Great system! Curious about the differences you heard from the Mc gear and the pass gear? Also why are you selling the tubes? I love them on the CWs.

I would say biggest difference between Pass Labs and McIntosh, which I heard, was the Pass Labs was possibly a little more clean and "analytical" sounding.  I personally prefer the McIntosh front end with the Klipsch Cornwalls.  Relative to tubes, I have a McIntosh C-22 preamp which I'm currently using in another system.  I don't intend to sell the C-22 and will likely bring it into this system in place of the C-28 sometime in near future.  I also have a refurbished Scott LK-48 integrated amp which I sometimes drive the Cornwalls with.  I'm always impressed with the Scott and Cornwalls.  At some point (would need to sell something I currently have) I would like to try a Single Ended Tube amp.  I've never heard one perform, but there are many posts describing how well they perform with Heritage Klipsch speakers.

    Very nice setup.

What made yo sell Clearaudio turntable over Denon? Is it going towards the vintage direction or something else?

I listen to vinyl, at most, 10% of time, the rest of time I stream music.  While I enjoyed the Clearaudio turntable, I had owned a Denon previously, and regretted selling it.  The vintage look and convenience of "auto stop/lift" make it more desirable for me.

  3. Just an update to my Cornwall system.  Sold the Pass Labs amp/preamp and Clearaudio turntable.  Now using McIntosh amp/preamp and Denon turntable.  I've yet to put original crossovers back in - just enjoy their sound too much as they are.

  4. Thanks for comments.  I've been sufficiently impressed with the Cornwall speakers with ALK X-overs performance - I put the Pass Labs equipment in place of McIntosh front end. Also added turntable to hear how vinyl sounded.  I'm extremely pleased with how this system sounds.  It images extremely well and the soundstage is both wide and deep.  I intend to listen to this system as is for several weeks and then put the B3 X-overs in to hear difference which the X-overs make.

  5. Getting ready to simplify my systems over the next several years as I get ready to retire and relocate.  I have some nice McIntosh pieces, which I intend to keep given how they perform - plus I'm a fan of the older McIntosh pieces.  I decided to find a pair of Cornwall speakers (I've owned several pair in past and like their performance and their flexibility with matching up to low power amps) to use with the McIntosh pieces.  Picked this pair of Cornwall I speakers up Saturday in Rochester NY.  Single owner speakers, wth original cartons and a set of ALK crossovers in addition to original B3 crossovers.  Hooked them up this morning and happy with how the system sounds.  Only pending change, as I sell other systems, is replacing the MC2105 amp with a McIntosh tube amp.  Very glad to own a pair of Heritage Klipsch again.

  6. As I don't use my Home Theatre much - I have a pair of Forte II speakers I'm using for my front speakers. I use a KLF C7 for my center speaker. The RF 7II are better for home theatre than my Forte speakers - just don't use them enough to justify the higher cost.

  7. Selling my Cherry RF-7 II speakers purchased earlier this year from forum member.  Speakers look and perform terrific (I have grills also), just don't use my home theatre system enough to justify keeping them.  I'm asking $1,650 on local CL (Chapel Hill, NC) but would sell for same price I paid ($1,500) if sold to Klipsch Forum Member.  I'll be happy to send more photos if anyone is interested.

  8.

The RF-63s have left the house with new owner - very nice gentleman from Raleigh.  I'll miss them, but have freed up the space I took by purchasing the RF-7IIs from Mike yesterday.  I plan to listen to the 7s for rest of the day.  So far, I like what I've heard from them.

Congrats on both your sale and your new speakers. The 7iis are really nice speakers. I really enjoyed my time with them. Are they going to be 2ch only or are you on the look out for a 64ii?

Ultimately, I believe they will be for Home theatre only.  I'm currently listening to them in a 2 channel system - have to say they perform quite well. I have several other speakers which I will use in 2 channel systems on a permanent basis.  I currently have a very nice KLF-C7 center speaker, which I like very much.  I've had an Academy and RC-7 center also - ultimately preferred the C7.  I may at sometime look at getting a 64 or 64II, as I'm sure they would be a better match for my RF-7II speakers.

  9. Nice collection of speakers cjmustang69.  Have fun with the comparison.

Thank you - I enjoy listening to speakers designed with different approaches.  It is interesting to hear the strengths/weaknesses of each design.

I may have limited time to compare the RF-63 to the RF-7 II speakers.  A gentleman is stopping by this afternoon to look at the RF-63 speakers.  I just hooked them up to the front end (described above) for the first time this morning.  I don't think they ever sounded better.  I'd like to keep both pair, but just can't justify it.

  10. I see some vanderstiens(I believe, and I don't know how to spell it, if they are...very interesting speaker) back there...almost look like timeframes

Good eye - you can see a pair of Vandersteen 2CE-Signature speakers and Quad ESL-63 USA monitors in background.  Both are very nice in 2 channel system.

  11. Today was the day I was to meet Mike and pickup the RF-7 II speakers I had purchased on forum several weeks ago.  Mike and I met as agreed and everything went great.  Speakers are in excellent condition and it was nice to meet Mike also.  I appreciate Mike waiting several weeks to complete the sale.  I bought these speakers without knowing for certain if I would use in a home theatre setup or a 2 Channel system.  I decided to try them first in a 2 channel system and keep my RF-63 speakers in my home theatre system.  I have both speakers situated so it will be easy for me to compare both speakers in my 2 channel system over the course of the next few weeks.  My 2 channel system is Sanders Magtech amp, Pass Labs X-1 preamp, Weiss DAC2, Logitech Touch, Clearaudio Concept Turntable, and Pass Labs Xono phono preamp.  I'll post my thoughts on the RF-7 II and RF-63 speakers in near future.  I also included a photo of my Chorus I speakers, which I have listed for sale to clear some room for the new Reference speakers.  Mixed emotions about selling them, but something has to go.

  12. Good luck with your sale on the Chorus speakers. They look to be in great shape. I think you are going to be very very pleased with the RF7iis I’m brining you tomorrow. They will require some break in time as they have never been used before. Again GLWS

Look forward to meeting you tomorrow and picking up the RF7IIs.  The Chorus speakers I've listed are in very nice condition - cabinets, drivers, and grills are all excellent. I would hold onto them, but just can't justify keeping them with my purchase of the RF7IIs.  I primarily listen to 2 Channel rather than Home Theatre - and have several  2 channel systems.  I have several speakers which represent a range of  speaker technology (Magnepan, Quad Electrostic, Vandersteen, Klispch) which I like to rotate through.  I just can't justify having 3 pair of Klipsch due to space and time limitations.

  13. They would make some nice surround speakers with them 7II's. Nice price too! GLWS!

If I had more room in my Bonus Room, I'd consider keeping the 63s, Chorus, and RF-7 speakers.  I just won't be able to use all three pair of speakers.  I thought either the 63s or Chorus speakers would have received more interest than I have seen so far, but may have been too optimistic.  If need be, I'll have to put together another system in another room in the house to make use of these Klipsch speakers.  (Not a bad problem to have actually!!!)

  14. Selling my lightly used 4 year old RF-63 speakers.  They are in excellent condition and have minimal marks on cabinets.  Grills and drivers are as new.  Only reason for selling is recent purchase of RF-7 II speakers and inability to utilize all speakers I have.  I'm original owner and have owners manuals, spikes, cartons, and most(but not all) packaging materials.  I'm located in Chapel Hill, NC and asking $800 for local sale only.
