  1. well 82,s aint out of the question..i just figured it would be overkill for surround duty..i dont want to buy, then wish i would have done something different..hence the reason im asking all these dumb questions[]
  2. well me and the wife had a long talk about the speaker situation..she just dont want wall mounted speakers period..and said she would actually rather have towers for surounds than bookshelves..its her house to, so i gotta give in, sooooooooooo, im going to order a set of floorstanders for surrounds...is there much difference between the rf52 and rf62 sound wise..i dont really care about the cost difference, if its worth it..thanks for all the replies, i just hate not being able to demo something and buying blind..yall know klipsch way more than me Thanks
  3. thanks yall..that dont sound like to much of a problem..i didnt even think about tilting them. I think im going to settle on the rs52,s..the 62,s are little over 300 more for the pair..surely they aint that much better, lol
  4. thanks for the replies..we very seldom listen to music in the house(my nusic setup is in my truck, lol) this is mainly for movies and tv watching. Im still undecided..about ready to just order some rs52,s and hang them up, and when she walks in say thats the only way they will work[^o)]..just my luck i would gt the bookshelfs and one fall off the stand, and cause me to have a stroke! I really like the rs62, but cant see paying 1k for surrounds. 1 more quick question though. I know surrounds are reccomended to be about 1ft above ear level..if i get the rs52,s and say i hang them 3-4ft above ear level..still sound good? or will the sound be going over our heads? The way our room is setup, 1ft above ear level is gonna look weird, and make them stick out like a sore thumb...thanks in advance..
  5. thanks for the reply..i didnt know if the rs would sit on a stand, or if they was wall mounting only. I really would rather them be on the wall..but once again, she is throwing a fit[]...one of these days im gonna buy a different house, and have a room to myself, lol. 1 more quick question. Klipsch reccomends the rs52 to match my rf82/rc62 setup. Would the rs62 be that much better? worth the extra price? thanks
  6. anybody running the rb series bookshelf speakers for surrounds? I was going to order a pair of the rs52,s but the wife is throwing a fit about it..she dont want any speakers on the walls..i dont know if the rs series can be stand mounted. Only other alternative would be a set of bookshelf speakers, or buy another set of towers..which i did consider a set of floorstanders..maybe rf62..whatcha think? any ideas?
  7. That's how it starts. Pretty soon you'll have those cute little cubes in your living room instead of those big ugly speakers if my wife had her way, we would have them little cubes to[]
  8. yep i thought tuesday was pretty good..shipping from new york to texas[]..ahh the wife dont care, she says whatever makes me happy, but you know she probably has a shopping spree lined up, haha
  9. im not knocking the onkyo at all..im just looking for a little bit warmer sound[] wife got some drapes today..gonna get them hung up after supper..tracking shows the new HK will be here tuesday
  10. the wife is going to penneys today to check out some drapes for the french doors, gonna look for a large area rug this weekend..she loves this part lol. I did just get through hitting the buy button though on a Harmon kardon 3600, j&r had a deal i couldnt pass up. Planning on keeping the 805 though just in case. Hopefully the hk has what im looking for
  11. congrats on the umc..i was considering buying one, but after reading about the bugs, i decided to wait. Im sure they will get them all worked out over time, emotiva is good people. Keep us posted on the good and the bads, if any[]
  12. you wouldnt happen to have the item # of them would ya timyoung? I just looked on jcpenney.com, and all i see is regular curtains and drapes
  13. that cat would fry if it tried to lay on top of my onkyo, this thing will heat the house in the winter
  14. the room is terrible for sound im sure..harwood floors, french door on a side wall etc. What are some decent tips to tame brightness, that the wife wont declare war over
  15. i did try audessey several different times..it actually seems to make it even more bright sounding, and a whole lot less bass.I run the 805 with manual eq, and use the thx cinema and it sounds pretty good. I think i have a weakness for bright sounding setups, lol..i had the same problem with my system in my truck. After several differnt speaker setups, amps, etc, before i finally found what i was after[]
  16. thanks for all the replies. Done some more reading, last night and this morning, and i was interested in the denon 3310, thinking it was in the same ball park as the 3808..but have found out, its actually a step down. So thats out..the marantz 6005 and especially the 7005 seem nice. Now i have been reading more into the Harmon kardon line, and like the HK3600..i found alot of good reviews on them..but remember at one time hk had some quality control problems. power specs dont really matter, since i will be using a seperate amp. Wish there was a higher end audio store close to demo some different brands.
  17. . nothing against the 805 ...but my setup does tend to get bright at higher volumes. Was just thinking about replacing the bedroom receiver with my 805, and get a new receiver for the living room. I was interested in the emotiva pre pro, but seems like they have bugs from what ive been reading..and i read they tend to favor the neutral to brighter sound
  18. Been looking at receivers online..wandering how a denon sounds compared to onkyo. Thinking of replacing my 805 onkyo, and have read denons tend to be warmer sounding. Im looking at the denon 3310..anybody running it? like, dislike?
  19. i just updated the eqipment list[]...yes the onkyo does a nice job on its own. But i can tell a small difference running a seperate amp, better dynamics, and a bit more detail
  20. . im using a emotiva amp, 200wpc to drive the mains and center, so power is tap I really havent had much time to tweak since getting the new speakers.
  21. thanks for the reply. Right now i have my mains @ 60hz and my center @ 80 hz. Just seemed to me a speaker with dual 8" would be going to waste only playing to 80hz[]
  22. what are yall crossing your rf82,s and rc62,s at? I know the thx standard is 80hz, but that seems like the 82,s would be going to waste with 8" speakers.
  23. mines a 65" mits..3 yrs old now, tv on ALOT..but from what i read, if you have the settings on Blinding(bright) the bulb life is way shorter. I have mine on standard mode
