  1. What luck i had at an estate sale. A MAC 1900 w/an aiwa dual well cassette and a Benjamin Miracord tt.. When we got it home we discovered that the FM section was non functional. Even though this unit was in a smoking home, the gush hit me. The system was marked l ess than two hundred dollars and we agreed on FIFTY. After sending the unit off i sat back and continued to enjoy the Yamaha M-40 amp w/C-60 preamp. Well, one of the channels disappeared so out came the 1900.. As soon as the music started the veil was lifted. WHAT FANTISTIC MUSIC!!! bob will not go out and have the yamaha repaired. Instead, bob will continue to hunt for these sales where people do not know what they have for sale. All told this one find took ten years and many many garage sales and estate sales. (CHORUS I)
  2. ooops, i am currently under the influence of prescription drugs after surgery must decline/retract my offer. Boo hoo. Before surger I saw a pair advertised in local paper and drove to the house. The poor guy had them in his garage of all places and had had them there for over five years, they were moved from another garage, poor babies, and poor me . I just told the guy good luck..
  3. gpstrackman, I am willing to exchange one thousand dollars and pay shipping. Wait, no, I will drive and pick them up -------------------------------------------- Bob
  4. just to be able to acquire a pair at half price,I cannont turn down, spouse on the other hand will not let it happen. At least, not at this point, surgery w/o insurance. Continue placement, position and wire listening tests. enjoy --------------- bob
  5. Question, Ihave experienced a large difference in reproducion graduating to a KLIPSCH model, but after reading replies to HOW MUCH POWER, more isn't necessarily better. So better watts do come from these manfacturers? will keep eyes open and wallet closed until that someday another dream purchase might be had. We purchased a McIntosh 1900 receiver at an estate sale for $50.00 w/out cabinet but they threw in a Benjamin Miracord Elac series 10 tt and a dual well cassette that I later gave away. The FM section in the unit did not function so a trip to the shop was necessary. Haven't hooked up. other than MAC, Acurus and Arogon, other amps to consider??? thanks, robert p.

With ANY rated efficiency, the difference between 90 watts and 200 is not much more than 3 dB; an unimpressive increase for sure. The Quality of amps differs greatly and power rating has little to do with it. You may well find a 50 watt amp that both sounds better and plays louder. Obviously, the specs fail to tell the complete story. Get thee to a high end dealer (if you can find one) and have them suggest some amps to audition (at home on your Heresys). Beware as they will almost certainly try to talk you into expensive speakers too. Let us know what you hear. ROBERTPINSON@prodigy.net"]name@domain.comROBERTPINSON@prodigy.net

  8. Hey, What year manfactured? What finish? And did you unpack them???
  9. Forgot, that many years ago as Paul visitied many audio dealers across the country for demonstrations. A friend suggested that we go to one particular store that he would be at in our area. Well, I went by myself and shook his hand and received a "BULLSHIT" button. (He was wearing his "BULLSHIT" tie)! And alas, He had just lost his pilot license and had to drive (FLY) his mercedes down from Arkansas. Maybe sometime in the far future we may afford a pair of KHORNS. Quite a remarkable man, and products. Thank you, Paul
  10. Never in my wildest but mostly constant dreams of KLIPSCH, did I ever believe that I would own a pair of the CHORUS model.. I had always set my sights on the HERESEY model(affordableness). My wonderful wife suggested that after locating a pair of CORNWALLS to go and buy them, and, well the turned ou to really be CHORUS. They are '89 models and I can never go back to the speakers used in the past ( intro-fi Advent 12 inch woofer w/ferro-fluid tweeter with a three position frequency switch on the back ). Is there any upgrade necessary for these beauties?? Just curious, already enjoying immensely and daily. Thank you, DEBRA, I, We now have other components to update!!
