  1. I am overhauling my crappy desktop this summer because I can simply no longer handle the terrible pc. It's specs right now are: 366mhz celeron some crappy e-machines motherboard 64mb ram diamond monster fusion zd100 16mb video crappy on-board crystal audio chip 5gb hard drive this was originally in an e-machines case, but the power supply they gave with the computer couldn't handle my not-that-much-power-guzzler video card. so i took everything out of the e-crappy case and bought a new one with 250watts power supply. now that i am doing an overhaul, i will keep the current ATX case, but upgrade the power to 350watts. these are the specs I hope to have when i overhaul: 1ghz athlon thunderbird asus k7 motherboard (i don't remember the model exactly, and i'm too lazy to go find it again) 128mb ram at least, prob 256 same video card as above until i get more dough sb live! x-gamer 5.1 30gb hard drive here's the main part of this off-topic post: i plan to give my case a paint job, probably with orange and green color. the reason i have posted this is because i was wondering if there is any certain kind of paint i should use, and whether it is a good idea to do this or not (are there any drawbacks?). i can't wait because my pc will be good and good-looking. i'd appreciate any response. *zen
  2. I know Paragon and others have much patience, but that is one thing that I lack! I bought my 4.1's at planetminidisc.com on Monday and they're gonna take a week to get to me!! (3.20.01) Ahhh! What do I do for a whole week?! I chose the free ground shipping for orders over $50...if you order from there, and live on the East Coast like me, get at least 2nd day air! Or else you will pull your hair out! Well during this waiting time, I have re-arranged my room so it is acoustically correct, if that is possible I just wanted to warn those who dare to buy from California-located dealers... *zen
  3. Thanks guys, I now have Audiograbber with the Fraunhofer Radium MP3 codec to encode mp3s, and it makes really high quality mp3s. Billie Jean, the encoding takes a long time for me too so you're not the only one. Thanks again. *zen
  4. i know this is very off topic, but what is the best cd ripper available? i know seb and paragon can help *zen
  5. thanks for this list of stuff skaplaya. *zen
  6. yeah, there's no reason why it shouldn't work. all you're doing is changing the sound input for the speakers. i just order the 4.1's yesterday and when i get them i'm going to be hooking them up to not only my computer, but my cd player and minidisc on occasions. have fun. *zen
  7. let me clarify that, i was going to buy from soundcity, but they're out of stock!! so i ordered from planetminidisc. thanks for the tip huskers. *zen
  8. I just ordered my Klipsch 4.1's!!! Yay! Well I wanted to let all of you know that I ordered from planetminidisc.com and they now have 5 sets of 4.1's left, so I suggest you order quick if you want one. Standard ground shipping is free at planetminidisc, so you only pay exactly $299.95. It's a great deal. Arghhh! I can't wait until it comes!! *zen
  9. just out of curiosity: for those of you who have ordered and received your 4.1's from soundcity.com, what shipping did you use and how long did it take for the speakers to arrive? i was wondering because i am about to order them, and it would be great to have an expected time (i used the ground shipping). thanks, *zen
  10. soundcity.com =================== I'm not sure if they specifically have the CP-1 but I know they have lots of Klipsch products, because they are an authorized dealer, so I suggest you check that place out. *zen
  11. Dammit!!! I can't get a single thing right!!! Today is the 10th so tomorrow would be the 11th. Sorry everyone, but you have to bear with me. *zen
  12. oops I meant 3-10-01 as the date *zen
  13. I called them also and asked how long those 5 sets would last and they said they would definitely be gone by tomorrow (3-10-010 so get your orders in!!! *zen
  14. Actually, you're wrong. If you buy the new 4.1's from soundcity.com then all you pay for shipping is $13.95 plus the cost of the 4.1's ($279) *zen
  15. What's the difference between the original 4.1's and the "new" 4.1's. I'm really confused... a/s
  16. sorry about my earlier post, i got confused and thought you were talking about the 2.1's compared to the 4.1's rather than 4.1<--->4.2 /a/s
  17. I finally have the money to dish out on one of these ProMedia v.2-400 speaker systems and I don't know where to get one. I have heard that they have stopped making them, but that they can still be found to purchase. If anyone could give me the full scoop, much appreciated. Thanks. /a/s
  18. quote: "i'd throw myself in front of a mack truck to save my 4.1's" hahaha...that would be hilarious. but you realize that in the end, you and your 4.1's would be gone....ah, a sight that would be
  19. The 4.1's are definitely louder. There may not be a tremendously huge difference but you can tell if you upgrade. I mean, the 2.1's are $200 and the 4.1's $250, you might as well dish out the extra $50 for two more satellites and more volume and power. If I were you, I would upgrade right away. One question though, what is the upgrade cost?
  20. Thank you . I found the bass test song on Napster. later
  21. A while back, I remember someone posted a link to an audio sample that they had made themselves which was a good way to test the bass on the Klipsch's v.2-400 speakers and sub. I have long lost the link, and would really appreciate it if the person, or someone who has the link, post it again. Thanks in advance.
