  1. Not sure if you found what you where after, I've got a set of KP-362's an I'm not sure if yours are related but if they are I can tell you I got a replacement tweeter from Klipsch, you just dial 1800-klipsch in the U.S. an ask for parts. Have fun!
  2. Ha they look great, just like mini versions on my kp's[] I was gonna use my heresy's as fold backs but now I've opened them up an heard of there rep I think they'd be safer indoors. Just curious really I hadn't heard of tough heresy"s Thanks
  3. Yeah outdoors with no walls in site
  4. Hey guys Wow it's been a pretty amazing journey since I last logged on here! Had been heading towards a BFM design too, the tuba 36. All looked good until I came across some contraversy involving a speaker test graph for the tuba 36 being advertised outside in half space when it had actually been tested indoors. This indicated a greatly increased Spl to what was actually possible in half space. This was enough to make me a bit doubtful, ALTHOUGH 99.99% of feedback is POSSITIVE for BFM (especially the Titan's an Autotuba), really giving me no need for concern. This is the only error I've been made aware of. So I've ended up finding a guys design on DIYaudio which ticks all the boxes for me. I use four Klipsch kp-362 pro series speakers outdoors for electronic music, the kp's produce 126db@1m with 300w so I needed at least 130 db sub to cover match. Being electronic music there's a lot of strong lows so I started to look for a 30hz design, but because of size limitations and difficult builds I opted for a 40hz Tapped Horn, using 15" JBL GTO car subwoofers. Car subwoofers it seems, work very well in tapped horns because of there rugged build, high excursion, cheap cost, and high output. Tapped horns really do make sense after a bit of research, a really good concept. I'll need to build four of them to get the required Spl to boost my kp's. The build will start in the new year, I'll set up a thread with pics Here's a link to the thread: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/subwoofers/127908-jbells-set-four-tapped-horns.html#post1582984 Big thanks to everyone here at Klipsch community and to everyone at DIY audio for all your help P.S. I've just acquired some Heresy 1's, where can I find more info about your industrial Heresy's CECAA850?
  5. Hey there I've just acquired some Heresy 1's (I think 1979, serial letter is T) and I'm trying to find the parameters ie. power handling, freq range etc. I've also been told that a HF horn is not working although I haven't heard for my self(no suitable hi-fi amp), are there any parts available? I've heard testing the resistance of the HF horn will tell me if it's failed, is this true? The cabs are quite rough so I'm considering painting or retouching them, any tips? Was thinking of maybe giving the veneer a light sand and orange oiling them or panting them.. Vintage audio isn't really my thing(more into pro audio an electronic music) but I've heard the Heresy's reputation an I can't bare to see a nice old set sit in neglect!! 77T931 and 77T950 are the serial numbers, not sequential but at least the same year! Not bad for $100 bucks from a tip shop... So in short I'm after" A. Stats or parameters B. What power output amp C. Retouching/painting tips suggestions D. Replacement parts I live in Australia but will be in the U.S. from the 18th Nov to mid Dec so if parts are available I hope to pick up while there.... Any info would be greatly appreciated..
  6. Thanks for the reply still keen for any more ideas cheers
  7. Yeah have heard of this Cowan guy, best get on to him an see if he minds giving me some time, thanks so much for your help guys! P.S. You've got one wild lounge Chris! Must be a dream to walk into that room... Good luck with the bose Andy!
  8. Hey I'm looking for some extra bass to accompany 4x Klipsch kp-362's. Used outdoor for electronic music mostly, Any ideas on powered/passive, driver(15"/18") and layout( tapped/folded etc.)? I haven't had much experience with powered speakers, I've got a 400w Qsc power amp free so I'd like to use that but most likely will need more power, and a dedicated sub amp? I also have a 200w sub amp that I haven't really tested but imagine it won't provide the boost I'm after... What are some good on board amps, considering price an performance? In regards to DIY plans, I need something with some proven results(some of these guys seem a bit dodgy), I can follow a well made plan, an I don't want to put my time, effort an money into something which turns out to be a freakshow! Any ideas, comments appreciated...
  9. Quick update...... Thinking now about these bill fitz maurice tuba 36's, and maybe an eminence definimax 4015LF(rms 700w) Any one know of either of these? Also keen for info on good sub amps, price and transport considered..
  10. Thanks so much chris, I've been looking at diy stuff but couldn't find much useful info. I can't find these spud plans but found these tuba plans-www.billfitzmaurice.com/T48.html Ever heard of them? Could be worth the $14.95 the plans are sold at. I'm pretty good with my hands an some bass I'll work for! If so what would be a good driver, cost an performance considered? Could you also list off a few things to help me build a safer/better setup? Electronic cross over/limiter etc. I've got a mate at a sound hire shop so I can access pretty much anything untill I can afford to buy. Thanks again, you're a champion
  11. Wow these danleys look great but $2300 for a 115 is a bit out of my range, considering it'd cost closer to $3000 by the time I had it freighted to Aus. Any ideas on a cheaper tapped horn? The system is normally used outdoor, thus the need for as much bass as I can afford.. I've used a couple of 18" subs before pretty much centre stage, in front of the booth. Is this the best position? Can you explain "spl" please an also the benefits of a "tapped horn"? I've used some Funktion Ones before an even had the use of a 6k Turbosound but really need something portable( so far I have 4x85 pound kp-362s, some pretty heavy Mackie or Proel foldbacks an a 75 pound peak amp) an fairly inexpensive, best quality I can afford is the motto I suppose! Thanks for your help,
  12. Hey I'm looking for some bass boost to accompany my 4 kp-362s. I've been told that big subs are used less for electronic music, as the lag of a big driver can put the beat out of time with the higher freq. Is this true? Should I be running several small subs( say 4x 12" or 15") or should I head towards a couple of big subs(like two 18")? I've even seen some 21" subs about two! Although they seem pretty impractical transport wise an seem to be a bit of a show piece for most who have them( 15" or 18" subs I've used have given plenty enough bass). The music the stereo is used for is often a low beat an bass with tempo's ranging from 100 bpm to 150 bpm, with anywhere from 1 to 4 bass pulses between each beat. Any info appreciated
  13. Hey i'm looking for parts for some kp-362s. I'm travelling to the U.S. in a month (19-11-09) and travelling from New York to Chicago to Memphis to El Paso and then finally to L.A. I'm travelling through Hope Arkansas and hope to get a stop over there, are Klipsch systems common locally or are they more dispersed? I know they made white kp-362's for churches but i'm not sure how many....... I'm looking for a k-48-kp 15inch sub and a k-792-kp tractrix horn. Those are the codes off the Klipsch info spreadsheet I was given, not sure if they're are used or known under something else or if something with a different name may be the same specs just different year etc. I have some very similar speakers with horns but a 12 inch sub an they're hi-fi/house speakers. Horns look almost the same as k-792-kp but much less power handling.. I'm wondering how popular(and common) the kp-362's are and hoping to pick something up towards the end of my journey so i can throw my clothes out of my case an put them through checked baggage. Does anyone know of any hi-fi/ public address system shops in the Santa Monica area? I know there are a lot of car/ odds an ends lots over there an am hoping to find a similiar shop for stereos and stumble accross the parts i need! Any ideas would be a great help Cheers
