Yeah....and if you want to take the time, you can run the whole length of the stranded wire thru the vise and upgrade your old stranded cable to solid core....save yourself a boatload of money too.....

Ok....Here's the deal....Take your 12 ga speaker wire....bear off about 1 inch from the insulation...get a vise or a large hammer and smash the crap out of it....voila....12 ga wire in a 14 ga size....

I'd look on E-bay and score a Mcintosh MX113 for about $350, and a MC2105 for about $650....The MX113 is a tuner/preamp combo.....That should do it....

I found out where Bose gets it's speakers.....

Mr. Blorry,
Do you think anyone really cares what their status below their avatar says? Enough to run up their total posts by posting frivolous short posts, or asking questions that have already been asked? Maybe they should have a special status for those folks....NO LIFE....

Anyone know the website for the CES? I understand that Las Vegas is very crowded that weekend and I want to get the dates to make hotel reservations. Any nice hotels within walking distance? Sounds like a good time.

Tom,
The loudness control shouldn't put a loud hiss through the tweeters. Mine doesn't (C-15). Anyone with a C-33 have this problem?

And they are purdy.....Any kit builders out there need a couple of AA and one AB crossover?

Ray,
Thanks for the tip on the Audioadvisor folks. I called them and they have a deal on bulk Slade cable, which is a step up from even the new CV-4 and way better than the old type-4. The old type 4 was going to cost me $4/ft locally. (plus tax). Audioadvisor just bought a large amt of Slade that they are selling for $3/ft. Holy cripes that's by far the best deal out there. They don't have this listed on the website, but if anyone is interested call them, it's available. The Audioquest site has the details on the differences in the cable types. Thanks again Ray.....

I am using old Monster cable now, so I'll hook up a pair of the type 4's as before, then go ahead and hook up the other pair bi-wire, and listen for the difference. That way I'll be sure it's not just the Audioquest wire vs the old Monster.

Just got my ALK crossovers this week and am going to go ahead and bi-wire them. I am going to need alot of cable as my runs are long. Decided on Audioquest Type 4. Anyone recommend an internet company that sells bulk Audioqust? I will put on the spades myself. Thanks for your help.
Fred

This is true, but....what you lose in connectivity, you gain in convenience....Locktite works better than Super Glue and sets up faster
