How about a round trip from Tampa? 😎

ha, that does seem to work.  But oh my, that's a lot of driving.  I usually tap out at 4-5 hours for the day (and that's if I absolutely have to).  Will have to do some soul searching for this, I suppose.  I'm not sure what the rental plus hotel, gas, time, etc will compare to finding someone to strap these to some pallets and shipping.

we also ran into something with a "local" rental where the agreement said it could not be taken out of state.  I'm not sure if that's a thing or not anymore.  I know we tried to rent a car to drive up to Charleston one summer a few years back just to save wear and tear on our vehicles and ran into that.

  2. its strange, its very tough to find a bigger vehicle for a one way trip.

I have a good corporate acct with Avis, if you use pickup and dropoff in Nashville, there's a van, pickup, full size SUV, pickup, etc.  When you change to a 1 way trip dropping off in Tampa, all of those become unavailable.  Now it make sense because even on expedia, there were very few, if any, bigger trucks avail.  i bet if you change the search to a local rental, a ton of trucks will open up.

    5x8 Cargo Trailer Rental | U-Haul

Any issues with using a rental car to pull something like that?  I guess I can look into it.

I've also never driver with a trailer and have no idea how to do so.  I'm guessing straight is no problem and I'll just have to pray I never have to go in reverse.

But interesting idea and they seem to be fairly cheap to rent.

any shipment requires 2 pallets... at roughly 4-600 for each.

That was pretty close to what I was finding for a van rental.  May be able to get a pick up cheaper although I think I'd feel more comfortable with something enclosed.

I even looked at uhaul for one of their little trucks and was surprised how expansive that was.

  5. Yes, prices are good here.  I was Def a buyer at 1000.  At 1200, I probably wasn't even though these were walnut and did look mint.

I really have my heart set on La Scalas but was curious about the CW and figured these could have been moved to the rear later, but honestly the Forte or something like that would be a better fit anyway.

Half of the fun to me is getting a deal.  Paying full asking price takes some of the excitement out of it for sure.  So I'm OK with this.  I did think about them all week and would have been more upset if he sold them out from under at a 1000, but at his full price, not sure I would have jumped on them anyway.

  6. Saw these on FB, they sat for a few days so I offered a grand.  Seller said ok and that he was leaving for a trip in 3 hours and would be back in a week.  It would have been tough to get over to him in time but in hindsight I should have just done it that day.

Msg'd the seller on the day he got back.  Saw the speakers were now marked as SOLD.   He said the person who bought his Heresy pair is buying these for the $1200.  While I kinda figured we had a deal, I guess I understand.  Oh well.  At least he was honest about it.

have you considered setting up an account with a email you only use for junk mail or not your personal info?  just a suggestion, lots of good deals on there for all kinds of stuff.

Fake names and emails work, too.  Or so I've heard.....

  8. not saying its not a scam, but doesn't seem that out of place to me.  Not replying to ads is odd, though.  Send one pretending to be an out of state buyer and see if they respond.

I read it as he will demo it with Klipsch speakers if you are local and if you are not and want to pay for shipping, they will do that too.
