  1. Ya, I'd love to keep her. That's why I'm moving to the Deutscheland. Her or my RP-5's...!?! Hmmm
  2. I wish. It's more like USPS'ing. Though, the weight restrictions are 70 pounds. The RP-5's are 73 lbs without any packaging. I wonder... what would be the weight of the amp? I am considering a dismantel and separate shipment for some of the components. Any new thoughts. Tom
  3. fini, thats nothing. My girlfirnd puts the seat up. Was great until I sat down.
  4. I have a pair of RP-5's, an RC-3 and RS-3's. I love them. For the price, it's the best sound out there and I don't want to part with them. My dilemna is that I am relocating from the US to Germany. I was measuring and weighing them for possible shippers when I noticed their only good for 120 volts. Most of my other equipment can switch between US and Euro voltages, except my RP-5's. Why's that? Is it the Amp? What can I do about it? Could I strip out the amps? But, then, how much would I expect to pay to replace them? I don't want to part with them, but, since I have only a little money, things aren't looking good. Any suggestions? If I have to part with them, what is a good selling price for them. I was thinking a grand for the set. Retail, that's over half off. The speaker are just a little over a year old, but, look like there brand new. Thanks, Tom Drought San Diego, CA

  6. Thanks HornED, for your response. I only use the fireplace 3 month out of the year, so I think I can do without while watching movies. I am going to shift my room. That will give me the space behind to mount my 2 rears, which I am going to mount on the ceiling. For the romance... ...I'll just play a chick-flick (with THX) 7.1 = 2 mains, 1 center, 2 surrounds, 2 rears, and in my case, 2 subs. Sweet!
  7. Soon to have an Onkyo TX-DS989 w/ 7.1, 160 watts per channel, THX EX, DTS (releasing DTS ES upgrade via RS-232 port in January). Since I have a small room, I want to get the max performance out of the receiver and speakers, but have not found much help with speaker placement with my room. Any insight would be appreciated.
  8. I posted earlier on a similar question and needed a little more advice on my room setup. My room is 14 feet wide (back to front) and 20 feet long (side to side). I want 7.1 sound w/o losing some view of my fireplace from the couch. (Yes, I live in San Diego. I know, I know, what do I need a fireplace for...) Basically, would it be advantagous to mount RB-3's on the back wall, inches behind the listeners ears, mount my RS-3 surrounds mid-room (which is about 3-4 feet in front of the listener) and the mains, RP-5's, at the front of the room, close to 10 feet in front. Would I gain anything from this setup, as compared to a 5.1 setup? Thanks.

  10. I have heard that Klipsch will be releasing a new speaker, the RB-3's. Anyone know when they are to appair and when to look for pricing and specs. These sound like rears for a 7.1 setup, which is what I'm building. Thanks.
  11. San Diego is great for the weather, thats why everyone seems to move here, but thats about it. Kick myself everyday for moving from the East Coast. Real estate is outragously expensive. To further the previous question then, if I got the RB-3's (when they are released), would it be advantagous to mount those on the side walls, inches behind the listeners ears, mount the surrounds mid-room (which is about 3-4 feet in front of the listener) and the mains at the front of the room. Would I gain anything from this setup, as compared to a 5.1 setup? Also, do you know when the RB-3's are due out? Thanks
  12. I am getting ready to setup a 7.1 system, but have a dilemna with my rear surrounds. To begin with, my couch is on the rear wall. I thought of pulling it away from the wall a few feet, but then it starts getting to close to the TV. The distance currently between the couch and the TV is 14 feet. I was hoping to use RS-3's for the rear. Cannot use in-wall, I rent. Anyone have any suggestions.
  13. I have been using http://store.yahoo.com/gigabuyz Great prices. Almost 1/2 off retail. Better than any local shop I've seen so far.
  14. I take it you are not satisfied with the Onkyo TX-DS989 receiver. It's supposed to blast 130w minimum to each or it's 7 channels. I want a 7.1 receiver. If not Onkyo, then could you recommend another. PS - I don't want to spend over $5000 for the receiver. Thanks
  15. I currently have this crappy Sony Shelf unit which packs a whopping 75w to the main speaker, and 35w to the center and surrounds. I am now replacing the entire system and am now getting my RP-5's, RC-3 and RS-3's in any day now. Next purchase is going to be Onkyo's TX-DS989 Receiver, but have to wait two months for it. My dilemna is that I want to listen to my Klipsche now. Would I harm the speakers due to the lack of power from the Sony shelf? Thanks
