1. As someone who owns the HK3490, (Connected to a pair of Klipsch RF-63's) I can put my hand on my heart and say that it's a fantastic amp. You say that you don't use the extra channels on your surround amp; so you would be much better off getting the HK3490. Not only does it deliver more power, but it also has larger power reserves. (Larger power reserves = No clipping when you crank it) Good luck!
2. Funny, I just purchased that exact same amplifier for my 63's. It's got PLENTY of power, trust me. As for choosing between the 63's and the 83's. It's really a matter of what you can afford. The 83's will probably be better with the low end, just because the woofer size is larger. (8" vs. 6") however, the 63's still provide a ridiculous amount of bass if it's needed. Ultimately, it comes down to how much you're willing to spend. The 63 is an awesome speaker, (I have two of them) but if you still are undecided, I would say to find a dealer and check both sets out, and listen to which one you would prefer.
3. I'm currently running on a Harman Kardon AVR 146. (I will be purchasing both, an AVR 254 and will use the Pre-Outs on that amp for the HK3490) My plan is to use the 254 for 5 channel surround material (Movies, games, etc.) however will be using the Front L&R Pre-Outs for the HK3490 which will power the 63's. What do you think of this plan? (No, the 146 does not have Pre-Outs, hence this is why I need to get both the 254, and the 3490) Has anyone heard the 3490 and the RF-63's together? If so, how do they sound? How much better would the sound quality be with the 3490 vs. the AVR 146? (AVR 146 has 35wpc, the 3490 has 120wpc) I know it will be a very big jump, but, by how much would this sound better?
4. Likewise, it's been too long since my last post I really need to get on these forums more.

Congrats on the RT-10d! I'm looking at mating one of those with my 63's just for that extra depth I enjoy.
As for the financial crisis, it hasn't really affected me much (yet), as I'm still just in highschool.
5. Personally, I'd say to go with the Harman/Kardon. I have the AVR-146 (the smallest baby amp) and it still feeds my RF-63's without any problems. Later on down the line, I'm considering getting an HK 3490. I've had very good luck with them, as with a few other of my friends, their amps sound great, and are reasonably priced.

I would highly recommend them.
6. That's actually gonna be a problem with the AVR-146 as it has no Pre-Outs It's a shame because it's a great amp, but it just needs more power.
7. I was looking at the Outlaw 990 as a Preamp. I do agree with the brand matching---though, I've also been hearing some chatter about Emotiva. Does anyone know how well they perform, and how well they sound, and how well they're able to render even the smallest inaudible melodies?
8. I purchased a pair of Cherry RF-63's in January and love them to death, however they're still being powered with a stock Harman/Kardon AVR-146. The Harman/Kardon is rated ~30 watts per channel, and it's perfectly fine for casual listening of music, and watching TV shows, but, for movies, and loud listening of music it kinda just runs out of juice. I'd like to know, what are some really good amplifiers that offer power, very good tonal qualities, and depth? I've heard very good things about Outlaw, what do you guys think? As for price range, I'm flexible, as long as it's reasonable. (say no more than $2000) I already have my eyes set on a preamp. Anyways, I would just like to hear some of your suggestions. Thanks a lot!
9. I found the RF-82 to be a fairly relaxed speaker, but it's a rocker to depending what you play. As for receivers, I'd suggest either Harman/Kardon or Marantz. The quality is excellent for both, they're reasonably priced, and they have some of the cleanest sound I've heard in audio.
10. You'll be very happy with that setup. I've used Klipsch Quintet series speakers for about 2-3 years before getting my 63's. Though, when I had tested them, just for kicks I tested the 82's and they were a very good speaker. Between those speakers, the RC-62, RW-10d, are great too. I have not heard the RS-52 myself, but, I've heard from some owners and they're satisfied. That'd be a good buy.
11. Hey Nuggits, Welcome! Good to have you here. Is it finally thawing out up there in Oregon? I'm in Sacramento and we could sure use a little of that wet stuff down here. You guys sure have been "hit" this year. I hope your above the water line. As far as my favorite albums, just take a look at the "Right This Minute" thread and you'll see what a lot of us are listening to. I have this one in the player right now and I just love it: Dennie Hey Dennie, thanks. Actually, we thawed out quite a while ago ('about 3 weeks ago). Though, some areas got hit harder than others. During the week of Christmas, we had about 2...2 1/2 feet of snow in my driveway, so, leaving the house wasn't much of an option for 2 weeks, but, once it went away it was gone. Thanks for asking!
12. I'm trying to build up a larger music library, and I'm interested on what you guys listen to and think is awesome. P.S. You're welcome to post multiple albums/artists [] The more the better []
13. Awweesomeeee; To me, they sound absolutely wonderful, between their smoothness, detail, depth, and just their sheer size. I can't imagine them getting better But if they will get better.....*sigh* so be it
14. The Very first thing I played on them was "Up" by Peter Gabriel, followed by "Happiness & Disaster" by Stabilo, then "Brand New Day" by Sting. After that I couldn't play that much more because it was 10PM and my mother was about to yell at me for annoying the neighbors while they're trying to sleep Through, right now I'm about to stretch their legs a bit
15. Yea, my room isn't very ideal at all. The Right channel is a mile away from me while the left is pretty much in my lap (There's an L-Shaped desk in a corner) I did move both of them a bit forward though. I'm a little surprised on how good my HK handles them though. I can see why you said you loved it for music
16. Here's a link to the photo set on Flickr if you wanna see some pics Enjoy 'em! If there are any other angles that you wanna see them at, lemme know The Camera used to shoot them was a Nikon D80 with a Nikkor 18-200mm lens
17. Haha, I see you point I'll be uploading some pics to Flickr and I'll post a link when they're up. I've mainly been just enjoying their beautiful sound, and gorgeous cabinets. Klipsch, you have outdone yourselves with these.
18. Wow, I gotta give some credit to Vann's; I ordered a pair of Cherry RF-63's on Monday evening and they came Friday afternoon! w00t! If you wanna see some pics, lemme know. I've only been playing them for a couple hours, and they sound....Stunning. I love them!
19. To enjoyment! Question: I noticed that a couple people have uploaded some unboxing pics to either here, or Flickr, or some other service. FedEx tells me that they're going to be here on Monday, what do you think; should I do some unboxing pics too? and now 70% to enjoy them
20. Hi, I'm new to the forum. I've always wanted to own a pair of Klipsch RF-63's but, they were just a bit out of my price range (I'm still 17) and I've been looking at them for almost 5 years straight so far (that's right, since I was 12) I was about to purchase a pair of RF-82's because I don't have any speakers that can provide any decent quality of sound. I have a pair of headphones, which are almost 80% blown out and provide me with nothing but listening fatigue, and headaches (not to mention the distortion, ugh). However, this week I found a pair of RF-63's at Vanns in Cherry for $599/each. Brand new, sealed in the box, with free shipping! Over the weekend, I found a dealer locally and listened to them, and I must say, I'm impressed. They were powered with a whimpy little Onkyo amp with 18 gauge wire, but still sounded quite impressive. (Better than a lot of setups I've heard before) My question is, what amplifier would you use to power these sweet mamas? I currently have a Harman/Kardon AVR-146. I ordered a pair, and they're coming in about a week, so, I'd like to get to know as much as I can about them. My room I wouldn't say is ideal, but, rough estimates ....it's about 18 or so feet wide, and 14 ft long, with an 8 foot ceiling. Thanks a lot! P.S. I visit the forums a lot, to find out some technical information and I must say that this is an awesome community, and I do hope that I'll be able to participate more as time school, and my internship work out.
