  1. I've decided to go with the pc 13 ultra. It's tighter, more musical, and puts out more than 2 pc 12's. This is according to SVS. All in all, it is their best sub.
  2. There is a guy selling 2 SVS PC 12 ultras with updated drivers and a samson s1000 amp for about 900 dollars. And there is a guy selling a almost new SVS PC13 ultra with the 750watt bash integrated amp for the same price. How much a difference does using the samson amp over the bash amp really make? I'm being told that the single pc13 ultra will be more substancial than the 2 pc 12 ultras. Can someone help me make a decision?
  3. Heat register? What do you mean? The closet is empy except for one dedicated circuit for the single outlet in it. And...NO DOORS on the closet... Do you suggest I move the speakers further from the front wall or not? It was confusing how you put it.
  4. Well..I don't have corner horns, I have legend series. I don't know if that rule applies to me? I thought you want to put treatments behind the speakers, but leave some room on the bottom for the ports to breathe. High frequencies are mainly the problem. The sound bounces a lot and it hurts... funny thing is that the low frequencies actually sound really good. Bass is tight and deep, but I do feel it could always be tighter, but the high frequencies seem to keep moving around the room. I might also be wrong...it may be 15x12...and the mains are on the 12' wall. Like I said before...it has to look nice...moveable wall partitions is totally out of the question. I have read a lot and understand I'm not in an ideal position...but I do also know that most normal people have to work with what they have...and through trial and error people have found that certains things really help, regardless of what the ultimate science of sound is.
  5. I am also concerned this double wide closet might be tampering with an ideal sound. Should this closet area be deadened inside?
  6. ...I would really rather not be bothered getting owens corning 703 and building these things myself, so I was looking at http://www.atsacoustics.com/item--ATS-Acoustic-Panel-24x48x4--1008.html I have a couple of questions first. Is this a quality product? They have the option to put an open back on on the treatment to leave a 2 inch gap between the treatment and the wall (they say this is best for bass-trapping). Aesthetically I am limited. It is a 15x15x9 room. I was thinking about putting two of the larger treatments behind the main speakers on the front wall. Should these have the open back or not? Is this the best place to put them first? I only suggest to myself to do it this way first, because...something is better than nothing, and I dunno how the lady of the house would feel about function over what looks acceptable.
  7. Haha. It makes me think the people on this forum have made me the weird one...wanting to hang huge speakers everything in the house. I had him over and was like..."what?, you don't have a whole room dedicated to nothing but speakers and a couch???" haha
  8. My buddy is looking for new speakers for his HT/2channel room. Unlike me, he is forced to get something based on size. He saw my KLF20's and said they were WAY too big. What's a good speaker that would suite a dude who's wife won't let him get something big like the 20's? I'm trying to convince him to go something klipsch, but he is hesitant.
  9. Nevermind, it was the magnet assembly in the arm. It kept falling through and wobbling the disc. The laser is still good.
  10. Since day one, the transport would make awful noise when trying to read a cd. I would have to open and close the drawer numerous times until it read the cd without noise. I was told this was the spring in the transport mechanism, and it was too tight. Well, a few days ago the player just started skipping...I turned it off, put in another disc and it worked fine for a while. The next day I put another disc in and it started skipping immediately. I tried another disc and it skipped...after trying it for a while longer, it eventually wouldn't even read the disc. I thought that if a laser started to go, it would take a few songs before it started to skip. Is it possible the noise I was hearing from the beginning has something to do with this problem? I found out that the laser is discontinued, so that leaves me shit out of luck, and that is really sad.
  11. Alright, my budget has decreased due to some other house stuff that takes priority. [*-)] I have decided what I am going to do next with my set-up though, and I think all klipsch lovers wouldn't object. I have a good receiver, I have a good cdp, and a good bdp. My sub is "sub"-par...but it works and fills in the lows. Very next on my list will be an SVS ultra. My main goal now, is to aquire 2 more pairs of light oak KLF-20's. I'm going big. 6 KLF-20s for a 6.1 set-up. I don't care if my room is only 15x15, i'm hanging those 20's on the walls and I'm gonna pump it up!
  12. The only problem with bi-amping is that I would need 3 more things. Two amps, and an active crossover right? Cheap sounds good for right now. What exactly is an I-pad and how would I use it? Would that 1/8" foam go on the actual horn itself, right behind the speaker screen? That sounds easy enough to try, but this I-pad has struck my interest. What is the ideal positioning for KLF's in a small room? Mine are in a 15x15 bedroom converted to a mini hometheater. I have them cornered right now, slightly toed in to the middle of the seating area and about 8-10" from the wall. I experimented moving them closer together and I really can't tell any difference, probably because the room is so small to begin with?
  13. Do most people agree that tubes take the painfully bright features of a klipsch speaker and make it sound warmer? I'm hesitant because using a tube DAC would basically make it pointless to use the CDP I have now right? I might as well play cd's through my blu-ray player? Are there other options or recommendations others have? Before I get into tubes...I would want new, seperate speakers for 2 channel, and also a seperate area for it (not gonna happen anytime soon). Will adding a seperate power amp help or not? I know that Denon receivers can add some brightness, so perhaps by adding a main power source it would change?
  14. tube DAC? isn't the DAC in the DCD-3520 one of the better DAC's? that's why I use analog cables from the player to the receiver. i hope i'm not getting into something where i actually don't like how the KLF's sound. maybe it's too bright for me?
  15. i've read yes&no on tubes making that big of an impact. considering I just put this DCD-3520 together, i'd rather stay inline with solid state.
  16. The more I listen to music, the more I am contemplating getting the SVS sub. I think you are right that it will be the most noticeable upgrade. However...those KLF-30's are in MINT condition since they are the original owners, and they don't even have much play time. 950 is FIRM though. The only reason I'm even considering is becuase it would make the center channel conversion so much easier to just use one of the 20's I have now.
  17. How would you exactly describe the difference between running then through my Denon receiver, as compared to using a seperate power amp and the Denon as a preamp? Just a simple 2channel, QUALITY amp... Is it really night and day, or is it one of those things that isn't exactly easy to tell the difference?
  18. Hmm...good point. I live in a house...so noise is no problem. I'm leaning towards the KLF30's since they are local and in good shape. A bit of a hard find.
  19. Here are my choices: KLF 30's in light oak...good condition. (would give the opportunity to change my current 20's into center channels) SVS Ultra w/Samson amp 2 channel amp Multi channel amp (there is a parasound for sale right now I'm looking at) Based on what I currently have...what would be your next upgrade?
  20. Yea, min bid is 850 on the Aragon, and it's 110lbs to ship. I think it's out of my range when it's all said and done. I sent a PM about the Parasound 2205. I am considering it.
  21. It's not just the bass...it's more of a thump AND a crack. The mids, the lows, the highs...it all comes alive when you move into the 85+db range. I want that in your face feeling, but without the listener fatigue. I have decided to use the 2808 as a preamp and started another thread asking for advice on amps.
  22. I finally decided on how to get the best sound and keep my HT and 2Ch setup combined for now. I'm going to use the Denon 2808 as a preamp and look for a seperate power amp. First off...can I have some suggestions on which amp works best with KLFs? Second...as far as pricing goes, should I look for a 2 channel amp and beef up the front 2 (since they will be used for 2 channel stereo often), or do I look for a 5 or 7 channel amp to take care of everything. Would I get a better amp if I spent the budget on a 2 channel amp vs a 7 channel amp? I'd like to keep it around 500-700 dollars or so.
