Isn't that 2400 a year for the supplement and the cost of Medicare ?

That's the cost of the Supplement alone. I have cancer. First in my chest. Then a hip. Now brain stem. Chemo/radiation eliminated the first two. In follow up scans along the way the cancer came back. I've had it all now, it appears. During these 2 1/2 years the treatments were every 2 -3 weeks. The cost for each of those treatments ranged from $21,000 to $14,000, per visit. Original Medicare covers 80%, you pay the rest. The supplement (private insurance) I have costs $202 per month and pays the remainder, including the Medicare deductible. You do the math. I tell you this to inform you of the things that should be of importance to you, in your life. Not for sympathy, I don't need it.

Those things you posted above are banned on this Klipsch forum. This thread could be blocked or eliminated completely. You could even be banned if you continue along that vein. That's the Rules here now. Those things you spoke of are insignificant. Those things will soon disappear like Harvest Gold appliances. The things you should be concerned about are things that will affect your own life, like pensions (disappearing), SS and Medicare. Those things will directly affect your ability to live. Even the best speakers are unimportant when you are dead. I don't know you. You may be set for life. But even if you are you will still pay for those that are not. This Great Country that you spoke of will never allow that. There's a massive cluster coming in the future. Pay closer attention to those Reps that have the ability to effect your own life. Let the chaff fall where it may.

Good luck to you in your life. You can't control your life but you can guide the direction of it. We all reap later in life as we have sewn earlier. I sick of seeing people suffer.

  2. Haven't been following the thread since early on and just finally listened to the video (afraid to before). Excellent. Enjoyed the video even on my laptop. Thanks for that. I've paid more for cowboy boots than that. If not for health issues I would have bought these early on. No s**t. Congrats Mopardamo.

That was a bummer about all the damage Mexico Beach had.

Are these current pics? Looks wonderful.

I wonder how St George Island held up?

Those pictures were from late summer 2016, the last time I made it down that way. West PC.

    Hey mcobb,

This is Madman here. I’m sorry these guys jumped on you like they did. I’m the guy who suggested you come here because I thought these guys would be interested. They can be a bit rude. I’m also the one who told the group the price you were asking fort them, only because they were blasting questions about price and location and I thought I could help answer them. Guess I was out of line for saying anything about the price. I apologize to you for saying anything about price and now I apologize for suggesting you come here. SORRY!

That old 'one bad apple' thing applies here. Let it go, both of you. Lots of nice dudes here. And they know stuff.

We just sold my Dad's home just north of Panama City. It was nice having a vacation spot within a 11 hour drive. I really like their beaches, but they become insanely crowded during certain times of the year. We would go farther east on the coast, Mexico Beach is nice, but I really fell in love with St George Island. It isn't nearly as crowded, and has everything right there on the island.

Too bad about Mexico Beach, it was a nice area.

We used to vacation in Panama City every year.  I also lived in Daytona for 6 years and we would camp in the keys.  I've seen pretty water and beautiful beaches.  The ones around here can't compare though.

We used to go there when I was in my teens. Much has changed since then in PC. My favorite place to stay there is a house on FB Road across the street from the beach. Built around 1951 and quaint. Several years ago my cardiologist asked me what we did for fun. I told him the longer more detailed story of my favorite time away down there and he asked me what exactly what we did there. I told him we relaxed. Told him we lay around on the beach hydrating and then go eat seafood. I said that it was the purist form of relaxation that I knew of. I told him he should go with us sometime. He gave me his cell number. I must have been convincing. Take the time friend.

The other comment was to yank oldtimers chain. He loves it.

  7. Things change East of the Mississippi. And there's that quartz crystal sand. Powdery and soft. Try to get down farther east sometime Carl, if you're adventurous. Down towards the big bend. Old small towns. Old white clapboard house with blue trim, palms, rope with a few buoys strung around. Get a galvanized washtub and 40 pounds of ice. It gets humid, bring plenty of hydration. Toss it in the tub with a few pounds of Reds. Don't forget to check the legs on that old chaise lounge before you sit down. Check the calendar in about a month.

Or, you could check out that fish poop sand on the beach's of HI that we read about.

Maybe Eldon will check in. He's been around.

  8. I read the paper late in the day in 1994 and the local brick & mortar dealer that I patronized was going out of business. Epic CF-4's were advertised at $1250 each, buy-one-get-one free. I called for a hold on a pair, got there and we couldn't find the matching speaker to the pair. That was the cost then and they are still worth that now. If they are as pristine as you say and a popular veneer I would price them at $1500 and let them soak, unless you are in a hurry to sell. JMO

    Good luck.

It's hard to get an out the door price on a stock unit.  Really the only way to compare prices is to build one in the vehicle configurator like you're going to order one.  Call the dealers and give them the options you want and ask for a price or percentage off msrp that they'd sell it for.

Thanks Carl. I'm respectful of salespersons and walk in as educated as I can be and offer a fair price. I just refuse to participate is a process that kills the enjoyment of buying a car. It's worked for me since 1994. We'll see. Take care.

One of my medications, breathing inhaler $340 a month.....so yeah, it would be a bargain

Sounds like Incruse Ellipta there Fish. I remember head-figuring around $13.35 a hit every day. A rip. I used it after radiation. The radiation affected the lung and esophagus. My blood oxygen saturation has been 98% for over a year now so I've trailed off using it daily. Noticed no difference myself. I almost feel bad paying my $29 a month drug plan and co-pay and them paying the bulk. They do that only because of that dang old government regulation. We don't need no dang government interfering with our lives and making less and less drug billionaires at our expense. Anyway, hope for the best for you up there in Cornfield County.

2400 a year.  Most working people cant or wont pay that.  But they would wish they had with the first major problem.

I was in the middle of treatment for a pre-existing condition (C). Those other policies offered by private insurance companies included the words 'requires underwriting' or 'does not cover pre-existing conditions for 180 days'. Went with regular Medicare. I figured I could pay dental and eye care. Medicare reimbursed around $7900 per visit and the supplement paid the remainder, around $2000. My prior employer provided retiree insurance reimbursed several thousand more than Medicare. The visits have been every 2-3 weeks, which varied by chemical, going on for 2 years and 4 months now. No way I could have paid that sum of money to stay alive. So, right here in this glorious fantastic country that we live in and elect individuals to represent our best interests we see no mention or movement in solving a problem that will take everything many poor working stiffs work all of our lives to earn. Many will face the choice of losing it all or facing an untreated death for themselves or their family. It's a matter of utmost importance to me. I post this with the hope that it may make someone more aware of what can happen and to protect themselves from what can happen.

  12. Hey Carl I thought about you earlier. I've got Camaro and Challenger literature from 2013. I've waited patiently since then for the cars to mature into what I want. They got there in 2018. For background, I usually offer a fair price for a car and allow 45 minutes before I shake the salesman's hand and walk out. The last car I bought I called a dealer 50 miles away and asked him to write down his Stock # and my out the door price. Call me back within one hour. He called back and said it would be ready at 3:00PM.

Talked to a out-of-state salesman last week via the www. Few sentences but to the point. Got the old canned response. DELETE. Do salespersons out your way talk the talk or is it still the same old hours long Dealership BS.

    HEALTHCARE INFORMATION UPDATE

I had good Healthcare coverage my entire adult life. Rarely used it. On my 65th birthday I signed up for Medicare, of course. I can't control what happens in my life but I damn sure can control the direction. I ain't a gambler so I bought a supplement that pays everything Medicare doesn't pay, including deductible. Cost $202 a month. There's no telling what my care has cost since thus far. Since my birth month I have never received a bill. None. Nada. Zilch.

Hope that smidgeon of information helps you younger whippersnappers thinking of your own future.

Keith---saw a new bit of the same old info today.  40% of americans don't have the savings to handle an unexpected expense of $400.  50% of americans have no retirement savings.  The worst bit is that 33% of working americans do not even have access to a 401K or other retirement savings vehicle through the work place.  Not only that---it's raining here again...

I worked from my 24th year until I retired with overworked always tired edgy dudes. We never talked about finances. So I was mildly shocked by the results on workers during the first shutdown. The disappearance  of pensions, underfunding of SS and Medicare, high cost of health care, drug prices, low wages and those things you mention are a recipe for a future disaster. Of course those that are not currently affected are not as concerned but the thing is that ALL working stiffs will be affected and they will pay in the future. It's a giant forming cluster.

Related: Talked to a guy the other day about widow's benefits. He was motivated. Couldn't get him off the phone. I commented that he must enjoy his job. He said he loved it and told me about his previous job. He said he had worked with people that earned 6 figures, even 6 figures two or three times over. He said they seemed no happier or better off than he was. I told him as people move up the economic chain they just buy a bigger house, a newer car(S) a boat or whatever, maintain their indebtedness on a higher scale. Anyway, he quit after one year. Stress.

We'll see what happens this Friday. Current events are funnier now than real TV. You just can't make this s**t up.
