Well, I am looking to do a 5.1 setup. I think a 7.1 might be a little much in a small room like mine. My desk will probably be 3 feet from the fronts and 5 feet from the rears (willing to move things as needed). I'll use the setup mostly for games and music. As far as the types of speakers, I would like to go with what is going to give me the subtle detail I am looking for. My budget is under $1500 and I already have a receiver. Thanks all!

Hi, I usually play games with headphones which is nice because it allows you to hear a lot of subtle sounds that can be lost in a speaker setup (my experience in the past with lower end speakers). I also like headphones because they allow good surround sound positioning. I am hoping that I can put together a speaker setup that would allow me to get the audio quality I am used to with a good pair of headphones and offer good positional audio as well. The room I game in is pretty small at 10' x 12'. I want quality and immersion, but I don't want to waste my money on something that might be overkill. Does anyone have any suggestions? Would a good compact system be sufficient? Or should I go bigger? Many thanks!
