  1. definitely hear more highs with grills off on my rf7 ii's
  2. orrb_05 if you don't mind, can you describe the look of the grain in the b stock? over the phone with a klipsch rep i was told there were imperfections in the grain that made the look of the speakers mismatch from speaker to speaker and also mismatched on the single speaker as well. is this consistent with yours? also when you refer to the website speaker do you mean the larger photo with the lighter shade of tan or the reddish swatch below? thanks b
  3. wow this is shaking me a bit. i bought a pair of rf7iis at a discount from another dealer as part of a package deal and was given a good discount for it. when the speakers arrived i was a bit shocked to see the shade of wood was different from the pics amy posted as well as pics of the cherry 7iis on the klipsch site. these "off" color rf7ii's are the exact same shade as mine and sold as b stock because of it's off color. i have never seen this acknowledgment till now with the above link. i bought the center channel and surrounds as well. the center matched the fronts so i figured they were all like that even though the official site had a different shade. it has been about half a year since i bought them and now i wonder if i should make a stink about it. was i sold a b stock set of klipsch speakers thinking i got a discount on an A grade set? seems like it. opinions? the price i paid? 2400 for the fronts 975 for the center and 600 for the 2 surrounds (pr) seems like i paid 75 bucks more than regular b stock price
  4. i have the rf7ii's and just added the xpa5 to my tx-nr905 and must say that i am a very happy camper. it makes a big difference. there is a presence in movies that i feel i akin to sound i hear in really good cinemas. music is clean and punchy, movies are dynamic and more alive now. a very nice bonus is that i can even listen at lower levels and can hear dialog without having to move the volume up and down to not disturb neighbors. great bang for the buck right now that the xpa5 is on sale at emotiva.
  5. i have the pc+ and it can shake you from the inside out. the pci should sound good too.
  6. i did a similar lookup in the bay area and found a bunch of "retailers" all of them turned out to be some rinky dink home theater installer without a storefront and of course no stock. you had to order them to see them at all. good luck! hope you do better.
  7. do you have the rf7 or rf7 II's? i think there would be a big difference.
  8. for some reason i thought you already received the center. i think you'll really like it. your comments about never getting rid of these speakers got me thinking. if for some reason they blew out in the future will we be able to get replacement parts? i can't ever imagine getting rid of them either or what a better pair could even sound like. not that i'm looking
  9. That's why you need a flatpanel for daytime
  10. Congrats on the projector! You will love it. I'm on my 2nd projector, a planar 7150 720p dlp. Going to go with a jvc rs50 for my next upgrade. Love my home setup. Going to the theater now is mostly a let down.
  11. That looks fantastic. Where did you get the center stand? I may have to score one for myself. Any chance of the cat tipping it over?
  12. Have mine cossed at 80hz. Tried 60&70 but the voiced seemed to lose the punch I'm used to. Do you have to get used to it? Also I don't have a beefy amp like you do. Been hesitating on the emotiva. Keep thinking I'll get the best price around black Friday even though they are currently on sale.
  13. how can you not like it. the center really does blend in well to create a seamless soundstage for movies. i don't have the opportunity to listen at very loud levels often but when i can it is absolutely wonderful. still have to notch up the volume when listening at lower levels but with this speaker it about 2 notches whereas the previous set it was 6 notches with two center channels hooked up. of course you can always get an extra rf7 II for a center
  14. stunning as ever! where you gonna put that thx sign when the center gets there
  15. ouch! that is some endorsement for tubes. i thought i was going to someday get some for these speakers but now i'm not sure.
  16. starting to waver on the decision. maybe just the xpa5 for the whole set and be done with it. thinking about the outlets that these thing will need and the power requirements. i'm renting my place and don't feel i'm gonna install a 20 amp socket into this place. am i thinking correctly here? on the other hand i'm still discovering the character of these speakers daily. turned the sub up just a bit for music listening and it changed the sound completely. low volume yet makes the music have a solid presence in the room.
  17. read somewhere that a cherry/red (cordovan?) shoe polish would fix this right up. thoughts?
  18. here's the photo you can't see this unless in good bright light and closer than 1 ft. it didn't seem worth it to send the speaker back to get (maybe) a better one. i got a good deal on the set so i felt it was fair as the speakers were obviously brand new.
  19. sounds like a nice upgrade path you have for yourself. wondering if i should go for the 3 then the xpa2 later on. then i'll have something to look forward to []
  20. really considering the emotiva xpa3 or 5. like the way they look and their rep for sound as well. anyone know what the best attainable price is other than ones listed? pm me please
  21. the behringer ep2000 sounds awesome and not too expensive but doensn't look like it will do surround sound. is there a way to integrate with a surround receiver?
  22. a very nice plaque. you are a proud daddy! hey i prefer listening to these speaks with the grills off. i think the highs get toned down a bit with them on. you have a preference? currently listening to "gling glo" album (bjork) wow that is one talented gal. most stuff already sounds great but this album is a cut above.
  23. Will it make a difference at low volume levels? I'm already having a problem keeping the sound from rattling the building
