  1. I've searched the forum a few times and found reference to a timbre matching chart or matrix but the internet link is always dead. Does such a chart exist? It would be nice for newbies like me to know what would work well together. Something from Klipsch, not opinions from different people going different directions, but something solid to work with.
  2. OK, newbie question so please forgive me. The Heresy is timbre matched with the Forte II and the Academy? I've got a pair of Forte IIs in the front and an Academy at center. I've wanted to get a pair of Heritage speakers but figured they wouldn't match and instead have been looking for another pair of Forte or Chorus instead. Would a pair of Cornwalls timbre match with Forte IIs/Academy?
  3. I've got KG 3.2s for rears right now and they sound great with Forte IIs. I've got both 5.2s and 2.5s I'm not using that I've been meaning to put in the rear just to see how it sounds but never seem to get around to it. I'm off tomorrow maybe I'll give it a try. If the 2.5s sound good back there I may leave them in place just to help out with space issues the back of my room has.
  4. I for one can understand you feelings about your 3.2s. I've got a pair of OO 3.2s and 5.2s. They don't have the cult following of the Heritage speakers, or even the following of the extended Heritage line but they are great sounding speakers none the less. I recently bought a pair of Forte IIs and at first I wasn't impressed for twice the money of the price of my 5.2s, then after tweaking my Yamaha 663 I was thrilled with them. But now after A/Bing between them I'm not sure. Do the Forte IIs sound better? Yes. Twice as good? No. And you mention the look of the .2s and I also agree with that. I rarely have the grill covers on my 5.2s or 3.2s. when using them. They look great. Better than the Forte IIs with the covers off IMHO. The KGs have a full muscular look for lack of a better word. I've got my 5.2s and 3.2s listed for sale on here but I really don't care if I sell them. Thinking of using my 2.5s for rears until I find another pair of Forte IIs or a pair Quartets. I often ask myself why did I buy the Forte IIs and why would I buy another pair of the same or Quartets when I was so happy with the KG HT setup I had. Extended Heritage peer pressure maybe. Suffering from Heritage peer pressure too but they are so damn big!!
  5. They had no idea what they had. They said they were in nice shape, no damage, only knew they were Klipsch. Someone somewhere got a nice set of Klipsch speakers for free. Merry Christmas for someone!!!!
  6. Oh yeah I forgot the kick in the a$$ on this deal. It was posted under free stuff....
  7. Klipsch Speakers (Gleneagle) Reply to: sale-933786304@craigslist.org [?] Date: 2008-11-25, 11:12AM MST Two late '80s Klipsch Speakers--work great. A bit dusty from storage. Wood cases/black mesh fronts. No outside damage.
  8. http://cosprings.craigslist.org/zip/933786304.html I saw this about three days after it was posted and was too late. They said they were gone the first day they were listed. I asked what they were and they didn't even know what model, anything.
  9. Ok, no manual, just blind luck. If you go to manual setup, then basic set up, then speaker set, then arrow down (which was a mistake that worked!) go to LFE/bass out and mine was set to front so I switched it to both and the sub jumped to life. I know its said you should have the sub in the front but I've got mine in the rear left corner of my room with KG 3.2s set for small for the rear channels. For fronts I'm using Forte IIs set for large. So when I listened to music the Forte IIs did fine with the bass but with the sub it seems to fill better now with the sub in the rear and the Forte IIs up front. I'm no expert, just learing as I go so if anyone sees something wrong let me know.
  10. I guess I should say I'm having the same problem when I listen to music, movies work. I wonder if I've set something that my sub is only for LFE? Man I hate to get the manual out but it may be time...
  11. I'm having the same issue with my Sub-10 not turning on with my 663. Did you find a fix? One hint that I've found else where on the 663. Go into the set up menu, go to volume, and turn off DRC. Try it for yourself but for me the sound quality difference was night and day. I don't listen to my music that loud most of the time and with DRC on it sounded so flat and dull it was terrible.
  12. I've been jumping between 2 channel and 7ch enhancer and either way sounds great. This could be the rum talking but I think I'm in love!!!
  13. OK I'm going to rescind my earlier blasphemous comment about the 5.2s being close in sound to the Forte IIs. Remember not only am I new to Klipsch I just bought my Yamaha 663 too. I unhooked a wire on every other speaker hooked up to the 663 and redid the auto set up with just the Forte IIs and then listened to them on 2 channel without any help/hurt from whatever the setup did before. Again I'm new to the 663 so maybe just setting it to 2 channel would have done the same thing but I think before I had it set to flat (avg frequency response of all the speakers of similar quality) and changed to front (for fronts of much higher quality than other speakers). Anyway my point is after doing that and having no distractions from other speakers and other sound settings and found that I love the sound of the Forte IIs on 2 channel where as before I did listen to the 5.2s in 7 channel even when I listened to music. The thing that prompted me to unhook everything except the Forte IIs was that when I had it on 2 channel I kept having to get up and put my hand/ear up to the other speakers to make sure they were off. I think that speaks volumes about the sound stage of the Forte IIs. I swore that the rear speakers were on when they weren't. I wondered to the point I unhooked them to know for sure what I was hearing. My new opinion: The Forte IIs kick *** on the KG 5.2s!!!!
  14. The grills of the these are held on with magnets. Is that factory original?
  15. Well I got them home safe and sound. They are in great shape. The picture I posted really exaggerates the chip in the veneer at the bottom. He must have zoomed in at just the right angle to show the damage which is a credit to his honesty but when I saw it in person I was surprised at how little it really was.You can't even see it when it sits on carpet. $500 purchase price, $60 in gas and my time and I now own a pair of Forte IIs.They came with the original boxes and the original receipt. Its probably blasphemy to say but the difference between the Forte IIs and the KG 5.2s wasn't as big as I thought. Although I realize with front passive radiators of the 5.2s are not probably as sensitive to placement as the rear facing passives on the Forte IIs. I've probably got to spend some time playing with the placement of them and see how that helps.
  16. Oh wait I just looked at the fact page on the Forte II and : mid frequency horn 90°x40° Tractrix® Horn My bad rookie mistake!!!
  17. On the Klipsch fact page for the Forte II it says: tweeter K-75-K 1" (2.54cm) Polymer diaphragm compression driver high frequency horn 90°x40° Exponential Horn That cut and paste didn't work as planned but it worked. So is it a Tractrix or not? I guess I'll know for sure in a few days. I've got the 3.2s as rears now and they are up on stands so the tweeters are at ear level when seated. I've also got a Klipsch Sub 10 so the bass may not be an issue anyway. When you think about it if the rears are so seldom used in surround maybe I should move the KG 2.5s I have to the rear. Less speaker foot print may look better in the living room. But when I listen to music if I use the 7 speaker setting (even though I'm only running 5 right now) it sounds really good with the set up I have now. I'm guessing even better with Forte IIs in front and either the 5.2 or 3.2 in the rear. I guess that I didn't make that clear I use all the speakers when listening to music too, I don't switch to 2 channel. That is why I'm wondering if the Tractrix horn on the 5.2 will blend with the Forte IIs if they in fact don't have Tractrix.
  18. And if anyone has hints on speaker placement with the Forte IIs that would be great too.
  19. I'm going to pick up my new Forte II on Sunday so now I'm looking for advice on which speakers to use as my rears. Would KG 5.2s or KG 3.2s be a better match for Forte IIs in the front and an Academy as the center? My concern is that the 5.2s use the 90°x60° Tractrix Horn and none of the rest do. I realize the common sense answer is to try them both and go with what sounds best but I'd like some imput from others too. I use the auto setup on my Yamaha 663 so I always worry how the auto setup holds the other speaker back because of one (or a pair). I found this out first hand when I changed from the KG-2 to the Academy how much better everything sounded after the receiver reset the settings after changing only the center. The other problem with trying both and seeing for myself is you don't always hear much from the rears as you do the center and front. I guess I could focus on certain spots in a movie. Hook one set up, play it and then hook the other set up, redo the auto setup, then replay that same part of the movie. A lot of screwing around that could be saved if someone has already gone down this road before me. No point in re-inventing the wheel. I've got a set of KG 2.5s I may add into the mix for a 7.1 set up down the road. Have not been to motivated to do it yet, but I might. I mention that in case it makes any difference on which way I should go.
  20. I guess it would be better to ask this in a new message.
  21. Now the question is do I keep my KG 3.2s at rear or put the KG 5.2s there. Does the Tractix on the 5.2 throw the sound off?
  22. They will ride back in their original boxes, probably use a blanket to keep them from rubbing on things as dumb as that sounds. Original boxes... may as well keep them nice too!
  23. We settled on a deal this morning. $500. I pick them up on Sunday. I dread the drive but I can't wait to get them home!!!!!!!!!
  24. I noticed you originally had Chorus II's instead of Forte II, and you've got Chorus II in your signature so I just want to be sure we're on the same page. What is the price difference between Chorus and Forte? Between Forte I and II?
  25. Why does that picture look so crappy? Did I do something wrong?
