  1. They are actually HPS 4000 made by Klipsch for John Allen for theater use. They are exactly like a Hersey 1 with a beefier woofer. Same horn/driver and tweeter/driver. They sell new from John Allen’s site for $750 each I picked up three for $250. Personally the sound better than the Hersey 1’s. You can check them out at HPS4000.com

Do a search on CL or EBay to see if there are any for sell.

  3. In my office I have a two channel setup for listening to music. I have a Denon receiver with preamp and a Denon D30L turntable and a pair of 1987 Forte’s. The cartridge on the turntable is an AT 95e. It had a Grado on it but one of the grandkids broke the stylus. I sold the cartridge. I have about a $100-150 budget right now. Should I upgrade crossovers or purchase a new cartridge. Where will I get the best bang for my buck? I have hearing loss in the upper register so the Forte’s sound good to me. But I’m itching to do some kind of upgrade. Lol

  4. in the bush, about anything is good as long as it's not nettle, poison ivy or cactus...

anyone familiar with RonWhite's bit on the bidet?

We had an out house so I used sears catalogs and newspaper growing up. Once as a kid, in the woods, I did wipe my *** with poison ivy!! I’ll remember that until the day I die. I’m just saying, I was not a happy camper lol.

  5. learning is a function of memory

Therapist Erik Ericsson said in his six stages of life that the last stage is “Ego Integrity vs Despair”. Do we come to the place that in our life we have lived lives of integrity or that our lives have been lived in despair.

  6.

The only types of music I don't listen to are current pop music and rap. I listen to a lot of classic rock, Americana, blues and jazz.\

Like I said, doesn't hurt anything to try 'em in the corners. Just doesn't work for me.

    Shakey

I tried it. It’s a small room (listening room/office). But in the corners I noticed I lost the imaging and soundstage. The sound from both speakers crossed each other pretty quickly. The bass seemed a little more enhanced and the speakers did seem louder. But I pulled them out of the corner and out away from the wall about 12”-15” like you said, with just a small amount of toe end. The imaging and soundstage really shined, and the bass sounded tighter. I can’t pull them out too far tho, because the room is too small.

  7. Sweet! Glad you're rockin out. I bought that same bluetooth adapter. Used it for a month before giving it to a friend. Been meaning to pick up another, thanks for the reminder.
That Denon looks good. 80 watts each channel will power your Fortes well.

Thanks man!! I read some reviews it seems a lot of people like the DRA-397, it also got good reviews also on its phono pre amp.

  8. I did buy an Amazon Bluetooth external receiver. Seems to work just fine. I do have a guy that’s trading me a Denon DRA397 with phono and sub-out. I have my little Fisher and some recording equipment he wants.

  9. I just bought a Epson Home 1080p LCD Theater projector. It is extremely bright and the colors are amazing. I have a small hone theater room. With Denon and all Klipsch 5.1. The current screen is about 96”. I’m planning on going with a little bigger. At least 120”. I think the picture quality is amazing. The ratio is 1:16,000 ratio. We have a 57” Insignia 1080p LCD flat screen in the living room. The picture quality is extremely clear. I guess the only difference I can notice is that the blacks seem darker on the TV than the projector but not enough that it matters. Clarity and color there is no difference. Hope this helps.

  10. If the Forte III’s are as efficient as the ones and twos. It takes very little to drive them. I’m currently using a 30 per channel older solid state Fisher amp. And it’s all the power I need. I’m just looking for something that’s clean and offers both phono and Bluetooth. Many people run Fortes on as little as 5 or 10 watt tube amps.

  11. Interesting comparison between 2 actually rather different speakers.

IMHO the strengths of the RF7 are in the imaging, soundstaging and focus whilst the strength of the Forte is in its midrange (arguably the best of all the heritage speakers - this was the Klipsch built for Rock music after all).

The choice comes down to what you listen to (and your personal taste of course). For me - classical demands the RF7 and Rock the Forte. I could see Jazz lovers going either way.

    YMMV and all that.....

Jazz lovers should go CW or stay home!

So do you feel that the major difference between the Forte I’s and Forte II’s would be the midrange and maybe bass?

  12. Doing more listening today. I have a live CD from a local central MN band that's extremely well recorded that I've used as a reference disc. Sounds incredible.

Last night my best friend made the comment when listening to a live concert DVD that the Fortes sound more like a live band playing right in the room and the RF-7s sound like speakers playing recorded music.

If these are from '89 as someone said they are in incredible shape for being almost 20 years old!

You mean almost 30 years old I have a pair of Forte I’s they were made in ‘87 so the are 30 years old and they are in excellent shape.

  13. Has anyone had any luck with LED Projectors? If so what brand and model? Looking for one that gives a good bright sharp image in low ambient/dark rooms.
