  1. I'm in the same boat. I have two Emotiva UPA-1s monos blocks hooked up to my old Marantz 2270 playing through my Klipsch RF7II. Sounds amazing, but my 2270 is starting to show its age and will need to be refurbished. As soon the 2270 warms up i get static out of the left channel.
  2. Been researching some different power amps that are in my price range and I'm considering paring my Marantz 2270 with an Emotiva XPA-2. I'm not a fan of gear made in China, but all the reviews I'm reading seem to praise their products. This amp is 300 watts RMS into 8 ohms and 500 watts RMS into 4 ohms. At $799 thats not a bad price.
  3. I like your thinking willand. Those 700's are actually only 20 miles away from me. I think I'm going to have to go check them out. I wonder why they are so cheap though? Are these mono blocks low on the quality scale?
  4. Thanks for the advice Bill. They better be shipped on pallets! A 3rd party trucking company is handling the shipping, so I'll be sure to inspect for damage before signing the BOL. The KG4's have been great, but due to limited space I'm going to sell them. I've been looking into the Mcintosh integrated amps as an option, but some people say they are too bright with Klipsch. I've heard Mcintosh paired with Klipsch before and it sounds pretty amazing to me. I've had my 2270 cleaned and tuned to spec a couple years ago, but not sure if I want to use it as a pre-amp. What are some good integrated amps that pair well with Klipsch that you would recommend? On the other hand, maybe I should just use my 2270 as a pre-amp. So all I would need to do is add a power amp to the mix and I'm all set? Sorry I'm kind of a noob when it comes to home audio and the different components.
  5. Hey all, Just purchased a pair of cherry RF7 II's and they are on their way via freight. Figured it was time to upgrade from my KG4's (they are mint and will be for sale by the way). Do you think my Marantz 2270 will supply enough juice to power the RF7 II's? I believe its rated at 70wpc RMS into 8 ohms, and these speakers appear to be super sensitive. So I should have no problems with clipping or anything like that right? I plan to upgrade my components down the road, so the Marantz will have to do for now. What sort of amps do these speakers love? Thanks
  6. I think that I need to get these ASAP, just have to wait for the seller to email me back or call me. I'll probably end up selling the KG4s (which are mint by the way). If you guys know anyone in the Seattle area looking for a nice pair of KG4s send them my way.
  7. Sounds like its a deal I cant pass up then $550 seems like a fair price too.
  8. I've been looking to upgrade my 2-channel system for a while. Really wanted to hear some RF-7s but I cant seem to find a used pair at a decent price. Right now there is a nice set of Forte IIs with a walnut oil finish on craigslist for $550 with Bob Crite tweeter upgrade diaphragms. Would this be a pretty good upgrade from the KG-4? I like my KG-4s and all, but I think I could use a bit more bass and a fuller sound. Can't really explain it but sometimes it feels like my KG4's lack substance unless I push the loudness button on my receiver. A subwoofer is always an option, but I dont really have room for one.
  9. You should check out the Rega RP-1. I just ordered one in cool-grey. I'll let you know how I like it
  10. That's a good deal, wish they were in Washington. That craigslist guy still hasn't replied to my email that I sent. Oh well, I'll wait till I catch a pair for cheaper.
  11. Thanks for the input everyone. I just emailed him back and told him that I talked with some members on the Klipsch Forums, and that a fair price is anywhere from $900 to $1,200. We'll see how he reacts to this price range instead of the $1,700. I have a feeling he's going to think I'm lowballing him with a bad offer. I also told him that the price range is reasonable because the new RF7 IIs are out and his speakers are 4 years old now. Hopefully it didn't offend him
  12. $1,700 seems a little steep to me, seeing as the MSRP was $2,200. If I make an offer he will probably think I'm low balling him.
  13. The seller says he/she bought them in 2006 and is asking $1,700 for the pair. Do you guys think this is a fair price? They are for sale locally in my area and I want to go check them out.
  14. Thanks for the advice. Its too bad my pops won't part with his Chorus II's, those speakers rock extremely hard. My room is 11" x 13" so they might be a little too big for the room, although I could fit them in I will be doing some extensive searching so I can test some of these other Klipsch speakers out. Aren't the Heresy's almost a step down from the KG4's? Sounds like I need to check out the Cornwalls and the RF series. I will keep you all posted on what I end up going with. I think the KG4's would sound fuller if I could hook a sub up to them, but I dont have the space and dont want to piss off the neighbors too much.
