I know the "enclosed back" K-horn topic has been discussed ad-nauseam - so I apologize in advance... but I haven't seen a clear cut answer to this question.
Referencing the image below - anyone know or have frequencey falloff curves for some of the following closed back configurations?
A - Area 1 - Current K-Horn bass bin footprint - similar to the newest model
B -Area 1+2 - Adding some extension, but not a full "false wall"
C -Area 1+2+3 - Same as above, but extending this flush with front face
D - Area 1+2+3+4 - Full "false wall" extension that stops at the plane of the front face.
I'm leaning toward "C" to save on some space, but am curious as to how much loss there will be. (Corrected... I had said D, when I meant C)

I really *don't* have room for them... but the biggest reason is I just love La Scala's as they were my first experience with Klipsch (My first pair I got for $550 in very good condition)....they hold a special place for me as my first foray into Horns..
What I'm going to do now is pull the Shells off these and see about adding backs so I can get them out of the corner - the shells add about 6" to the height and about 2" to the width - so it will buy me some room. Then I'll reevaluate for a bit... If I throw backs on them, these will be very close to what I had with LaScala's and I can adjust position and pull them out of the corners..... thats the thinking anyway...

Folks - sorry about this, but the only reason these were listed was a hail mary in hopes I could snag that set of LaScala's that sold last night here locally... I honestly don't want to sell them and just have cash to sit on for months waiting - and I'm not in the position to drive across multiple states searching..
So - I'm gonna hit stop on this. Before people start making big plans and such..

I rented a Dodge Caravan from Enterprise and they fit perfectly. The back seats disappear into the floorboard essentially making it a cargo van. And much cheaper than renting a cargo van.

These aren’t your grandmas K-Horns.
These are unfinished decorators in handmade custom cabinetry shells... nothing on these comes apart easily... but it can be done. Top hats were originally glued and screwed... then broke years ago... now screwed together with angle brackets inside... because I knew I’d need to take them apart again.
Edit for clarity:
When I say "top hats" I mean the top hat cabinetry. The actual drivers and mounting board are separate and slide in through the back and are screwed into place... easy to remove.
Not gonna lie - I do love these things - you guys are starting to make me waver in my decision...

If a miracle happened and I found a set of LaScala's before you have a chance to pick them up - I could get them in my garage for the time being.. now that winter is pretty much over, I can pull my small trailer out and set it in the side yard.
I do have another interested party as well, but nothing set in stone yet.
That being said - If you (or anyone else) wants to audition and buy these, I can hang on to them for a couple weeks until you can pick them up. As I said, I will just move them out to the garage for storage. Thats where they lived for a month after I initially purchased them..

Also - In the spirit of full disclosure - Understand that these are 50 year old speakers.. Cosmetically, they are very good - but there are blemishes.. and one of the grille frames I patched back together as it was broken when I got it - it needs to be rebuilt, but its functional.. Also - as you can see in the pics - the grille cloth is frayed at the edges from age.
I also can't guarantee the function of the original drivers - mids and woofers seemed ok... but the tweeters probably need new diaphragms.. Hence why I opted to just update everything..I would just hate someone to come from a long distance and waste their time expecting cosmetic perfection. Sound wise - I honestly believe these are the best you will ever find outside of some of the crazy horn mods from Volti Audio - with the updates, they will rival anything new....

Also - Plan on a couple of hours - these are downstairs in my den and were built up there. At the very least - I recommend we take the top hats and grilles off for safe keeping...
I do have a small dolly that we can use to get the bass bins upstairs.
Also - agree - an enclosed U-Haul is the best choice - I moved them in my minivan and that was before I rebuilt them... they wouldn't withstand the trip again without serious disassembly.

I purchased these last summer and completely refurbed them - All new drivers from Crites plus new crossovers.
Original Drivers and X-overs are included.
Update list:
"A/4500" crossovers...
CT120 tweeters
A55G midrange drivers
CW1526C Cast woofers
New midrange driver to horn gaskets
Looking to get my investment back out of them - so priced accordingly.
Here is my build thread:
They are currently setup in my Den and can be auditioned easily.
Will also consider trades for similar condition LaScala's.

While super cool - and something I have thought about a bit....that is going the wrong way as I'm very limited by the size of my K-Horns. (not to mention I couldn't swing the cost..)
I've got Decorators with custom shells that were built in the 60's... I'm planning to ditch the shells to save a couple of inches per side. The question about the tweeter and midrange setup is simply an academic one as I'm planning to rebuild the top-hats and need to decide on a layout. As you said - I'll likely stick with the current arrangement.
That 402 Horn is so cool though...

Looking for a new project - and am thinking about reworking my K-Horns a bit.
Currently, they use the standard Tweeter over midrange setup. But I have noticed others modifying the placement to side by side with tweeter on the outside, I assume for wider imaging?
Can anyone enlighten me on the reasons for the change?
Also - I plan to make the top hats adjustable for angle so I can direct them down a bit as desired for sitting position.. I'll also be enclosing the backs to get more placement options.

Prefer with midrange horn... don’t need drivers.. cash or trade / partial trade..
Looking for a winter project and thought I’d throw out a feeler... I’m located just south of Flint, MI..
I have a beat up set of rf3’s as possible trade bait... they were damaged in the accident at our house last spring.. drivers appear in tact but I haven’t torn them apart to check..

Just FYI - these don’t have any attachment method... just smooth backs.
I used small neodymium magnets to attach mine.

Not currently - look for eBay ID grossbjorn and see if he can make you a set.. that’s how I got these. It’s a great service for folks with vintage audio needing new badges.

My K-Horns are finished...
(Sorry if you are on the FB group, this is a repeat)
I contacted Klipsch to get a set of 70th anniversary badges as mine never had any (customized decorators)... but they don't have them...
So - I found an ebay seller who makes reproduction badges. I sent him a pic of the 70th anniversary badge and a scan of my original labels with the script Klipschorn logo and he came up with a very nice design that is quite close to both the script and the style of the 70th anniversary badge.

I’ve got them in my Heresies and K-Horns - also all new Crites drivers in the K-Horns.. couldn’t be happier.

I'm not going to lie - I do love these - a LOT... but there is a chance I would go back to LaScala's simply to give me more options on placement.
Currently I have a major issue in the space - the ceiling above the speaker on the left - you can see a slight discoloration. That has been there for years - I figured it was just an old dried up water damage area. it has never leaked....
Well - now I routed my Coax through a hole in that area - and the other day when I got home there was a puddle on top of that speaker. I have either got severe pipe condensation or a slow leak in the supply line to my shower up stairs.. Going to investigate tomorrow.

Spent some time at the house last night - and decided to run the pink noise room tuning routine on the DEQ2496 to see how flat the response is in the room... I was shocked...
Here is the "auto-tuned" curve..
That's the flattest curve I've ever gotten in this room.. These drivers and crossover really are nice and flat in overall response.

Camera is compressing the view... I'm about 8-9 foot back. Speakers are on a 9' wall.
So - in theory - the "triangle" intersection is at approx 4.5' from the wall. I'm another 3.5 feet back.
Soundstage is very good and I'm very familiar with near field listening spaces... I've has Electrovoice Sentry IVb, Magnepan MGiic and LaScalas in this same space...
I know you guys like huge rooms for your K-Horns... if anyone has a larger house they'd like to donate....

My bad - I meant "C"... to save some space.... trying to type and put this together in between jobs at work...
