What would be the reason this version is so much less expensive than the newer models? Better components?

I have been approached to buy a pair of Klipsch Cornwall's from the 70's. They do not appear to have any veneer, or be unfinished. I have no experience with vintage speakers and I would like to make sure I'm not getting ripped off. Guy is asking $700 for the pair. Any advice for a newbie who really wants a pair of old-school speakers?

[RC-7 center channel's face has fallen off. Help?]

The front of my RC-7 center channel has fallen off, I think due to the fact that my amp sits below, and radiates heat upward through a glass shelf. Any suggestions on how to remedy this? As best I can tell the glue bonding the face element of the speaker to the enclousre itself heated up and allowed the speaker element to fall off.

On another note I could now use a a new grill for this speaker, when the face came off it broke all the pegs from the grill. I know it is discontinued and they are no longer being made, anyone have one they would be willing to sell?

I live in a small apartment, I listen to alot of rock/metal/doom stuff and with the proximity to neighbors I listen at a fairly mild level comapred to what I would have used back home in my old house and my RF-7's. As for budget what should I realistically be looking at?

Sorry I'm so slow on the responses guys, I just knocked out a 26 hour drive to California, packing and the much needed sleep afterwards took up a few days. I'm doing my best toget through all the replies and digest what is being said. As for a budget, I was thinking $1500.00 but that seems to be a little under the mark for this type of investment.

I have a pair of Rb-5 II's powered by a Denon AVR-3805. Not sure about all I need to get a decent sounding setup running and what the rough costs will be. Looking for some suggestions por favor! []

[RF-7 dust cover caved in, any thoughts on fixing this?]

I recently moved, and had to leave my beloved RF-7's at home. My sister and her BF took them out of storage and hooked them up, after removing the grills one of their dogs knocked in the dust cover on one of the mains. I'm more than a little upset, is there a fix for this or a replacement that is inexpensive? Also they managed to destroy the pegs on the grills, any suggestions for replacements?
