  1. Actually I tried to raise the sub level but Audyssey just cuts it back also. If you raise the sub level 10 db it cuts it 10back db. It tries to set every channel to 75l. If some channels are too hot it doesn't matter. I sent a question to Ask Audyssey and they r8ecommended putting a volume contrmol on the microphone.
  2. Would a nice set of Khorns be an even trade for 2 pair of heresy 3's. I have a really nice set of Khorns that won't work in my theater and need 2 pair of Heresy's. Should I just look for heresy 2's and keep the Khorns or trade them for heresy 3's.
  3. I have been listening to my Audyssey equipped AVR for a while and thought it sounded good. Then I read high sensitivity speakers creat an issue. I noticed all channels were cut 12db. I didn't even think about this being the max amount and that my speakers were not balanced. I set my sub to 75 which is what Audyessey tells you to do during setup. Then it tries to set the remaining channels to 75. Since 12db cut is the max, all of the other channels are running hotter than the subs. The other channels are not balanced either since the goal is to get all channels to 75. It doesnt care if they are not balanced Audyssey only tries to set all channels to 75db. So my Lascalas are still 6 db too hot and the surrounds are 3 db too hot. Just wondering if anyone else has this situation?
  4. I sent you a PM about a possible trade.
  5. I'm actually thinking 7.1 with 4 Heresy's. I also have a pair of Khorns I may start out with but hate the thought of wasting them as surrounds. My wife says I can put them in the livingroom for music. I will use 4 18" Fi for the subs and power them with an EP 4000. I currently have a Harmon Kardon reciever that I really like.
  6. I am going to use the FI IB 18" drivers. The front of the IB openings are covered over with plywood. The same sheet also covers the void where the concrete is. So basically the plywood sheet is 30" wide and the IB opening is 20" wide. 5" on each end of the plywood has concrete poured behind it. I am also going to put a piece of MDF over the plywood. I will then cut 2 holes in each baffle for the drivers. I hope this makes sense. The IB's are basically going to be mounted in a box with no back. The plywood is the front and will have 2 holes cut one over the other.
  7. I think I'm going to try to blow it in. Definately easier than the bat.
  8. People use the bass section of a Lascala with Jubile parts. They use the upperpart of Lascalas to improve the Cornwall. Why no no Jubwall.
  9. Here is where I am right now. Next step is to clean up and start wiring the room. I think I will sheetrock both sides of the first wall and insulate it. No need to sheetrock the second wall.
  10. I decided to go one more step and really eliminate any chance of flexing. I put the front on the sub opening and poured the the cavities with concrete. I also poured a 4" slab on top of everything. This took 3000#'s of concrete but this wall is now a solid mass.
  11. I was pretty happy with the results but noticed the large cavity between each sub box and Lascala box.
  12. Since this was going to be a Line Array of sorts I was concerned with flex. I tied the 2 walls together to eliminate all the flex I could. Both walls are glued and bolted to the floor. It really was pretty solid.
  13. Here is the space between the Lascala boxes. I basically built boxes for the subs. With the front baffle on, each pair of subs will be in a 40"x20" box with an open back.
  14. OK , I should have taken more pictures but I had a hard time designing a way to fit 4 18's and my Lascalas in the front wall. My screen is 12' wide and 5' tall scope. I only have about 10" on each side of the screen. The Lascalas are 35" tall and the boxes are big enough to angle the speakers in some. I can also lean them back some if I need to and the screen will go from the top of them to 4" below the ceiling so I had to fit the subs between the fronts. I'm going to build risers so each row will sit higher. I will have 2 rows of seating and a bar at the back. Here is a picture of what I finally came up with. I basically built 2 2x8 walls and built boxes for the Lascalas.
  15. Here is a picture of the side wall and ceiling framing. I splayed the ceiling so it is about 10" higher at the rear than it is at the front.
  16. Here is a picture of the room from the IB wall looking towards the back of the room.
  17. Here is a picture further back. The room will be about 25x13.6 when finished.
  18. Here is a picture of the basement area where the front wall and IB will be installed. The board on the ground is the location of the wall. This use to be a bedroom and there is a 10'x6' closet that can be part of my IB space if I leave the door open.
  19. Finally got started on my theater room. I had several goals in mind and some created conflicts with each. One requirement was to be able to use my existing Klipsch Lascalas across the front. Here are the speakers set up in an 11'x14' bedroom. I made a temporary screen out of laminate. The screen is 100" wide and we have been using it while I work on the theater in the basement.
  20. I bought a boat a couple of years ago that I still have. When I was looking there were several for sale with a (new engine). That brings up way more questions than all original does. To me I'll take a nice boat or car with the original engine any day over one with a (new engine).
  21. Think about this, If you were in the market for a set of Heresy's (which I am) and there was a stock set and a set that had been modded, which would you buy. I'll take a stock set and not even consider a set that has been messed with. At least with a stock set you know what you're getting.
  22. Have these improvement ever been tested. I really don't know and am wondering. My only concern is people who change things for the sake of change, never measure the results and claim the great improvements. I know Klipsch has improved on the older designs as time went by. The Khorn crossovers have been updated over the years.
  23. I know there are a lot of tweakers in the audio world. People make claims about cables and all sorts of tweaks making differences. I have always wondered about the claims about modded khorns and lascalas. I wounder why one of the best speaker manufacturers would not make a speaker as good as it could be. I wondered how someone with way less resources than klipsch could do a better job than the people who designed the speaker to begin with. I think they can't. I heard a set of moded lascalas for the first time and my impression is no thanks. I think klipsch did just fine.
  24. How would it sound to take the top off a Khorn and place under a screen, Then lay the bottom on it's side on the floor against the wall? Basically the base bin would be in a corner but it would be the floor wall under the top and screen.
