Hey guys I got these speakers and it was a long drive to get them. Long story short bathroom leak that landed right on top of one speaker and expanded the wood. I shined a light and I don't think it went through but it looks horrible..are these trashed ?

So this is a version 2 then ..hmm still worth 6 hundred...hmmm maybe ..I did spend close to that for a heresy 1.

I have a chance to get the epic cf3 at a "going" price..I dont mind to pay the sellers "firm" price, but for what Im paying for it, I thought it would be the famous ver 1 from the serial #265490820.. From the info I have received here it looks to me it was built in 1994 on May 26, so it should be version 1..From speaking to the seller on the phone he has no idea what version it is, only that the original owner added additional bracing and what he can see with his eyes, it has a shorter tube. He definitely thinks its only 3"...(probably 2.5").. But I also have heard if its a early version 2, all I would have to do is add a longer port. Is this correct??

Are these original drivers and good for home audio.

EPIC CF3 Version 1.. THEY ARE IN GREAT SHAPE. I would rate them a 8/10 due to the spot at the bottom. looks like the previus owner had jealous cats. I had the covers redone due to them also being cat clawed. DRIVERS AND HORN ARE MINT!! REmember these are version one! Looking for $675

OMG MJ, You should do mine..Can you?..Where r U? First of all, let me tell you that todays search for melamine paint was a mission. I went to Ace and HD and ended up gettinng a primer called Gripper and some semi gloss black paint and two brushes. Hope this works. The guy in HD knew about Melamine but only had one color, white. He said that only the canadians that come down for the winter usually ask for it. He said to use the gripper, and then use the semi gloss behr paint and I should be happy. I love the bars you installed inside your speakers.. Your like a jesus when it comes to carpentary.

I checked the port baffles and your correct, full of old glue. yeah, sand , primer paint is the way to go. I will go tomorrow to hd or ace and look at ronseal one coat melamine and mdf paint. ill keep u posted

What paint can I use for this front panel..I tried a flat black and im not sure if its a right match

kORN, THESE epics is what I like..I have been through many (klipsch) speakers check my other post, and the epics, to my music taste, is the best!!! I am so happy with the sound!! For real! The crossovers on cf 3 and cf4 looked identical when I opened them..My xovers are on there way back from the lab of Crites , so I did play with the ports of the CF3..Wow, from 2" to 4 1/4 makes a big difference. Bob or Mike told me that this is pretty much the main big difference with version 1 and 2...Not 3 of course, because they(klipsch) changed drivers as well. When I put the 2" port in the CF3 version 1 the awesome lows were gone!..I coulndt believe it..I cant wait to see how the CF4 is going to act with the 4" ports..THe ports are easily interchangable. But then again maybe the 4" ports might be to much bass for the CF4's//anyways im on a mission to find these ports if anyone can help..I read on one post that owner of the 4"s cut them...WHAT???? I couldnt believe it..LOL Im here trying hard to find these and this guys just cuts them!

I just used a damp towel so maybe thats why it didnt work. Detergent like "dawn"? How about alcohol diluted in water? Thanks again James

Can cat p do this? oh by the way these are version 1 cf3 got from here at the garage forum..!!thnks. Original owner, never had them in the garage and only one side had (water) damage. I saw a cat looking at me while I spoke to the gentleman and im now thiking little twinkie probably decided to own these one day..WOULD a good ssanding fix this?
