  1. I had a pair which were driven by an old Denon and mostly listened to vinyl via a B and O turntable. Nothing fancy, just good clean stereo sounds. I listened to a bit of everything, but mostly 50's jazz, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, lots of acoustic music. The sound was utterly amazing. Warm, clear, vibrant, consistent. These speakers made believers out of Bose snobs, people who believed that the best sound could come out of a small speaker would close their eyes and melt into the sounds. Klipsch makes a lot of speakers, and they come in all sizes, lots of configurations, and I am wondering if there are any other speakers which sound like the old CF's? I liked the look of the speakers that I built a small record rack which was the same Cherry plywood... I forget the stain I used, and painted black trim which matched the trim of the speakers pretty well. I do miss these fine speakers.
  2. Really older speakers which have been in storage for many years. Playing them through a Denon AVG 3000, which has a ton of power. Bass rattles and sounds like poop. When I touch the speaker and kind of hold it against the enclosure the pounding goes away but I am standing so close that I have no way of evaluating how they actually sound. I contacted Klipsch and they told me that there is no foam surround and frankly I cannot tell if the speaker was glued to the enclosure. I guess I need to replace both Bass, but I am wondering if there is a fix to this problem. Thoughts? Thank you, Mike
  3. Any further thoughts? I need it. actually they are paper covered particle board so I'll pass on these. Now, to the KG-3???
  4. I found a pair of KSB 2.1 in Rosewood for a hundred bucks. Nothing in the RB series and only one other set a KG-3 for two hundred bucks. This kinda works because I am going to send my MMC4 to be rebuilt. NOthing like getting one's system up to snuff. What da ya think about the speakers? Mike
  5. They look fine, but cost as much as a set of Epics. Outta my price range. Thanks tho.
  6. When I owned a nice big house and had room for a sound room I had a pair of Epics, driven by a Denon 3000. I love vinyl so the whole thing was more than satisfactory, it was freaking wonderful. Those speakers are long gone, as is the house. I now live in a third floor flat in San Francisco which I share with my Old Lady and two other people. We kinda took a vote and I have been allowed to set up the Salon as a sound room. I rebuilt my Technics turntable and am going to repair my two Beogram RX-2's, and am now looking at speakers. I have been carrying around a set of RG 1's for about 45 years and they are not sounding too damned good. I understand from Klipsch that there are no re-coning kits or anything available, which will upgrade the speakers so am looking for something smaller... and within a rather limited budget. I loved the Epic's for all of the normal resons. Warmth, clarity, how clear they sounded at either high or low volumn, and natrually they were incredibly beautiful. I am going to have to make my purchase via Craigs List or some other cheap place so am looking for suggestions as what to buy. Is it even possible to find that great sound with a smaller speaker? Thanks for reading, Mike
  7. As you can see I don't have a sweet spot either. So I stand in the center of thee room and just sway. I have looked at most of the threads , trying to get some sweet photos of sound system rooms. I have no interest in movies whatsoever. I like vinyl. My turntable is a B and O Beogram Amp is Denon 3000, Speakers are Epic CF-4's. This is my second set of Klipsch's. My first I bought in 1972 and still have em.
  8. I guess I am in the wrong forum. Klipsch,I had hoped to see photos of sound rooms, not TV rooms. Bummer
  9. Hey Brother, you gotta balance that lamp on the right spaeker... and where did you get those sculptures? I have a plaster one of Satchmo. But can't find any more. Nice setup...
