  1. Ed,

I have the 32" Wega which weighs #188....The 2X4 bracing that I added gives me peace of mind, but I'm sure that it would have handled it without, but was concerned with the over time effects....I am positive that it will handle a 36" Wega.....Wega's are weighted towards the front of the set so be sure and anchor the back of the set to the back of the Belle so it doesn't tip forward in a quake or such....be sure and pad it well....I used towels for padding on top...works fine if you tuck the ends under the set....no shielding problems

  2. Figure on buying new output tubes...7591's are hard to come by and are expensive NOS, but EH makes new 7591's that sounded very nice in my MC225....small tubes are cheap for decent new ones....How handy are you with a solder gun?...Going to want to tear it apart and replace caps etc....Good luck...Tubes rock

  3. Mike,

I saw those on e-bay....while I don't necessarily disagree wuth the sentiment, there are better deals out there on these amps than these pair....got mine for $900 from Audio Classics awhile back...small tubes were JJ's and TF....replaced the outputs with Svetlana KT-88's....I also have a MC275 reissue that is the equal to 2 of these in my opinion in spite of the pc board vs point to point wiring debate....

  4. The issue for me is not who owns the company, what country they are from, but rather how good is the product and how well do they stand behind it and provide customer service....This preamp sounded outstanding in my opinion..my frustration is with the bozos that I have dealt with thus far that represent the company and the crap tubes that they have put in them....they can keep the chinese tubes and send me a coffee mug or something....going to replace them anyway

MH....what Mullards 12AX7's do you use in your Cary?...any recommendations on the 12AT7's?

  5. rowooo,

The C-15 is a great preamp, especially for the price....Been waiting for the new Mac Tube C2200 for a couple of years...Would have gotten a C-22, but really wanted the remote control...The C-15 is a no frills C-42 for less than 1/2 the price....doensn't have tape loops or a small amp built in, or balanced in's or out's...none of those were, or are an issue to me...sonically the same.....mine will be on e-bay on Friday....
