  1. I agree with the statement about the stairwell sucking the bass. The 63's are actually 7 inches from the wall, I read about that on the forum, so I moved them forward. I think I might try moving the sub, I can always put it back! The setup doesn't sound bad by any means, I just want more!!! afterall, this whole HT think is awful addiciting [] Thanks for all the advise!!! I will have to live with it until I can build an addition, or a new house.....RIGHT!!!!!
  2. These photos are older, but represent the room characteristics. On the Right you will notice that there is a stairwell, on the left is a hall way, and a doorway leading into the kitchen (not shown). Probably not Ideal, but the only way it can be arranged. The room is rather small, but I made speaker purchases for future addition to the house. Unfortunately I have to live with this arrangement a bit longer. The best bass can be heard half way up the stairs, or in the corner where the other recliner is. The sub is currently next to the R speaker but I have considered placing the sub behind the couch in the corner to help balance it out. Any suggestions??? Good point on the acoustics, I guess I really never took this into consideration, FNG Here!!!!
  3. Well I got the Acurus A150 hooked up and to be honest, I don't think it sounds any different that the H/K did stand alone?? The bass to me sounds flat. I am not getting the pumch that I was hoping for. The amp was immaculate though, and seems very well built.
  4. Yeah, my RF-63's were listed as Klipse instead of Klipsch. Good rule to follow Capt. Thanks!
  5. Well I pulled the trigger on the Acurus 150 from the guy that Bill recommended. I paid 265.00 shipped. My plan is to use this for a while, then keep looking for a a200x3 for the fron t, then move the a150 to the rears. I may have some questions when it gets here so keep checking. BTW, thanks to all that have given their advise. Very helpful!!!
  6. Well the Acurus a150 is more in my price range right now. There are also a few B&K ST 2140's I was looking at. The local guy still has the BGW 500D that is rated at 200WPC. He was asking 275 but I think he would go down more, it has been listed for a while. I just never heard of them?? Oh what to do????
  7. Well Bill I registered on Audiogon, emailed the guy up the road with the 3- ch Acurus at 0200 in the morning. He emails me back and said he just sold it this morning WTF!!! That was a great find too Anyway he has a several Acurus amps for sale, but they are all 2 ch. I think I would be better off amping the whole front stage, do you guys agree??? I'm getting frustrated, I want an AMP NOW!!!
  8. I have not had much luck finding "deals" on Ebay. Mine have all come from Craisglist but you definitely have to be patient, continually be looking and have some cash on hand. Good luck with your search. Yeah Ebay is hit or miss. I just found out about CL last year, I was stuck under an ebay rock. I actually found a pair of MINT RF-63's just about a year old and a Sub-12 on craigslist for 750.00. I have been looking at CL but have not been able to find much, there is a guy local that has an Onkyo M5140 110WPC and a BGW 500D which is a 200 WPC DJ Amp but not really what I had in mind, plus I think I want to amp up the center too. I just signed up on audiogon so hopefully I find what I am looking for there.
  9. I like the Emo gear, and I have visited the site oh...6-7 times. I am so undecided right now. I do think they look better than any of the amps out there, IMHO.
  10. Well Tommyboy, thanks to a power outage, the auction ended before I could put in my last min. bid. NOT HAPPY!!!! I am watching another one, and also some rotels. I am waiting for that unbelievable deal, but I am also getting impatient!!!! I WANT IT NOW...just like that credit card commercial!!
  11. Thanks Willand, Bourbonais is just up the road about an hour. I actually went to college there. Okay brace yourselves, I am about to ask some really stupid questions, but I am still learning!! 1. If I were to buy a 100wpc amp, would that be 100 in addition to the 75 that the H/K puts out?? If not, then what happens to the 75WPC?? 2. Should I be looking for a 3 or 5 channel amp instead or would I be okay running a 2 ch with my center and surrounds un amped??? 3. How many watts do I need to really kick the woofers of the RF-63's. I am a drummer and I know real bass first hand so I want the chest thump hits!! Okay when you guys are done laughing, please respond [*-)]
  12. Yeah, this thread reinforces my decision to amp up my new H/K 354. It sounds good, but as a drummer I know the sound of real bass kick first hand and my RF63's just aren't there yet. It's as if they are being starved of power. I am a loyal H/K guy and this receiver so far is serving it's purpose but I need more low end. I have found an H/K 5 channel amp that is older, is rated at 80WPC x 5 but I wonder if it will be enough?? I also found a Carver 5 ch amp that is rated at 110 to the 2 fronts, 100 to the center and 50 to the surrounds. The carver sounds screwy to me with the different wattages?? Any suggestions??? The models are H/K PA5800 and Carver AV 405
  13. Man, I really like the looks of that EMO, anyone using one, have any comments or feedback.
  14. This Guy is asking 100.00 for the onkyo M5140 and the BGW 500D he want 200.00 for! What do you guys think??? Which one and are they worth the asking price???
  15. Well I found a local guy here that has 2 amps for sale, first one is a BGW 500D which is a 200 WPC DJ Amp. It is HUGE and Heavy!!! The other one is an Onkyo M 5140 which is 105WPC. I am stuck here at work so I haven't looked at either, but plan on checking them out tomorrow. Any thoughts on either?? Anyone using these?? They seem vintage, but this guy has tons of tube amps so someting tells me he is a long time audiophile
  16. couple hundred bucks right now. Like I said, I don't want to blow the windows out, just need tp supplement the H/K when I am listing to 2-ch.
  17. Hi Guys, I am wanting more power for my 2-ch stero listening. I am currently using a H/K AVR 354, which is great for the HT, but I feel like my RF-63's are starving for power when I am listing to CD's or the Ipod. I don't want to blow the windows out, but I want a bit more thump. Can anyone suggest a decent amp that won't break the piggy bank??
  18. Perhaps crap is a poor description. I am using a sub12. I did run the auto set up several times, when it's done the sub is turned off, so I have to go back in and change it. So I'm supposed to set the mains and center to small??? What about the rear surrounds? I am at work now, but I will give it a try in the morning. Like I said, I am a rookie at this so bear with me!
  19. I hope this isn't a silly question, and I know it shows that Im a rookie at all this, but I am at a loss on how these are to be set. The front mains are set to large which seems to be adequate. I tried to run the Ez-Eq thing, but it sounds like crap and all I get done is changing it around. I am running an HK AVR 354. Any suggestions??
  20. Story of my life, a day late an a dollar short!!! It might take more than one, depending on what she looks like!
  21. I agree, I have a decent set of Bose rears. I know they are not well thought of but hey ya use what you have! So does anyone have a cherry RC-64 that they are ready to part with, or know of a guy that knows aguy that thinks he might know a guy that has one []
  22. THANKS JAMESV, I would think at that price I could def. talk the wife into the wall mount. Next question, should I save to buy the RC-64 or the RS for the rears, I can't justify buying both now so I need to pick one or the other. Regardless I will be wrapping up a G either way I go!
  23. Good points! I will have to convince the wife on the wall mount. The mounts are so expensive, any advice on finding one for a decent price, online stores???
  24. I just added a pic of my system. Right in front of the tv stand is not an option, it is the walkway into the house. My living room is about 10x20. I would be putting the CC where the AVR is now in the picture. The TV is mounted on a glass stand, whick takes up almost the whole top of the stand.
  25. Hi Guys, I am a NOOB here and to the HT world, but I have a love for good music and home entertainment. I also have a new love of Klipsch. My friend bought a pair of RF-63's and a SUB12 a few months ago and then his job was eliminated (unheard of huh) so he was in need of money more than speakers. These speakers were used a total of 2 hours tops. I brought them home and hooked them up to my old H/K AVR 80 and fell in love. I have never heard anything that sounded so good and clear. Well that started the ball rolling, I had to buy a new AVR (H/K AVR 354). I have a Infinity CC, but want to voice match the fronts, so I have sold that and need to replace it with a reference series CC. I have done some research, the only CC that will fit in my cabinet is the RC-52. I really want the RC-64, but it is way too large for my entertainment area, and really probably overkill for my small living room. Come to think of it the RF-63's probably are too but I will most likely move to a bigger home in the future. I found a really good deal on an RC-52 for 220.00 shipped, but I worry if it will be okay with the rf-63's. It really isn't an option using anything bigger, the wife is about to strangle me now the way it is. Any thoughts, advise?? Anything has to be an improvemnet over the old Infinity Video 1 CC right???
