if you don't mind, can you describe the look of the grain in the b stock?

over the phone with a klipsch rep i was told there were imperfections in the grain that made the look of the speakers mismatch from speaker to speaker and also mismatched on the single speaker as well. is this consistent with yours?

also when you refer to the website speaker do you mean the larger photo with the lighter shade of tan or the reddish swatch below?

    thanks

    b

  2. wow this is shaking me a bit. i bought a pair of rf7iis at a discount from another dealer as part of a package deal and

was given a good discount for it.

when the speakers arrived i was a bit shocked to see the shade of wood was different from the pics amy posted as well

as pics of the cherry 7iis on the klipsch site.

these "off" color rf7ii's are the exact same shade as mine and sold as b stock because of it's off color.

i have never seen this acknowledgment till now with the above link.

i bought the center channel and surrounds as well. the center matched the fronts so i figured they were all like that even

though the official site had a different shade.

it has been about half a year since i bought them and now i wonder if i should make a stink about it.

was i sold a b stock set of klipsch speakers thinking i got a discount on an A grade set? seems like it.

    opinions?

the price i paid? 2400 for the fronts 975 for the center and 600 for the 2 surrounds (pr) seems like i paid 75 bucks more than regular b stock price

  3. i have the rf7ii's and just added the xpa5 to my tx-nr905 and must say that i am

a very happy camper. it makes a big difference. there is a presence in movies that

i feel i akin to sound i hear in really good cinemas.

music is clean and punchy, movies are dynamic and more alive now.

a very nice bonus is that i can even listen at lower levels and can hear dialog without

having to move the volume up and down to not disturb neighbors.

great bang for the buck right now that the xpa5 is on sale at emotiva.

  4. i did a similar lookup in the bay area and found a bunch of "retailers" all of them turned out to be some rinky dink home theater installer without a storefront and of

course no stock. you had to order them to see them at all.

good luck! hope you do better.

  5. how can you not like it. the center really does blend in well to create a seamless soundstage for movies. i don't have the opportunity to listen at very loud levels often

but when i can it is absolutely wonderful.

still have to notch up the volume when listening at lower levels but with this speaker it about 2 notches whereas the previous set it was 6 notches with two center channels hooked up.

of course you can always get an extra rf7 II for a center :)

  6. We use pro amps in our testing and most of our listening, even in one of our HT rooms.

As for tubes, take time to look up what they do. They are odd harmonic generators and belong in stage gear not home audio.

But that is just my point of view. PWK put the tubes to rest as soon as a good pro SS amp came to market. For the last 10 years or so that I was around him, I never found a tube amp in his house. Wait; there was one he used to hold the shop door open in the summer.

ouch! that is some endorsement for tubes. i thought i was going to someday get some for these speakers but now i'm not sure.

  7. starting to waver on the decision. maybe just the xpa5 for the whole set and be done with it. thinking about the outlets that these thing will need and the power requirements.

i'm renting my place and don't feel i'm gonna install a 20 amp socket into this place. am i thinking correctly here?

on the other hand i'm still discovering the character of these speakers daily. turned the sub up just a bit for music listening and it changed the sound completely. low volume yet makes the music have a solid presence in the room.
