  1. HiYaAll, Just finished recapping my 83 CW I.5's w/ BEC Sonicap kit. Must say they sound even better. Overall great balance, depth and the top came to life. Wasn't a hard job at all. took my time; used heat shrink tubing(Thanks BobC). I think I'll just listen for awhile .... ..like you guyz said. ronnie
  2. I listen to everything .! These CW's sound awesome ! ron
  3. Thanks guyz~ Sounds like the concensus is to just change the caps; then listen .. ahhh xmas music in the background..and I'm almost done power shopping .. lol Merry Christmas ronnie
  4. HiYaAll, I've just purchased a pair of Cornwall 1983 CBR I.5's in ex shape. I've got the K77M tweet; K51V mid and K33E woof w/ B2 xover. I've ordered from Crites the replacement caps to get rid of the oil cans. Visually they're fine. The speakers sound very good. The bass and mid are outstanding; overall good balance w/o having to equalize anything. but I feel I could get a tad better tweet. However, I suspect after 27 years there's prolly some degradation and maybe all is needed is caps to freshen the top. I'm tossing around the idea of r/r the 77m's or go with w/CT 125's. I understand that it's a direct replacement. So my ques are: Is it a good idea to r/r the caps? My thoughts are that after cap replacement maybe the 77M's will come alive and I might not need the 125's. Should I just r/r the 77's diagphram? Will the 125's work well with the CW B2? I don't want too over listen the tweet. I also don't want to screw with it so as it effects the resale value... I can keep orig parts is vac sealed bag. Overall do I have a decent driver setup? sorry about all the Q's it's my ADHD lol Please help .. newbie here ...All opinions welcome! BTW, to freshen the cab's I'm going to clean/wipe the raw birch with aceone then hit it with some 0000 steel wool. This is my xmas pres.. won't fit under the tree .or chimney . lol Merry Christmas Ronnie
  5. HiYaAll, Just thought I'd say I picked up a pair of 83 Cornwall's today in most excellent shape! 1 original owner. Came with boxes, glossy phamphlet, certificates and signed letter from Paul. Raw Birch Ply B2 crossover's Tweet - K77M Mid - K51V ceramic Woof - K33E CW 1.5's ? lol ron
  6. Walnut finish. She says they're solid walnut.. dunno if they were made like that. Correction > I believe they were purchased in 1985 not 76 like first posted. No risers. Need help as I'm looking at them for xmas pres.
  7. I believe they're walnut. She wants $1000. I offered 700 which I thought was fair. help.. ..
  8. What's a mint set of 76 Cornwall's going for nowadays? Thanks Ron
  9. Thanks. Thank You~ BTW, I found an old pioneer receiver and sub in my basement for testing; but they need to be updated. Hooked up all 6. The 2.2's kick it, overall very good balance, crisp and great sound given the task. Might even blow off the sub and get a pair of KG5.5's. dunno lol . The cases are just plain ole clear w/o anything as you would buy a oak plank; so I'm thinking I can 400 then some sort of pledge or oil of some sorts. You're right about the sub.. must be cool to build one.. <I'm a frustrated woodworker> Iffin you have plans or design please feel free to share; that'd be cool. so.. if anyone has any ideas' I'm open for suggestions.. Merry Christmas! Ron
  10. Thanks. I understand my post is rather vague; but I'm a newbie lol .. I did search but posts were rather outdated. From what I can tell the center is a KG2.2V? Still not sure about the sub. Also; being that I have the the oak clear, what would be recommended for cleaning the wood? I dunno, maybe some 600 grit then pledge. I'd like to take the units somewhere to have it checked out electronically and iffin so what can I expect to pay for that? Visually they are all purrfect. please excuse my ignorance. lol I was looking at the new Yamaha RX V765 7.2 channel 665 Watt Receiver to drive these puppies as it appears to be a great unit cost/performance wise. again, any help or guidance would be most welcome! Thanks in advance Ron
  11. HiYaAll, New guy here.. My name is Ron ! I just picked up KG 2.2 theatre system. oak clr in sweet condition. Came with: (1) Center 20W x 6 1/2 H x 6 1/2 D (4) 19 1/2 H x 9 1/4 W x 9 1/4 D I'm trying to find info on this set. I've found the spec's on this site but nothing on the center or even if when first produced if it came with or needs a sub. I'd like to match a receiver or with whatever else I need. Is this a decent system? So far I've got 5 speakers and monster cable . . Any help or info would be appreciated. thanks~
