  1. I live in a flat and I cannot listen at very high levels but the bass should be come out.

This and room acustics may be the reason. If the Forte's are functioning correctly, not even at their best, they will kick out the base. They are rated to 32 HZ, lower than some sub's.

If you are unable to run the current or put the watts through these things, I don't think you will get what you want.

We need sound pressure levels, even with high efficiency you need to push the drivers. IMHO.

    I agree.

I notice at low volumes my Forte IIs don't put out as good a sound as they do when I turn them up. I know my Cornwalls sound much better at low volumes than my Forte IIs do so it may just be the nature of the beast. But if you turn them up the bass is there for you with the Forte IIs!!

That is exactly how I hear. The Cornwalls walk all over the Chorus II/Forte II/Quartets at low to medium volumes. Its at higher volumes where the Cornwalls get left in the dust.

At low volumes I personally like the addition of either loudness compensation or tone controls. It keeps the speaker more even top to bottom. A stepped attenuator to lower the mids at lower volumes would probably be even more beneficial.

To clarify that last paragraph. I feel those compensations are only needed on the less than optimal recordings.

  2. I think thats why some Chorus/Forte owners are pushing so hard for the group to accept those speakers into the Heritage family. They are great speakers but don't fall under that same umbrella of respect that the currently accepted Heritage do on this forum.

Excuse me? Nobody pushed for anything. Chorus/Forte have been unamed basically for 25 years. Klipsch announced that they are Heritage not any of us end users. I don't remember anyone saying please, please name the Chorus/Forte Heritage.

If Klipsch says that Chorus/Forte are Hertiage then thats what they are. They did design them you know. They do own the company. They can call them any damn thing they want to. If they say my Chorus II's are Heritage who are you to tell me different?

Its more of the Cornwall fanatics getting all worked up. I've had Cornwalls side by side with my Chorus II's in my house. I know which one is better.

  3. Wow, my bracket is trash. I guess I will start pulling for the local boys. Kentucky Wildcats- this town needs a good party.

I figured those local boys would of had you hung by now the way your were rooting for everyone but Kentucky! [^o)]

  4. Hi First of all I'm sorry of my poor english. I'm about to sell my pair of Forte II because they lack of... BASS !! I read one similar thread here and i start to think that I never found the right amplier for them. I gave them : 1)"exposure xv" integrated amplifier (30 w) . The bass did not come out 2) Densen dm10 integrated amplifier (75 w). More powerfull but still the same problem 3) Jolida 202a integrated amplifier (30 w of tubes). Great matching with horns but still the lack of bass 4) Conrad Johnson PV 10 preamplifier + Trend audio TA 10 T-amp !! (10 w) . Great transparency and soundstage but still the same problem. To partially solved the problem I added a JBL subwoofer P8400. The bass improved of lot of course but there is not lot of punch. I own also a pair of JBL monitor 4312 and the JBL bass is there in all its magnificence , tight and with punch. So I decided to transfer them in the main room selling the Forte but...first i would like some advise from you: 1) Is the Forte able to deliver a JBL bass, tight and with punch ? 2) what ampli do you suggest for raising this bass ? Anyone tried a powerful and relative cheap CARVER ( M 1.5t for example ) ? One last thing : I live in a flat and I cannot listen at very high levels but the bass should be come out. Thank you Ran

The bass of my Fortes has been described as jackhammer like, for reasons why see my thread here for photo's and the threads last pages for some Klipsch owners comments that have heard them. The problem is not your gear so much as its the wimpy networks IMO and I listen with just 10 watts!

    http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=159340&page=12

    Cheers

    SET12

I understand you have fancy networks and all. I'm sure they sound excellent. But almost everyone who owns Forte II's know they produce bass. These things aren't wimps at any stretch of the imagination. He either has something wrong with his speakers or it is just a matter of location from the wall with the passives.

My Chorus II's can hit like a jackhammer and my networks are stock. I just use a different approach. I use an insane amount of power. By power I mean the kind that can control a woofer. Some amplifiers talk the talk but just cant walk the walk.[:D]

  5. I realize the Heritage name carries weight in the Klipsch world which is why we'd like to attach speakers we love to that name but I don't think its proper to add what is clearly a different speaker to the Heritage family tree. I've got to think anyone who has owned both Heritage and Extended Heritage would see and hear the differences and agree. I could be wrong, its happened before!

It's going to be hard for some folks to get use to but it is what it is.

  6. I'm gonna start a thread on Marantz gear. Anyone got a problem with that? AngryWink

    Oh yeah.....Chorus's rock. Yes

Sounds like an awesome thread to get started.[Y]

Those KLF 30's you got aren't to shabby either.[;)]

  7. I am sorry my friend but you're the one that needs to go back to grade school arithmetics.

For the sake of argument, lets say the the Forte I is manufactured from Arpril 1985 to May 1989. April 1985 to April 1986 is one year. April 1986 to April 1987 is two years. April 1987 to April 1988 is three years. April 1988 to May 1989 is four years and 1 month. For it to be five years, it has to continue to be manufactured from April 1989 to April 1990. Even if the speaker is manufactured from Jan 1985 to Dec 1989, that's only 4 years and 11 months.

That is not how a business model works. I would know I've owned one for 20 years.

Refer back to my previous post.

  8. If you must hash this out, use private messages. This can be done without witnesses.

No problems here. This is a big boys room. If anyone wants to send PMs, Emails or just a good ole mono to mono bring it.

I've been around here for going on 10 years never had the first issue.

The point being if people dont like this particular family of speakers or don't like the way Klipsch has decided to label them pass on by this thread. Trouble makers arent welcome.

This thread was intitiated for the lovers of this family of speakers. Now we know exactly how they are labeled. Its not "Useless Trivia" in the least to some of us its pretty freakin cool.

  9. I am afraid you got it wrong. The Forte I's lasted 4 years from '85 - '89. The Forte II's lasted 7 years from '89 - '96. The Chorus I's lasted 3 years from '87 - '90. The Chorus II's lasted 6 years from '90 - '96. The Forte II's were made after the end of Forte I's. The Chorus II's were made after the end of Chorus I's.

The Quartets are also a Heritage (lasted 7 years from '89 - '96).

The Heritage series include: Fortes, Chorus, Quartets, Heresies, Cornwalls, Belles, La Scalas and Klipschorns. Only the Heresies, Cornwalls, La Scalas and Klipschorns remain in the series since they are the core Heritage.

Forte series actually lasted 12 years. 1985-1996. The original Forte was around 5 years and version 2 was around 8 with both versions being produced in 1989.

Chorus only lasted 10 years. 1987-1996. The original was around 4 years and version 2 was around 7 with both versions being produced in 1990.

Hey Neo, I really hate to embarrass you but you might want to work on your math skills. Lets work through this a moment. In manufacturing if a speaker is manufactured from 1985-1989 how many years was it produced? Ok lets try this, 85,86,87,88,89. Get it now and if we are talking taxes then for the same production run taxes would be due 86,87,88,89,90. Hmm thats 5 years too.

Also the Quartet is part of the Forte II/Chorus II series. You need to do a little more homework before you jump in this argument.

The Forte family was manufactured for 12 years and the Chorus family was manufactured for 10 years. This is grade school stuff.

  10. As I have stated before, the Forte and Chorus series have always been Heritage. Though short-lived Heritage. The Forte series lasted 4 years and the Chorus series lasted 6 years.

PWK had his hand in all of them.

But the Chorus line has been around my home for 20 years so production time means nothing to me. I'm just glad they made at least one pair for me to enjoy.

  11. I was suprised to see the little black bookshelf speaker in the mix. Tongue Tied

If you read closely you will see they are called NON-Heritage.

"So under Heritage they reside until a better structure can be determined. These vagabonds include the NON-Heritage products: Rebel, KSS and Shorthorn".
