  1. Wow the 7 looks awesome even next to the palladium. The palladiam has more of a subtle look, but the horn section looks really cool and stands out to me. I have always been a fan of those paradigm studio 100s too, imagine if that speaker was larger in size.

  2. Paradigm DSP-3400. I try to sell my speakers and everyone wants my sub lol. Its a good sub for the price and completely fills medium sized rooms. By the way my rf-7ii serial numbers are like 3 digits apart. Its not a big deal especially with black speakers. Usually people worry about the wood not matching if the numbers are not sequential. Also since the rf-7ii are fairly new it is not like one has been sitting around a while and the other is new (which might make a fraction of a fraction in tonal difference.). Cant think of any other reasion not having sequential serials would be bad.

  3. yeah and it should increase the life expectancy on the onkyo. Good deal. Have you tried "pure direct" yet on the onkyo where the rf-82s are running in full band sound ?That is where you could really see that the 125 wpc in those marantz are enough.

  4. I think that having the front two or three channels running on amps with an onkyo 70x is an awesome way to go. As far as bi-amping goes i will tell you that i did this originally (had 5 originally) and got it to work fine but i think i only had it running a day or so and that was with my rf-82 not my rf-7ii so i cannot give you specifics on how i remember that sounding. You will get a bunch of power out of bi-amping two of these but i like the simplicity of just one amp per channel. I am glad you like them, i like them a lot except for the fact that they do not have a trigger. You may want to check those two capacitors inside the amps when you get the other pair, i was reading on polk forum about a member transaction that went bad where they got some ma-500s and the caps were leaking from the get go although they still produced sound. I think the simplicity of the design and good build quality will allow these amps to have a long life span if the caps do not leak (the caps looked great in the ones i sent you). If you have not already purchased the pair maybe look into get just 1 for the center channel.

  5. Willend has a few B&K amps so he should be able to help you, plus he frequents here so he should chime in....any time now bill. I dont think it should get too hot for you to keep your hand on it for 8 seconds. Were you testing it out with the volume turned up? I have heard of someone before with an amp that all of a sudden started getting hot when it hadnt before. If this is an issue you should not be using your amp until it gets fixed less you want to fry even more of it. I have a emotiva upa-5 and i do not listen to it too loud but it has never ran warm for me.

  6. Iron assuming you are okay with not staying with the the latest codecs you should look at getting an older pioneer elite. My vsx-45tx really sounded great with my klipsch and i think it would do really well with the heresies. The vsx-55tx and vsx-56txi would both probably be awesome choices too. I think the sound changed a little bit after those series (not saying the sound got worse but different strokes for different folks). Not saying to go out of your way to get one but if you can find one on the cheap may be worth a try. Plus the remote on the vsx-45tx was the best and coolest remote i have ever owned. I picked up my elite in perfect condition with box and accessories for $165.

Original poster please update us with if you heard a change in sound with the change in receivers.

  7. People will tell you differently about crossovers. Say you set it to 45 hz then your sub will play everything under 45hz and the speakers will play everything above 45hz. I use a 70-80hz crossover setting. THX settings are 80 hz. Just because you have larger woofers does not mean you have to use them for the lower frequencies, they will push more air than smaller woofers even when they are only hitting 80hz and higher frequencies.
