  1. It sounds wonderful. I can't believe the difference compared to the Polks. I think the RC-35 blends well. I did set it 3 dBs hot compared to the other speakers. That said, I definitely concur with the slight muddying of dialogue at lower levels. I found that when the actors were talking at a normal level you had to increase the volume a bit in order to understand what they were saying clearly. I had this issue with the CS2 as well and I wonder if it isn't partly placement. In the future, I may try elevating the center on a stand. This would allow the center to line up exactly with the left and right woofers. It only needs to come up a few inches in order to accomplish that. I'm not sure it would improve anything but it's a cheap attempt. All in all, I'm happy with the change. I always felt that the Polks lacked a certain punch. The detail with the Onkyo 809 and the Klipsch together is exactly what I was hoping to accomplish.
  2. I hooked it up by running the wire under the caps, so I suppose it doesn't matter after all. []
  3. I'm attempting to hook up the center now. The previous owner removed the brass jumpers. I am going to use wire instead. Do I wrap the wire around the posts or can I run the wire under the caps as you would when using bare wire to hook them up? It just occurred to me that I wasn't sure if it mattered.
  4. You're absolutely right. I'm currently rearranging things to see if I can slip it onto my stand. As long as it will fit safely, I can give the RC-35 a proper test. Can't have a speaker squishing my beloved dog [] Thanks for all the replies. They have helped tremendously.
  5. I have read a lot about the muddy sound of the RC-35. Is this due to the speaker itself or is this a power or placement thing? I mainly asked this question because, where I live, I haven't found a way to place the RC-35 for permanent use. I am going to replace Polk Monitor 60s and a CS2 with the Klipsch and the RC-35 is a bear compared to the smaller CS2. I will be moving soon and I was interested in getting the opinions of folks who had heard both in order to determine if I should also get a RC-3 II to test both or if the characteristics of the speakers were similar. I know listening would be best and I'm really just trying to get a general idea if that makes sense. I have seen several reviews that state the RC-3 II is a stronger speaker than the RC-35.
  6. That would be awesome. Unfortunately, I live in WV. I think most Craigslist sales are local only. I will contact him/her and ask though. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
  7. I understand the RC-3 II is a match for the RB-5s. I purchased the RC-35 last year due to the RC-3 being scarce. There are a few of the RC-3s on eBay, although, kind of overpriced. The Klipsch website described the RC-35 as "a more refined version of the RC-3." I suppose the question I have is would the RC-3 be a better match with the RB-5s? Are the two interchangeable? Thanks.
  8. EDIT Just realized the original post is very old. Ignore this one. [:$]
  9. There are a few things that I can think of that may help. You haven't mentioned anything about speaker placement. How do you have them placed in your room? Are they placed on stands or on furniture/the floor? What is the size of your room? When you say you get no surround effects is this with certain movies or with all of them? If I'm not mistaken, your receiver is a 7.2 channel unit. Have you confirmed that your surrounds are connected to surround left and right rather than surround back? The Klipsch 500 is a 5.1 package, so if you are running 5.1 with the surrounds connected to surround back, you wouldn't get sound from the surrounds. Are you getting sound through the fronts, sub, and center appropriately? You may also want to research the YPAO setup and confirm that you are doing the setup properly. I have a Pioneer with MCACC and after researching a bit, I found that I'd missed a few steps. I'd also recommend using a tripod to place the mic on during the setup. The mic should be placed in the sitting position at about ear height. I'm new to this forum, but I've had experience setting things up and I've done quite a bit of research for my own system. I'd be happy to help however I can.
