  2. thanks for the responses! maybe i can get the serial #s off the back and have them verified befor purchase. I was just a little concerned with the very low price and free delivery to my house on brand new Clll"s,and also the prices on other heritage models! As a life long hobby I am an antique and vintage enthusiast and I know many things can appear as something but are not!!! thanks
  3. Ran across a really good deal on brand new cornwall lll's, with a supposed klipsch warranty. Just wondering if there is a way to verify that they are indeed klipsch speakers and not knock-offs. thanks
  4. Thanks for the response and info!!! They are k-33 B, which ascertained from this wonderful forum "may be CTS woofers."? I have been looking for a reputable speaker shop in my area hoping to fix them to have the option of placing them back as I found them.... Its that stewardship thing! Until then..... I would love to find a woofer that could replicate the klipsch sound and I wouldn't mind blowing once in awhile....
  5. I will try to make this short! I recently picked up a pair of 1980 cornwalls they have renewed my interest in audio......thank you Klipsch!!! .I was wondering if anyone is familiar Mccauley dividing networks? I have a pair that were matched with altec 604 8-g's that my brother gave me in high school and haven't used for over 20 years, and I am wondering if they are worth using for the same altec speakers? I know nothing about speakers... only the sounds i like.... the crossover says "frequency dividing network 3112" on the back it says LF (f 120) HF (2461) like I said i know nothing about speakers. any explaination would be welcomed! Thank you
  6. My new to me cornwall's one woofer is extending and thumping with certain low frequencies. Can anyone reccomend a speaker repair shop in this part of the country? or should I buy a new woofers? thanks any info would be great! also should I order the parts from klipsch for the repair?
  7. Thanks for the info! How do you're altecs work with you're klipsch products? The reason I ask i recently bought some 80' cornwalls a little over 2 weeks ago. This has renewed my interest in audio and i haven't "listened to music" in a long time... they sound great!...i have had a pair of ripped coned altec 604 8-g's sitting in storage for around for 15 yrs. and just sent them out to G P A for repair and I am wondering if they can work together? any info or insight would be appreciated, tube amps or s.s. or modern. any advice would be helpful i know nothing about matching up audio!
  8. Anyone know of Heritage dealer near minneapolis? Iam curious about the new Cornwalls and the klipsch dealer locator gives no pertinent info about this. It could be in wisconsin or north dakota also. Thanks!
  9. Thebes, thanks for youre input, "northern virginia".... fairfax... is one of my favorite places... and all around it..... i think you are on to something>
  10. tc. i am with you on that i heard my first pair in 83' spread far apart and sounding like a well made instrument! opening them up and seeing exactly what is inside.... they must be.... getting so much out of so little...... the person or persons who designed theses speakers new more about harmonics then most...... i still cant get over how important the cabinets and their simple design seem to be integral to these speakers and the balance they have created> the resonance is astounding..... that hand shake i welcome!!!
  11. Preston Tom that sounds like good advice! I appreciate it! I think that replacing the caps makes sense. the end of my post was fuzzy i was dictating to my wife, I was trying to express the joy in my new found audio experience, thanks to klipsch and this board! i have done some lurking since my speaker purchase, a couple of weeks ago, so many knowlegible individuals so much interest, it is fascinating. I hope that my speakers that have been broken for 15 years will help with the "highs and middle" with some types of music.
  12. Ironsave thanks for the response! iam sure if you you are persistant you can find a mint pair of cws for very little investment. i agree with youre praise of Bob Crites, it was truly a pleasure.
  13. I recently acquired a pair of matching cornwall 1's locally in the minneapolis area. CBR cabs K-77 T. K-55 M K-33 woofers type b Xovers Ser # 25U377 and 78 They are in like new condition and sat in previous owners storage for 20yrs, he was moving so he dumped them on craigslist. I was thinking of changing the capacitors? I ordered some from Mr. crites and some gaskets. I replaced the gaskets but the old ones were perfect. I was wondering about a few things,I listen to all types of music and these handle the majority very well. The exception being some rock and roll. Is this simply the recordings or old cheap equipment or capacitors? I borrowed the components from my 2 yr olds play room. The amp is a 20 yr old integrated jvc av amp (100wts pr. ch.) the cd player is a magnovox. they work ok with his cheap bose 901's but for these i dont know? ? 1. if I change the capacitors will it help with this type of music and will that depreciate the value of the speakers ? 2. if this wont help would newer models of cornwalls be better suited ? 3. any reccomendations on a four channel amp that is newer or solid state (I would like tubes, but I'm too inexperienced for that) these speakers have renewed by interest in audio, so I am having them fixed they are also very efficient. Thanks. Any input would be great.
