  1. Cool! I have been watching all year too. Does anyone have a high resolution shot of the back of the UMC-1? Or a link to download the manual? The XPA-5 is out of stock (bummer), so I need to see if my current AVR would power the speakers so I could at least use it for now. At least until I can get a XPA-5. I'm looking for the output options of the UMC-1 however the site pictures are too small to read what they are.
  2. I'm about to pull the trigger on the same setup. I am anxiously waiting your review. I would like to verify the HDMI looks good too since I want to run everything through the UMC-1 and XPA-5. Very jealous you have it in hand!
  3. I've been anxiously waiting for reports on this and it seems the buzz has died. It was hot when it wasn't available and now I don't find much info. It seems like the umc-1 and xpa-3 would be the perfect setup for my RC-64 and RF-83's. I just wonder if this is still the thing to buy or is there something else getting all the attention now?
  4. @Carbon Summit Did you get it yet?? Anxious to hear what you think....
  5. Great comments all... You guys got me all excited about UMC-1 just to find out I can't even pre-order one until May! [] XPA-5 is ready for order but does me zero good unless I have a processor. It certainly does look like a good setup and I like the OSD. I guess I will get by for now until they have them available. I suppose I would like to know what people really think about it too before sinking the cash. What little I can find sounds pretty good though!
  6. Dupe post and doesn't allow a delete. The server is having time out troubles tonight... I've gotten an SQL error twice.
  7. How do you have the RF-83's setup in the receiver? If you want change the setting to "Large" or "Full", I don't know how the 1019 describes it, and see how you like the sound. This will send the full range to your RF-83's and should/will produce bass. James James, I have the RF83's as Large, RC64 as Small (do most people set this as large? I think it's harder to hear voice if there is much base here). The auto calibrate puts the RF83's just under neutral for the far left two EQ's (63 and 125Hz). In order to get bass I have to move them up a ways to about 3/4. Granted I do have a subwoofer, but want to produce some bass with these six - 8" woofers too since I have them. Another thing is that I am bi-amping these since my receiver supports it. I am not sure if I am hurting myself by doing this with a low powered receiver or not? I haven't tried single yet and just went bi-amp right when I got them. I assumed it was better if I could support it. Any thoughts there? Andrew
  8. @RockOn4Klipsch I live in Iowa City. I am 2 hours from you and may take you up on that sometime soon! Thanks for the offer!
  9. Thanks for all the inputs everyone. I didn't plan on picking up the RF83's when I bought the 1019, but they fell in my lap for $895 and they are mint! I was surprised I couldn't produce much bass with them at mid volumes but I assume that's the power gap with the 1019. From those who know; would the external amp really make the difference at low to mid volume levels? I don't need it so loud that the block can hear it too but I do need quality sound with some punch at the mid levels. I assume the external amp would do a better job at that?
  10. Solutions to add an amp to the 1019 that is?
  11. I have a Pioneer 1019 and it's just not enough to drive my RF83's and RC64. I've been looking at 3-5 channel amps and the Emotiva XPA-5 seems like a pretty popular amp for the money. Since I am new to amps I don't understand how to get the output of the 1019 into the XPA-5. I see on the diagrams they have a single RCA but I think my 1019 only has a pre-out type connection for the subwoofer. Can anyone tell me how it's done? Or a better amp to buy for about the same money?
  12. Great comments guys, thanks. I picked up a RT-10d from another forum member and hope to have it next week sometime. I agree the Pioneer 1019 is not enough and will essentially safety power off if I push too hard with it. I don't know too much about amps but now learning from this community. I would like to get at least a 3 channel amp to push my RF-83's and RC-64 (any suggestions?). I have pretty crappy surrounds but they do the job for now. Next purchase will be an amp followed by some RS-somethings.
  13. I have been looking into subs and have a few questions I hope this group can answer. What's the performance difference between the RT-10d vs. a RSW-15? I have been eyeing both subs and don't know what to choose. It seems the RT-10d is discontinued due to lack of sales (from Klipsch support). Is the 10d not selling because something else is outperforming it in the Klipsch line? I don't have an audio store I can really demo them but assume they are both great products that will fit the bill. Current setup is: RF-83, RC-64, Pioneer VSX-1019. Thanks.
  14. That's too bad man! Hopefully you can get it fixed. I have a broken RF-83 woofer that is cracked out (same 8" as RF-82 I think). I suppose I will have to wait until Monday now to call them. Anyone ever replaced or had one repaired? Just wondering if the cost is going to shock me... Thanks.
