  1. I redid all the connections and have not had any problems since. Hopefully all is well (will let you know if problem recurs). Thanks everyone for helpful suggestons.
  2. I have only had Denon 3802 for 2 weeks, so whole thing is recent setup. It seems to happen the most when volume is high (though I have not figured out exact level yet). I am just hooking up TV today, so I may be able to get better idea from on screen setup (I had done this 2 weeks ago with temporary tv, but have not been able to check settings again.
  3. Recently installed a Denon 3802 with my system (4 KLF 20's, KLH 12 sub, C7 Center). The one problem is that at times it automatically shuts off (actually powers off). Not sure if I have a setting wrong or something connected incorrectly. Could it be volume level shutoff not set right? Otherwise, sounds great. Would appreciate any feedback.
  4. Keith - as respects Acoustic Research cables, which ones do you recommend? (I saw quite a few options at web site you mentioned). I need to connect DVD player, Satellite receiver, sub woofer, TV via Denon 3802 receiver. I pre-wired for 4 speakers and center with 12 gauge monster cable. System consists of: 4 KLF 20's c7 Center KLH 12 Sub Denon 3802 Toshiba 6200 DVD Toshiba 65H80 TV Appreciate your suggestions, as AR seems like it may be a good alternative to Monster. However, first time I've went about trying to wire a home theater system, so need all the help I can get.
  5. Brett - great advice however, not I've got more questions!: 1. I changed to the KLF 20's for the back as well (instead of RS3's). Does this change any of your comments? As they are larger speakers, should they be placed further behind listening area or still on the sides? 2. Hate to sound stupid, but what does bi-wireable mean? I got a price on 16 guage 278-1106 in wall at Radio shack that was pretty good $18 for 50. Do you think it is worth spending extra on the 14 guage - which I believe Tweeter quoted at .52 cents a foot not sure if that was 14/2 or 14/4 though? 3. For the Sub Woofer, I was going to use the 12 ft. Goldseries from Radio Shack for about $17 and the Megacable Premium speaker cable 16 awc from Radioshack for the main KLF 20's and Center C7. Tweeter was pushing Monster at higher prices - once again worth it? 4. Did not quite follow your comments about running the 14/4 wire to the sub woofer. I saw another post though where someone did seem to be having this problem. Am I connecting both wires into the sub-woofer? Thanks again!
  6. Finished purchasing the speakers for new Home Theater system (2 sets of KLF 20's for front and back, Ksw12 Sub and C7 Center). Now need to purchase receiver. Considering Onkyo 696 and 787, Denon 3801 and Yamaha 1000. Only the Onkyo 696 has Pro Logic II which I hear really is worthwhile for hearing older CD's.. Salesman at one store said there is little difference between 5.1 sound versus Pro Logic II. Is it worth waiting for new receivers to come out from Denon and Yamaha with Pro Logic II (supposedly coming in fall)? Which one tends to sound best with Klipsch speakers?
  7. Thanks for feedback. One question for HornEd though - what is the best place/way to find the "sweetspot location" for the sub-woofer (KSW-12)?
  8. Thanks for the feedback. When I was going to get the KLF10's, I was advised that the RS3's provided better "ambiance" (and that was what you wanted versus better "direct" sound in surround speakers. Sounds like the KLF10's or 20's might be the way to go though based on your comments.
  9. Doing first Home Theater with Projection TV.. as we are finishing basement. Need to wire for system in next day or two as we are drywalling at end of week. While I see quite a lot of debate on issue, what is a quality speaker wire for the money. (I am spending about $2,000 on Klipsch speakers (KLF 20s,C7, RS3 and KSW-12) and another $700 on receiver. Also, how do I go about figuring how much I need. Any other suggestions on what needs to be taken care of from wiring perspective (before its too late after dry walling - or at least gets more expensive).
  10. I am purchasing Klipsh speakers and could use some advice. Got a good deal on the KLF 20's for the fronts, planned to add the KLF C7 Center Speaker and the KSW 12 subwoofer. Would you recommend the KLF 10's (which I can get for $595) for the rear or the RS 3's? I have a good amount of space, so that is not issue... prefer not to spend more than $600 for the rears. Appreciate any advice on this and if balance of system looks ok. Thanks.
