  1. I bought a second sub-12 a few months ago. At first I stuck the second one over in the corner with the first one(only corner available) and it was an improvement but I was a bit dissapointed. After a while, I moved the second one over next to the couch right next to the listenning position. If you like alot of bass, this is the way to go. Not only did it fill the room much better, but the close proximity really rocks your seat. One day I will upgrade to something rediculous like the Epik Legends. But that will be in another house with a lower level dedicated theater. The setup I have now is already too much for my subdivision.
  2. I'm almost afraid to comment on my own thread LOL. I love the passion. I'm still not really convinced either way. I can see arguments from both sides and don't really want to put in the effort to research it myself. 3 identical speakers would be seamless and sound perfect. And I can see the center being designed to fit a little more conveniently. But something is telling me, if the center is going to be producing mainly vocals... wouldn't they set it up to produce them better than a l/r that will be producing the explosions and what not? I honestly have no clue. Sounds to me like the average person(me) probably wouldn't notice MUCH of a difference. But it is harder to find a single tower. Bleh. Any more comments on the rc-7 I found? Missing one woofer, the other woofer has a dented dust cap, scratched and dinged, no grill... 240 shipped. Fair price?
  3. Would another rf-5 for the center work as well as an RC-7? I always assumed centers were designed specifically for vocals or something like that... Im leaning towards over paying on this fixer upper rc-7 on clist. 240 shipped. Its dinged and scratched, missing the grill and one woofer , and the other woofer has a dented dust cap...
  4. Trust me, I want the RC-7. I've been looking everywhere but I can't find one. If I do find one, it's not the right color and it's 1000 miles away and shipping is not an option. I believe there are only 4 RC-7's left in existence today(that's how it feels!). I've scoured craigslist. My state and all my surrounding states. I've posted in the garage sale section and not gotten one offer. That speaker is rediculously rare. I've considered making the long drive to pick up Boboks RC-64ii. But even though it's a good deal, it's a long drive and it is more than I'd like to spend. Maybe I'll look into the RC-3... Is there much difference between the RC-3 and the RC-3ii?
  5. Is there another center out there that would be timber matched or work really well with rf-5's?
  6. Went with the pl premium. So far, so good! Thnx for the suggestions.
  7. There are some r-3650-w speakers on clist right now. My set up makes putting surrounds in the correct position difficult. What would you guys think about putting surrounds in the ceiling directly above the listening position? Also, does anyone know much about these speakers?
  8. *excessively loud whistle* Unklipschmanlike conduct!
  9. Department of redundancy department.
  10. Relative certainty. I like it.
  11. Updating previous update. This cable actually does work. I'm just a noob and didn't have things set up right. I got a regular rca cable and have been using that, then out of curiosity I hooked the old cable up and it works fine. Sry for all the confusion. Anyone getting cables or speaker wire, go to monoprice.
  12. I hadn't thought about epoxy. Im worried that if I use something rigid, the vibrations will loosen it again...
  13. I just bought a sub12 off of craigslist. I listened to it before I bought it and it sounded fine. When I got it home and started cranking it up, it sounded horrible. I ended up pi pointing the problem. When I would move the port it would make the same noise. I ended up pulling the port out(it looks like an oversized toilet paper roll with two black caps on both ends). Im hoping if I can use something to adhere it back in place, it will solve the problem. It almost looks like they used hot glue or something. I was leaning toward silicone. Any suggestions?
  14. The center will be out in the open. I love the way speakers look. I've already tried 200 shipped and he didn't go for it. I've got my heart set on the rc-7. I Rly don't want to downgrade after all the great things I've read about it on here. I probably should just be patient, but that's proving to be a tough task.
  15. Okay so rs-3's it is. Would the II version be much of an upgrade? When it comes to mounting them, will being in a corner interfere with the sound reproduction? I notice this speakers kind of shoot off to the left and right a bit. Would it be better to have them one or two feet from the back wall(that would put them even or slightly in front of the main listening position). Also, Im having a very hard time finding a rc-7 less than 10 hrs away. I found one that has some scratches and some stain worn off on the edges, missing one woofer and the other has a dented dust cap. I can get it for 240 shipped. Basically 70 dollars for a new woofer, try to pull out the cap on the other... throw a little stain on it and I'd have a decent rc-7 for under 350. Should I go fot it?
