  1. We managed to Squeeze in four KPT-684 sideways end to end under the stage with four 3,200watt bridged amps for plenty of headroom. They were set in place and then the cement was poured. They are matched with eight KP-362, four on each side of the stage. Then for moveable side fill comprising four KP-362 on top of four profile matching double 15 woofers shown set-up as a centre array. DSP time alignment, xovers, etc is a fully expanded A&H iDR8. I only test 25% of the front of house system to full power unless Im wearing ear plugs. At full power after a while you really do need to sit down, full body massage. There are also 2 four speaker delay lines on the ceiling further away from the stage and there are four 12 2way vocal monitors in the ceiling just in front of the stage. I add 2 meters of delay to the front of house to prevent feedback when bands are playing.
  2. When dealing with something heavy in a box, you don't have to lift it out. Just open the box, bend the flaps back, carefully tip the box over so its top is on the floor, and lift it up off its contents. That is great for getting LaScala out of their boxes but they only way 120lbs my new amps weight 150lbs each, lol. They are still where the delivery guys left them, lol. They are safe in the boxes while I do the work on the house for the jubs. I'm tempted to get a friend to help lift them setting 1 amp on top of each of my Heresy as active amp risers, haha, would look good. I could burn 1 amp in on my LaScala and burn the other in on the Heresy. The amps operate as single ended class A for the first watt or so and then into push pull class A up to 40 watts. I know the LaScala are extremely smooth and detailed with my class A Yamaha B2x so this could become a serious distraction to getting the house finished.
  3. My new jub amps have consecutive serial numbers 24262 and 24263 and the even number is the smaller number. I have opened one but it's to heavy to lift out of the box by myself.
  4. It's always price -v- performance. I saw a LG passive 3D that turns 2D into 3D and looks like the latest IMAX it uses the same glasses, $1,900.00 AUS. The size you get depends on how far you sit away from it so the picture stays clear. It was really good and after that I'm not interested in anything else. Why do you have Khorns? Is it that you are making your eyes jealous over your ears. When you Eyes grow up will they say you always favoured your Ears and they just got the left overs? :)
  5. I played Dark Side of the moon at a party my sister had using my LaScala and the party stopped and everyone just listened. At the end they all wanted to hear it again and I said sorry I only play a record once in 24 hours so it has time to recover form the stylus pressure so I played the cassette for them. Sounds so retro now, lol. Everyone then went into a conversation about how they had never heard the album before with all the detail and space between the notes. Before I went to sound mix live bands on huge double or quad 4 ways, and that's fully hornloaded like 4 MCM 4's on each side. I would always plug my ears and sit infront of my LaScala and turn them up so I could reference my ears before the gig. The plugs would then stay in until the gig was finished. This stops your ears from ringing and is very good for when you really have the need to fully experience the feeling of a fair dinkum LOUD speaker. BTW if I ever modified my LaScala, I would Jub them so they become JubScalas. The original now cherished components would remain in original positions. I'm considering Jubing both my LaScala and Heresy using the 2 amps as Biamps since both amps have speakers A & B. The B2x for the Highs and the 1200B for the woofers. The A&H iDR8 can then manage both my soon to be built brand new Jubilees, the Juberseys and JubScalas. That's a lot of Jubing for one house, lol. Oooh and also I'm just a bit excited at the moment, it's 1:00am in Sydney and maybe since I don't feel like sleeping I will just listen to my LaScala all night again while relaxing on my bed, lol.
  6. I was emailed today that the Pass Labs X350.5's have arrived and I will get them this week. Each jub will have a x350.5 so one channel is for lows and one for the highs. Most of the time the amps will run as single ended class A. I love valve amps except for the maintenance. I like to have some spare power also so there is never any effort. Since 1976 my LaScala have been doing that first with my Marantz 1200B and ever since with the Yamaha B2X class A. The LaScala do it for me every day, day after day and then when you just need one song loud it's available without distortion, just louder. Generally that's Monday's 10:00am or New Years Eve, etc.
  7. Recalling back to 1975 when I was selling HiFi. It was my understanding that the serial numbers were always odd number lower than the even number as the tweeters were graphed and matched as pairs before installation so that the sound scape was balanced from left to right. No sitting lop sided or fiddle with the balance control required. The EV tweeters were also selected as they were very consistent in production runs and that was another reason for using them. Few rejects as was the case with other possible choices.
  8. Yes Yes Yes I'm so excited. My jubs will be in BR to match with my 1976 LaScala and 1981 Heresy. I live in a circa 1900 Victorian Terrace and the sound goes through the walls to entertain the neighbours. I would probably use 1/10 of a watt much of the time with my LaScala in my bedroom. Often, I go to sleep listening to my LaScala. They sound superb soft and my Yamaha B2x class A is a perfect room heater, I mean match for them. On Monday's after 9:00am the neighbours are at work and the shop downstairs is closed, then I give them a little exercise. My neighbour hood is very alive with restaurants, hotels, night clubs and noisy people late into the night all night on the weekends and thats a bonus. My neighbours never complain and are all very friendly. I can see I will need a very comfortable lounge to go with my jubs. It's so difficult being retired.
  9. I agree 100% it's like having a 16 cylinder engine so you never get to full power. My Jubilee will be hanging from the ceiling in my lounge room home theatre almost like giant "walk into head phones. The depth of the room is almost the same as the combined width of 4 Jubilee side by side. I expect I will have excellent dynamic headroom and negligible distortion. My Pass Labs amps will operate as single ended class A most of the time and for the loud bits rarely leave the high bias push pull class A to go into class AB above 40 watts. I think it will sound really good.
  10. I bought my house to match with my LaScala ,the room is 4.2m (13ft 9inch) wide and 4.9mb (16ft) deep with a La-Scala in each corner across the width. Now for the room directly below, I'm getting Jubs for the Home Theatre System. The room 4.2m (13ft 9inch) deep and 4.9mb (16ft) wide. The Jubs bass horns will be centre on the wall ceiling base to bass with the KPT-402-HF flown toed in and down at each end. I will use my Heresy for the surrounds floating toed in and down from the rear corners. A large set of headphones. The screen will be below the jubs. The amps will be upstairs directly above the jubs cables directly through the floor/ceiling. So after I have them I expect they will be to big for the house.
