One way to get tube amplification.
I just bought an H.H. Scott 299-C for $275 on Craigslist. Link with pics.
Find a used Scott, Fisher, etc. for a similar price, send it to NOS Valves to be rebuilt. You'll have a great vintage tube amp for around $700.

Mullini, there is some sarcasm here but also some suggestions.
I quickly read through what your AVC and LCD TV has. The AVC looks all self contained. Only inputs, and no outputs.
But I think an AVR receiver could still work alongside the AVC for tv watching. It looks like your tv has an optical out, so it would be possible to hook that up to an AVR receiver. That would then power your B3s.
You could also not use your AVC and use an AVR receiver to do all your source switching (CD, DVD, etc.). I think you'd have more home theater options in using a seperate receiver than using the AVC. Although I just skimmed the summary of it and might have missed something.
Look into Harman Kardon (here's mine, older but good: Link), Onkyo, or Marantz. Good luck.

Good luck in getting that Fisher, Boxx. This is my first purchase into tubes, and I like it so far.
Forgot to say, I bought this Scott for $275. The seller said he got it out of the garbage during the 'spring cleaning' garbage pickup in the Chicago area last spring. Makes you wonder what else is going in the trash that shouldn't be!

I've been turning off everything when not in use. My HK AVR525 has been going strong for 8 years with this on/off cycling, and it gets quite hot when used.
We went a step further. Last month we put all TV related components (Blueray player, Cable Box, and TV) on a seperate power strip. When not in use, we've been turning that power strip off. No more slow, hidden power being used when these components are in the off/standby mode. We keep the HK plugged in, otherwise all its presets are lost. I had doubts for a while, thinking the TV would somehow be negatively affected by being 'unplugged' daily. It has been fine so far.

Didn't know they generated this much heat. My son is 2 1/2 years old. If he manages to touch one after being warned, the words "careful, that's hot!" will have a lot more credibility in the future.

Drove two hours and forty mintues round trip to buy a Scott 299-C on CL yesterday. After some spray cleaner (Radio Shack) the switches behave and the unit works well. It's definately not something I'm going to leave playing music while I run an errand.
I've been switching it between Forte IIs and Heresy Is. Very nice.
Gotta save up some $ for Craig at NOS Valves. Too many stereo projects, and they all require money. How did I do that......?

The KGs won't give the midrange you've been used to with your Heresys, Forte IIs, and Cornwalls. Maybe that's a good thing - one reason to have a different stereo/HT in the other room.
The KLFs will be closer to the Heritage sound. Not saying they are close to begin with. You know what I mean.
Have you thought of bookshelf models RB-75, RB-5, RB-81? Height could then be adjustable, depending on what stands you get.
Edit: oops, just reread "Tower Type" in the subject. oh well [:$]

If the RF-5s are too large, you may be looking at the KG 3.5s, as they are 8" shorter. I'm assuming 'too large' means the height. Most KG floorstanding will be wider than the RF series, except for the extremes (RF7 vs KG 3.5).
Say you purchase a used pair in the KG line and like them......sounds like you'll still be wondering about the KLF 20/30s. [:|]

Yes, the mid diaphragms are phenolic. I asked Bob Crites, his words: No titanium midrange diaphragm yet. Two attempts so far have resulted in dismal failure. We do have a very nice phenolic diaphragm now for those.
I'm also curious about replacing ~15 year old mid diaphragms with new and what they would bring to the ears.

If you do not go KLF or RF 7 route, I suggest the KG line, too. The KG 2.5s would do well as stated above. But if you have the space, the KG 3.5, 4.5, or 5.5 would be great fronts in an HT setup. I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) a KV-3 or KV-4 would be an appropriate center channel for the KG towers.

Thanks for the safety tip, JMON. Also didn't know tubes could be that dangerous. Very scary and I will take all precautions.
