Very cool, don't think I've ever seen this version of the shorthorn before GLWS!

They are very rare (from the thread I linked to):

"Yes, one of the rarest, as only 48 were recorded.  #12 shows it shipped on Nov. 9, 1956.  However, several other units reflect factory updates at later dates.  Not sure if #12 just didn't get an update in the logbook. "

    From ad:

I bought these speakers 1995. I replaced the tweeters and mid range drivers in both cabinets. The woofers are still original. They are an acoustic cabinet. There are cones on the back of the cabinets for more efficient low frequencies. Each cabinet has the capacity of 1000 watts into 8 ohms. That's where my biggest problem came from I didn't have a powerful enough amp. The cabinets are made out of all oak. Each cabinet weighs 100 lbs. I worked at a furniture shop about 20 years ago so I ask the guy in the paint booth if he would clear coat them and he did. The cabinets are still in good shape for me having them for 26 years. The only place the cabinets show signs of wear are where they meet the floor from moisture. The drivers that I installed were OEM. I would prefer not to trade. I think these speakers had a 5 year warranty and they were still under it when I replaced the drivers.

Looks like he has a lot of other gear as well posted, including some McIntosh gear:

While it´s not for the faint hearted, there are instructions on iFixit for repairs. Have You thought about it? Or was the old mac getting long in its teeth anyway?

Thanks.  I've watched the videos. They make it difficult, but I am sure that I can manage the upgrade.

I will likely swap out the drive or can use an external.  This has a fusion drive (HD coupled with a SSD), so I could just remove the HD and use the small SSD.

The new one is better in all respects, but I will get the old one repaired and maybe use it with the Snapmaker or a media server.

  5. Good buys this week.

My 2014 Mac Mini has some drive issues, I bought a replacement 2018 Mac Mini 6-core i5, 16GB ram, 512GB SSD for $270 shipped (still selling new for $1299).

Luckily it is built well, since there was absolutely no padding in the box.

I also picked up a near new condition Snapmaker 2.0 A350 (3D printer, CNC, laser cutter) for a good price, it was 90 minutes away.

I have been wanting to try one for a while.
