  1. Well folks, I hooked everything up today as a biamp and... I can definitely have some fun with this. A definite large improvement in the bass range. With the driverack pa there is almost too many options. Anybody have any good slope curves for the EQ? I am definitely going to have to educate myself on all the tweaks possible. I still think I will wind up going back to the Wright 3.5 monos for the tweeter and horn as the "sweetness" is gone but I do understand the d75 if I could properly tweak it.
  2. LOL, that PWK sounds like he was one colourful character... but with a fine ear. Once again, thanks Chris.
  3. hey chris, just wondering if you are running caps in line with the tweet and mid? Also, another can of worms... specifically any suggestions on capacitors? I have read about the V-caps but ouch on the price. For this situation would it be worth it or any other recommendations.
  4. thanks for all the info. folks. It is muchly appreciated. My 2 d75a's should be in next week and this should definitely help the process. I also have a set of altec horns and some tube amps so I will be plenty busy for the next while. I will post my thoughts as things progress.
  5. Ok, I finally made a decision on triamping. This is the clearest image I could find on the topic(link below). I was curious about the "DC block" as well as any other thoughts and opinions. Initially, I have decided on Crown K1 for the woofer and 2 crown D75-a for the remainder. All run through DBX driverack PA and starting off with a melos Ma-333 with nos 6922. http://www.rocketroberts.com/techart/multi_amp.htm The triamp config.
  6. I currently am running 2a3's along with other tube configurations. I am looking to build a solid state system for day to day listening (radio and just to have it on) and integrate it into a home theatre possibly. I would like something warm like a mcintosh and also something to bring out the bass. It doesn't have to be the latest and greatest, vintage would work as well. Any and all suggestions are appreciated.
  7. I am looking for the spec sheet for this speaker. 8 or 16 ohm etc. Can anyone help?
  8. I have a set of 1980s klipschorns with the AA crossover. I am just setting up the altec 1005b with 288 8k drivers. I plan to biamp a crown K1 to the woofer and eventually a yamamoto a08 to tweeter and horn. I also have a DBX driverack PA for the electronic crossover. I am looking to figure out the passive crossover. I am new to all this so please be gentle lol. Any questions comments etc would be appreciated.
  9. A Yamamto dealer is just getting set up in Canada and I am considering this purchase. Anyone heard or using this combo? Any opinions?
  10. Alright, thanks to everyone out there for your input. It looks like I am going to be trying both the Crites and the ALK's. Now I have to figure whether to get the Crites CT 125 or not.
  11. Thanks muchly for the reply. I know that from the forums that I have read that it is kind of been wrote to death. I like the idea of bob and KLF but just for interest sake what would be the best bang for the buck for caps and even rewiring. I don't mind spending extra if I am going to hear a difference. That said, I am quite happy with the sound, just would like to bring it up to current standards.
  12. I just recently purchased a set of early 1980's Klipschorns with the AA crossover. I would like to upgrade the crossover without completely changing every part of these wonderful speakers. Currently, this is my system; Harmon Kardon Citation II (Jim Mcshane level 2 plus upgrade) with Gold Lion Kt88 Melos MA 333 Plus Series with Amperex Bugle boys 6922 Modwright Transporter Currently stock but have EML Mesh 5u4g and Shuguang Black Treasures CV181z enroute PS Audio power plant premier Nottingham Spacedeck with Ortofon Rondo Blue and original arm Garrard 301 with SME 3012R and Denon DL-103R Artemis Labs PL-1 original tubes I also have several sets of Purist Audio Design Venustas Praesto interconnects enroute Any questions, comments or suggestions are muchly appreciated.
