embarrassing ones since the theater is slated to be finished in January. The Center is mute in Stereo. Thanks, Shake
