  1. Thanks for the input guys. It's not a blown driver, just damaged and being replaced under warranty. No biggie
  2. Or a really good description, anyone? I may have to swap one out, and am wondering exactly how to go about it. Torx on all the screws on the front, above the separating line in plastic, and it all comes off revealing separate screws holding the individual woofers, or what? I wanna know before I whip out the torx screwdriver
  3. You mean 1/8" wood under the front of the speaker, to tilt it up a bit in the front and transfer some of the weight to the back ? The shelf is metal, with tempered glass on top of it. Part of a TV stand. Uh... check it out here: http://www.sonax.ca/Webpages/ProductInfo.asp?disp=series&series=milan&model=ML-1450 If you click the "5" box picture, it shows the 10" shelf at top, directly under the TV. Ive got my center (Boston VR12) on the middle shelf now (it weighs ~32lbs) ... no way i'm putting the RC-64 on that glass, tempered or not!
  4. not at the moment. It's 10" ... straightforward, heh. If it wont fit, i'll affix some kind of metal bracket underneath, with rubber pads on it, to hold the front of the speaker. Figured i'd ask anyhow here...
  5. can any of you tell me if this speaker will stay on a 10" shelf (using bare wire, lol...) ... thanks
  6. great, thanks! So... if banana plugs are used, and they arent huuuuge ones, you should basically be able to have it right smack against a wall or shelf?
  7. of the back? anyone? man, talk about hard to find online... I'm interested in the binding post area. Where it is, how far it sticks out, etc etc. Just ordered one Cheers!
  8. i'm not.The ... guy said 'you should contact your local dealer' as soon as I said the word canada. Not very good service. Audioclassics.com.
  9. yeah, guy replied to an ad i posted on canuckaudiomart saying he would sell the rc-64 with the rf-63's only together. prolly the same guy? pierre? something like that. Seemed a bit odd... rf-63's are pretty easy to sell on their own, eh?
  10. uhg, this forum cant handle copy/pastes well sometimes. use the klipsch.com dealer finder for marinette, WI they are the first listed.
  11. Hey guys, the dealer i'm looking at getting a cherry rc-64 from has suggested that he remove the woofers from the RC-64 to ship them separate, or at least packaged outside of the enclosure. Any thoughts on this? Seems to me if the dealer (soundseller) packages them well, and it sounds like he does hearing from others on here, they should be OK.
  12. I didnt order one. I'm going to be ordering one, out of the states. Anyone else got any input on this subject?
  13. so when you say freight, you mean they delivered on a skid/pallette in a truck? they didnt sub it out to fedex or anything?
  14. i'm not really matching it to my cabinet... i just dont want it to be a distraction. Do you have a cherry center under yer tv? nevermind. Yours is behind a screen.
  15. sorry for an older thread bump, but i figure this is somewhat relavent. Have any of you ordered from audioclassics.com? I'm looking at gettin an RC-64 from them, and they usualyl double box (this is a new old stock item) ... they also offer crating. Not sure of the cost for that service. Anyone have experience with them? Cheers
  16. I'm going to be ordering an RC-64. I've got Cherry RF-63's. I can get an RC-64 in Black Ash (new) for $569. I'm trying to get the same price on a Cherry one. I'm not sure if a Cherry (to match the RF-63's) is the way to go though... most of the top of the speaker is going to be visible in front of the TV, due to the way my stand is setup. I'm concerned about reflections off of the lighter color wood. Do any of you have experience with these two finishes directly underneath a TV? Will the Cherry be a distraction while watching a movie? the Cherry RF-63's arent too bad on either side, but something right smack under the TV that is light in color... FYI, my TV and stand are all black. any advice would be appreciated
  17. Allright, allright... i'll pickup the 82s. Unfortunately, ive no choice in the matter for a center channel speaker right now. I'll get an RC-52. I'm sure I'll be able to hunt down a used RC-62 if i'm not happy with this one, in time. If it turns out the WF series rock the RFs in time, ya'll are gonna hear about it [] ... i'm not holding my breath though. Havent the WF's been out in US for a year or so already?
  18. okay so i know im new here, and am probably pissing off some of you by now. However, bear with me please Major purchases require research and opinion gathering. In doing a little reading online about the RF-82s vs the RF-83s (or 63s) it became apparent that the 83s/63s are made in USA where the 82/62 are made in China. Today, at work, i gave the demo pair of cherry RF-82's the good ole' knock test up and down the side of the cabinet. You know the one... Ive got to admit, I was not impressed with how solid it felt, how hollow sounding it was, etc. Shouldnt they sound accoustically inert? or 'dead' might put it simpler... ? Know what I mean? It sounded hollow, like there was a lack of real solid bracing thoughout, almost. I didnt give the WF-35's the same treatment today, but I think I have in the past, when we first got em. I was more impressed with the overall build quality of the WF-35 IIRC. Can any of you make an informed comment on this? ... opened one of these things up and had a look? The last thing I want to do is drop ~$650usd on a pair of speakers and feel like they are poorly made everytime i touch em to get behind the TV. Maybe I just need someone to tell me to "shut up and get the ... you will be happy with them"
  19. hey guys, i did not realize that i get a very good price on RF-82's here in my store, and that we have them in both black and cherry. nice... Is an RC-52 center going to be overpowered by RF-82 mains, even after running the audyssey on the new onkyo TX-SR806? EDIT: Anyone had the opportunity to hear this setup in person? with a diff amp .... EDIT#2: why do folks say the 52 wouldnt be the best? it uses the same tweeter as the RC52... from klipsch.com: High Frequency Drivers 1" (2.54cm) Titanium diaphragm compression driver mated to 90x60 square Tractrix® Horn 1" (2.54cm) Titanium diaphragm compression driver mated to 90x60 square Tractrix® Horn So, it's not like it's going to be completely different sounding than the RF82s, eh ?
  20. are the RF-5's internet direct as well?
  21. I'm starting to think that I should just purchase a decent AVR for now (onkyo TX-SR806), use audyssey multiEQ to calibrate my current setup, and go from there. One step at a time, eh ? Means i wont get a discount on WF's if I dont get em before i leave my job, but maybe it does mean i'll pickup something 'better' used down the road, for the same cash or less?
  22. My store has two RF-82's for $1000 (pair) ...they are in the light oak color though, and HUGE cabinets. I like the smaller tower design of the WFs I dont know if they have any matching RF centers left though. EDIT: Ive got a large center channel boston vr-12 (8.5" high) and it's too tall... i'd prefer a lower height one, to fit directly under my TV. It's currently one shelf down, which is not ideal.
  23. hello again klipsch community! Any opinions on bookshelves as mains? (WB-14) instead of towers (WF-35) ... ive got a nice big sub to take care of everything below 80hz, though im not sure i like the idea. Isnt there stereo (front) or even surround effects for that matter, below 80hz in todays movies? surely you're missing something with bookshelves as mains? And i dont just mean that towers 'play louder'. Bookshelves cannot reproduce stuff below 60hz-70hz accurately... surely there's stuff on the front L/R channels that is meant to be heard there in these freqs?
  24. Updated my profile quickly at work. Check it out. I prefer accurate sound, definitely... even if just on principal I prefer to listen relatively loud, nothing uncomfortable though. Obviously dependant on the time of day being in a basement suite. I prefer new goods, though used is an option locally. My experience is limited to what i've got unfortunately. I've auditioned Boston VR3's in a proper soundroom, and have listened to some tube driven speakers at a friends years ago, but not for a signifigant amount of time. Don't listen to much music on this system. I will be adding a blu-ray player sometime soon. wow, it auto formatted my post into one big jumble. Im doing this from a mac in safari... weird.
  25. They may have good deals, but i doubt they can beat cost +5%. Do they carry klipsch? Or Boston? Ive got Boston A100 Series II's and a VR12 right now. Love the VR12, would love some Boston VR3's in black ash. Eeither that or the WF-35 / WC-24 setup... my dilema :/
