  1. This sounds interesting, where can I get the plans for the Danley LAB horns, and is this a DTS-10? Can you provide a link to the single LAB tapped horn as well? I have 2 LAB 12's and I am looking for the best project for them (to be used in a home theater and it always good to compare before cutting into the wood! Thanks!
  2. Yes, a great job on the construction and finishing, well done! I spent a few free hours going over the TubaHT plans yesterday trying to decide which size to build, overall size is not an issue because the room is a dedicated space and what ever I go with will be incorporated into the final layout. Originally I was going to build a ProSound LAB sub and that beast is 45x45x22.5 !!! Bills comment on the bottom of the first page is what swayed me "Of course, if you have room for an 18 inch cab or wider and already have the appropriate twelve on hand by all means use it"... I have 2 Eminence Labs 12 sub so I am leaning towards two 30" wide TubaHT's one for each side of the theatre screen.
  3. What size did you build and with which driver... also what will you power it with? And, how does it sound?
  4. Looks awesome! What/how is that finished, looks like you were going for 'piano black'? Automotive paint?
  5. That is good the hear Peter, I would rather go with larger dirvers then use EQ to increase the extension as I would prefer not to over drive the 12" to acheive what might be better handled by a 15" driver. So the plans for both are included when you buy the Tuba HT set? Al
  6. Thanks Peter, good to know, now all I have to decide is to make 2 Tuba HT's with the Eminence Lab 12's or buy 2 Dayton 15" drivers and make the wider cabs... I really want great low frequency extension as well as decent SPL's
  7. I am not asking you to share the plans with me but could you check to see if they include the cabinet size for 12" speakers, I think that thye are referred to as 15" wide cabinets? It looks like the T60 can use them as well. thanks!
  8. Here is where I saw the speakers I have listed... 12" version = Eminence LAB 12 From the Tuba HT page on Bill's website: The THT also may be loaded with a twelve, for a minimum width of 15 inches.. Depending on what the Eminence 12's would provide for low frequency exptension and SPL I might be looking a building 2 x 15" versions rather then 2 x 12" versions...
  9. thanks, I have yet to find a sub system that provides the bottom end I want/need, I was hoping that this was it. I will find the post in this thread I read about my particular speakers and see if I can edit it into the post above. If the plans are not for a 12" speaker then I don't really want to buy them...
  10. I was thinking of building a ProSound Lab12 with a pair of Eminence drivers (I already have these speakers), but a pair of Tuba HT's might be a better option, is there a plan design for this speaker? Would 2 subs based on this design be enough for a HT room 16x21? Sorry I am still reading the thread if the answer to this ans where to get the plans are already posted. Thanks!
  11. Thanks William, I checked out the Parts Store, their prices are quite high if you want to replicate an entire speaker but alright if you just need a couple of replacment parts. My reasoning behind this is an old post by one of the admin's selling off amoung other parts a 6-1/2" woofer and the Klipsch price was exactly 1/2 of the parts store ($15 versus $30 each). I was able to cross reference the part numbers and descriptions to the actual parts on a S-3 (except possibly the horn) and came up with a laundry list of the pieces to build 2 pairs of S3 surrounds: K-1004 Horn Brand: Klipsch Part Number: 130072 Usually ships in 1 business day $13.95 x 8Please enter numeric values e.g (123) $111.60 S3 Black Grill Assembly. Brand: Klipsch Part Number: 102365 Usually ships in 1 business day $29.95 x 4Please enter numeric values e.g (123) $119.80 S3 Network Brand: Klipsch Part Number: 116658 Usually ships in 4 - 6 business days $32.95 x 4Please enter numeric values e.g (123) $131.80 K-1169-N Woofer Brand: Klipsch Part Number: 120664 Usually ships in 1 business day $27.95 x 4Please enter numeric values e.g (123) $111.80 Tweeter K-138-O Brand: Klipsch Part Number: 160748 Usually ships in 4 - 6 business days $29.95 x 8Please enter numeric values e.g (123) $239.60 Subtotal: $714.60 As you can see this adds up quickly and I still need to build an finish the boxes! I am going to grab some breakfast and sip on a cup of coffee for awhile. You see I bought 2 pairs of S2's and they are deceptively close in specs to the S3, yes the woofer is slightly bigger but the tweeter driver is the same only the horn is larger... If I could get these parts for 1/2 of the above price I would pull out the saw and get busy but considering I bought the S2's (still in box) for 2/3 the cost of just the parts above it hardly seems like building the S3's makes any sense. ;(
  12. Thanks for the welcome Pat, I might just do that if I can break away from the kitchen reno's! A side benefit is that I will get to actually do a purpose bult home theater because of it!
  13. I'll try that, thanks for the welcome. I am considering a lttle project to convert my s-2's in the quasi S-3's buy building a new enclosure and replacing the 5-1/4" woofer with 6-1/2" units...
  14. Is there a place or document(s) where I can look up specific part numbers for Klipsch speakers. For example, I am looking at purchasing some 6-1/2 IMG woofers, and possibly the tractix horns like those used in the recently discontinued Synergy series (IE, S-3, F-3, B-3). 120660, appears to be a 6-1/2" IMG woofer but how does it differ from a 120664? Possibly the inclusion of the trim ring...? Thanks!
