  1. I have a pr and the 12's are located approx. in the middle of the back of the box. hope that helps
  2. I have been thru this before. I found that running Alac you needed to go into preferences and turn off the sound enhancer, next go to Quicktime and into preferences and click on Windows Audio Session. It will not overrride the volume control like Wasapi does in Foobar2000, but to my ears they sounded the same, mind you I'm getting old and long it the tooth however it all sounds great to me. 2S2P
  3. Hi Dave: I was wondering what came of the trip to hear the 2way/ 3way experiment with Justin' speakers. The thread seems to have been taken over. I am very intrigued to hear the final outcome. Paul
  4. Has anyone built or listened to that setup. I've been trying to get a project off the ground for the summer and I'm thinking of a 2-way LaScala build using Dave's Fastlane Eliptrac 400 mated to the Faital Pro and then doing a 40 hz mod to the bins. Trying to find out how a 2way sounds , or do I stick with the traditional setup? I'm all ears(apparently)
  5. Just so I'm getting this right. I am doing (bit perfect) for cd audio> out of my HP desktop that has all the players I need( blu-ray etc.) Now I have two choices Analog out to my amp, or Digital Coaxial to a Dac (shopping for) then RCA to my amp. As it stands using Analog out I'm relying on HP's onboard DAC to be bit perfect , and when I figure out how to test that I will. It looks like I will have to go digital out and stream thru a good DAC. What I have now sounds Incredible as it is., but I know there's more to be had. I hope I get this all figured out soon .
  6. Hi Moray : Got the D11 mkii and just as you said, stunning! I was never expecting that much difference to my Denon. It's like I am in a new league. You did a Mosfet output and did that improve things, I can't even imagine.I'm still waiting for all my parts from BEC so I can get my KG's going again and see how they perform. Anyhoe thanks for all the support Moray. Paul Lawtey
  7. Took my KG's apart and tested the tweeters with the speakers cables. One is dead and one is good. Put the good one back in and the speaker still sunds dull and flat and low volume. I looked at the xover but I cant tell if anything is wrong. I relly hope that someone can steer me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.
  8. Need help Please. I accidently crossed my connects while the amp was live( my dumbass ) Amp is fine, however kg's are not. They sound like someone threw a towel over them. I was able to do a high frequency test and able to hear up to 14 khz, but very weak. Any ideas what I damaged as I'm some what isolated from any technical help. Thanks in advance.
  9. That's what I thought at first, fortunately I have a another set of NHT's and they sound fine as I'm listening to Herbie Hancock right now and the my old Denon cooking fine. It's definitely the KG4's and they sound weird, like someone threw towel over them. I do have new Crites caps coming but somehow I don't think that's going to help. Thanks guys for the help.
  10. I accidently crossed my connects while my amp was still live. Now what I get is a dull sound even though the tweeters appear to be working , however at a much lower volume. Ran high frequency test and could still hear 14khz on down. Any Ideas what I done to my babies.
  11. Thanks I'll be sure to let you know, and I found a second pair of La Scala's , real cheap for my area, so trying not to get to many balls in the air.
  12. I'm looking to buy both as an upgrade , however I'm worried about the Sansui being to strong or harsh as I can't get the two together until I've bought them. Any experience with this combo would be much appreciated. One other option for me was to look at Crites Cornscalas. Thanks for the help in advance 2S2P
  13. You're right Bill. Just finished listening to Dave Mathews, Santana, and Herbie Hancock. Can't imagine that it will get any better, as we lose more than half our hearing by the time we get finished building our man caves.
  14. Thanks for the advice , and that's pretty much what I've got. So the long and short of it, possible not missing much, and then again that never ending quest for perfection, that most people do not understand. I'm setting up to rebuild the KG4s (crites xovers and ti diaphrams). By then I'll have researched enough about DAC's to write a book. Thanks for all the help guys.
  15. It's hard to give up on the Denon, it's about all I got left after 2 marriages. Anyhow I use the mouse as my remote, set the amp to a respectable volume and adjust accordingly, be it music , cable tv, or blu-ray.
  16. Thanks Mark that's what I thought. Any Ideas on what to get and what price range? Thanks in advance.
  17. I need help understanding whether I should stay with HDMI from puter to Samsung TV HDMI , then RCA out to Analog Denon amp, or to go to a seperate DAC for better sound. I'm using Itunes on puter and music is all lossless. I,m using decent connects from TV to Amp. Will I gain much by going that way or just focus on what I have and tighten them up.
  18. I finally got around to firing up my old Denon PMA 520 and hooked up these free KG4's. I now know why they were free. The two woofer had some big tears along the outer edges. So I go to my handyman drawer and look for a screwdriver to remove the drivers, when I noticed a tube of Speedsew (glue for clothes). I removed the woofers and very carfully laid a bead of speed sew on the tears. Let them sit over night and the fired them back in. Now I know what everyone else is talking about. I haven't gotten much else done but sit around and listen Alabama 3 & all of their stuff. Will let you all know if the experiment works, so far alls good. God hates a coward. Unknown gambler
  19. Hey thanks for the reply davis419b, you nailed on the head. Did my homework and now have a manual file, as I just found out that I need to replace two of the 8 in. woofers. My amp appears to be fine as I found that it's impedance is 6-16 0hms on A or B speaker and 12-16 ohms on A + B speaker set up. Thanks again 2S2P.
  20. Found these Klipsch in a closet of a house I bought. Just fired up my Denon and noticed that Klips were 6 ohm. I am trying to figure out what I have for speakers. No pics but can tell that they have a rear 12 in. woof, and dual 6-8 in. mids and a huge 8-9 in horn and made in 1984. There used to be a paper sticker on the back corner , but has been torn off with age. Any help would be grateful because I had the Denon since new and she 's been a real workhorse, and would not want to over work her with the beautiful sounding klips. Thanks in advance.
