Good afternoon,
Just a question if you dont mind.
First My gear I have a yamaha rx-z11 powering RF-7II mains RC-64II center SVS PB-13 ULTRA and 6 KSP-S6 surounds I use a Denon 3800BDCI for my music and movie via a HDMI hookup. I sold my chorus II speakers when I bought the rf-7's and I wish I would not for I felt the chorus were much fuller and richer sounding especially in the vocal's. My knowledge is limited and I am trying to get better educated, so here are my questions and any advice would be appreciated. Is my amp a good amp for Klipsch, Am I ever going to be satisfied with the RF-7'S (my original thought in buying them was so my surround would be better matched) OR should I go back to a cornscalla or klipschorn design. Nothing worse than spending money to upgrade and feel like you went backwords.
Thanks
Even though I love the sound I get
from the rf-7ii if it’s not your taste I would go back to what you liked. The rf-7ii
wouldn’t be considered an upgrade to the chorus; it’s more of a lateral move if
you ask me. So if you liked the sound from the chorus better (and it sounds
like you do) I would probably go back. Denon makes good stuff and the 3808 is a
nice avr it’s probably just your taste one over the other.
-
Yep np[] I think you will love it in
your set up. So you have rf-63s now?
-
Most movies -17. Could easily go as
high as -10 without the sound changing but my room is too small to go that
loud.
-
Why you pulling the driver out? []
I’d be too scared I would mess it up.
when I sent one of my old reference subs in to get fixed they put a small dent
in the cone[](store gave me a full refund)
-
I paid $707(xpa-5) total during a
sale they had(new year’s) I would wait for a sale, and yes they have a 30 day guarantee(
– shipping back to them)
-
Just not a lot of head room with an
avr powering everything. I would say at 1-10 watts per channel the sound is
probably pretty close. (Good avr vs power amp) but after that imo it’s not even
close.
If you watch movies at reference
levels regardless of the speakers or the room size imo separates will be a noticeable
upgrade.

I just purchased my first set of Klipsch Reference line in the RF-7IIs and RC-64II. Unfortunatly I needed smaller speakers since moving into a smaller HT space, replacing a pair of La Scalas and Belle center. Still getting used to the change. I've driven my HT with Yamaha for years now. I think their popularity is partly due to price. You get good bang for the buck. The Yamaha (RX-V3800) seemed a little bright for the heritage line (without sub) when listening to music at higher volume but no issues with HT. Works well with the RF-7IIs.
Very nice any chance you some pics?

I am pretty sure the horn size (as well as tweeter) is the same on the rf-82ii and rf-62ii, as far as the higher frequencies go i am sure they are pretty much the same. Now i have never heard the rf-62ii but i used rf-82 for a full year. I always thought they were sort of the perfect speaker; reasonably priced, were big aggresive looking speakers without being mammoths that took over the whole room and lastly the bass on the rf-82 can be flat out awesome. Either the 62 or 82 would be a good choice but i would not go smaller. I have the rf-7ii now and as you can imagine i had a perfect idea of how my rf-82 sounded and what they were capable of and the rf-7ii just blew them and me away. I am not saying this just because i have the speaker and am a fanboy, the clarity uptop and the rediculous bass was unmatchable. The rf-63 or rf-83 would be similar to the rf-7ii if you could find those but then you would have to deal with finding an original rc-64

Just curious here. I watch movies at the -20 to -24 range on my avr. Any idea what % of rated power I'm using? What level is your volume knob at?
You could use a db meter put it 1 meter away and start there.
Everyone’s set up is different some use the eq in the avr some don’t and so on. -
a sub would definitly be beneficial, the rf-7's really only shine when the volume is turned up with their extra tight bass at higher volumes. Right now space is a constraint. If i bought emo subs i would keep them for bedroom or other 2 channel setups. I would really like 15's but i have to do some research. I am just really curious about how the emo 12's will perform.
They (emo sub) got a great review on Audioholics, but they
seem to gush over everything emo puts out. If you feel that the subs won’t go
to waste if and when you did upgrade then I guess trying them can’t hurt.
At $500 I would look at what else is out there epik
makes a 2 12” (epik legend) for same price and if you buy 2 you get $100 off so
2 for 900. I have the big brother (Epik Empire) just an amazing sub for
$800 just as good as the 1400 svs sub I have.

I say make the drive if you have the time. The drive just adds to the provenance of the speakers. I don't have 1 piece of "new" gear in my entire collection (something I pride myself on), and for most I have had to drive a long ways for (OKC--->Indy and back in 36hrs; a couple of 10hr round-trippers here and there).
$1000 is a steal, what's a couple extra hundred in gas???
PS- I like to drive. I drive about 3hrs a day, and I love my job.
Lol I mean this in the nicest way but your nuts lol[] you
never know if the speakers will even still be there when you
get there. Even if
the guy guarantees he
will wait for you he’s a stranger. Can you imagine driving
10hrs and getting there and having him just not answer the
door cause he took
the sure $ from the first guy to show. And have to drive
10hrs back empty handed
$200 dollars in gas,
and a whole day down the drain. Wow

the subs, whatever i get will either be front ported/slotted or sealed and will be at the front of the cabinet. There should be no resonance because no waves should be entering the chamber. I may be building my own sub enclosures but at that, i dont have a ton of money to dump into subs. I could do just one nicers one but i would prefer two, will have to see how things go.
As far as the shelf bowing, the center is no concentrated weight in one place. The center is rigid and should spread the load further out on the shelf helping to prevent bowing, or atleast i hope it will. I will have to test.
The goal now is just to get everything setup haha. The room has a cathedral ceiling, historically the acoustics are meh in there but we will see.
It’s only a best guess but with those glass doors and all
the stuff on the shelves it probably won’t matter what type of sub you get sealed
or front ported. Bass waves are non-directional so the whole room gets pressurized.
Ill guess those glass doors will probably vibrate anyways but how much will
depend on sub placement. most subs vibrate unless it’s a sub that’s designed to
cancel out vibrations(like epik subs but they won’t fit in there) If money is
tight I would agree 2 subs are better than one but another option would be to
get 1 mid-priced sub now then another one down the road. If I would have taken
that advice I would have saved a good amount of money. You have had good luck buying used so far so that
might be a good place to start for a sub. No disrespect to the emo subs but there
not even in the same league as your rf-7 set up. I know coming from no subs
anything will seem like a huge improvement but just giving you advice from my
many mistakes.

I have a 5.1 setup and am using some older Onkyo surrounds and Onkyo sub with Klipsch rb35's for fronts and rc35 center. I would like to complete the system with Klipsch surrounds and sub. What would be the smallest surrounds that would pair well with the rb35's? I want to keep them small as possible to keep the wife happy. I currently have an older Pioneer VSX-516 receiver, but I plan to upgrade to the Pioneer Elite VSX-33 very soon so that is the receiver I am planning the speakers around. It is 110 watts per channel. Thanks! Ed
The RS stuff is pretty good rs-42
or rs-52 would both probably sound good with that set up. Also I would probably
go with a different brand sub. Nothing wrong with klipsch subs just better subs
for your money out there.

1000 is a good price
(rf-63)
but
1250 seems a little high for usedones. That’s probably why he wasn’t able to sell them. 1000 for rf-83 seems
like a great deal if they are in good shape
-
I personally would not put subs in a cabinet like that. Can’t
say for sure but I’m going to guess you will get loud vibrations at certain frequencies.
Also emo subs are probably descent for the price but in your set up I would get
something that digs lower to match with the 7s

Alright guys....I've been working a lot....but things are slowing down a little so I finally got rid of that crappy HTiB receiver and got a Harman Kardon and let me tell you....The Harman is a very warm receiver.....pairing it with the 7 IIs makes a great combo. Movies and music both sound great when I crank my system and yes I always have a smile on my face. I have some RF-25s as surrounds right now. Do you guys think using the RF-62 IIs as surrounds will make it sound better? Or even upgrading to the RF-82 IIswould make a difference? I really want to stay with floorstanders as surrounds because WOW they sound great in movies and using the Harman propietary Logic 7 5 ch mode sounds amazing too.....more so than it did with my RB61 IIs......nonetheless if anyone is on the fence about purchasing the 7s....don't wait any longer....just go out and get them! Once you get a full system setup it will probably sound as good as your local theater. I went to my local theater this past weekend and was actually disappointed. Its the best theater in the country with DLP projection and a full Klipsch system but I remember it blowing me away a few months ago.....now I'm like my system sounds pretty similar! Minus the room rumbling bass you can feel and giant 300" screen of course....nonetheless if you have the budget and space then get the 7s!
The rs-62ii is a very nice speaker, and its design is 100% surround
duty. So imo they will work better than the rf-82s in most cases (everyone’s room
and taste is different). They are a little bit spendy but i got a pretty good
deal on mine so at the right price I would jump on them you won’t be disappointed.
I agree as well about the movie theater experience. I went last week to see kung fu panda 2 and to me the sound wasn’t even
close to what comes out of the rf-7ii,rc-64ii (the massive amount of bass I have
always helps lol) grats on the new avr

My biggest struggle is that since I've been in the Klipsch world, I've never paid less than a grand for a receiver but now budget is talking and I'm not used to buying a receiver with so few plug options in the back. It makes me quite nervous because I want good quality sound and I really like the new network options on the TX-NRX09 series. It will be a loooong time before I could ever spend $$$ to add a separate amp so I can't justify going for pre-outs. Do I wait quite a few months if not a year for the 709 to come down another $150 (I could probably justify $600) or just get the 609 for the $490. Will I be disappointed? Thanks for the review links. I'm hoping there will be more as time marches on.
If the avr is going to be everything (power and processing) don’t
go cheap. You will get what you pay for, and if you buy cheap you will get
cheap. Imho find the model at your price
point then find the one above it on sale or used and get that one.
-
I had the rf-82s paired with the rc-62 and would definitely
say that’s what I would get. No reason
you can’t find a pair for your budget. I would look for around 30% off or
better.

Kind of lost me also [*-)]

I watched shoot em up last night on blu ray. The movie got
perfect scores on blu ray.com (that don’t always matter much) for pic, sound, and
movie. I have over 200 blu rays and can say it’s one of the top 2 or 3 sounding
blu rays I’ve ever heard wow!! []
And paid $6 for it new on amazon []

I gave mine to my dad he uses them as mains, they sound great

Lol my first set of klipsch

Lol yes it’s hard to follow a little bit but yes they love
the klipsch over there.

The Christian does not use logic to argue gods existence. They use words like faith and believe. They quote passages from the bible (a book written by man). Man created Christianity. I already said man created religion but I am trying to be more specific here so the point doesn't get lost. Religion is the worst WMD man ever invented. It has caused more deaths than anything else on earth. But hey, it has been a effective way to control population so I guess it's not all bad.
So do you believe in god and not religion? Or don’t believe
in either? (sorry unclear a little on you stand)
