  1. I'm a bit late to the party but you can't tell anything from those specs. The fact that the crossover point changed that much suggests that they used new drivers or at least reworked the design significantly. There are probably big differences in how they sound. However, if I were you I'd consider the RB-51 instead since it's gotten better critical acclaim and seem to be much more popular.
  2. I get what you're saying, and you're right, but 3 dB at those levels seem to make a big difference (I dunno if it might be because of this, but even if the perceived loudness isn't that much greater, bass pressure scales more favorably). My friend and I built a pair of PA speakers with 2x15" woofers in each. He got a professional amplifier specced to 2x550 W but when we tried them with another, a bit more expensive amplifier the difference is sound pressure was very noticeable, which is why he's getting a more powerful model. I'm not sure how much power the Onkyo 708 really puts out since I haven't listened to one. It says 2x130 W into 8 ohms on the official specs, so I'd guess it puts out perhaps 100 wpc.. That is still a far cry from what these speakers can take. If I were you I'd seriously look into a separate amplifier. I think these speakers deserve it =) Look at professional power amps, they're not that expensive.
  3. You're gonna need quite a punch to power them to their full potential. If you just want to use a surround receiver you might as well buy smaller speakers.
  4. The crossover also has some kind of serial code or something beneath the RB-61 print. The woofer baskets are made of composite plastic. Also worth noting is that while the woofer does appear to be shielded, the tweeter is not. And the magnet of the tweeter is quite sizeable.. Bit weird. I wonder if the tweeters in the center speakers are shielded?
  5. Oh, absolutely. She supervises every unboxing I do =P
  6. Sorry if this has been posted before but I searched around a bit before I bought my speakers and couldn't find any, so here are my own pictures of the RB-61 internals. I figured if I'm interested in seeing it, more people might be =) So here are some pics from when I cracked open my brand new RB-61s. Hope you enjoy. Overall I think they are some quite pretty internals. The drivers are solid and I especially like how the tweeter is bolted onto the baffle. The baffle is connected to the box via a big plastic/rubber sheet that eliminates vibrations. The internal wiring is marked Klipsch Custom High Frequency Cable for the tweeter and Klipsch Custom Low Frequency Cable for the woofer which is a nice touch. If there's anything to complain about I'd like to see some internal bracing in this speaker as the cabinet is not entirely resonance free.
  7. Not only is the tweeter not square, the front is molded in one piece with the horn so you couldn't rotate it anyway.. And as far as I know, the RC-62s are 2-ways speakers, not 2.5-way so both the woofers play the same range of frequencies.
