  1. That seems to be a very good deal. I would expirment as what sounds best. Maybe use both subs, use only the new sub Klipsch LF-10 or use the KSW-12 on the center or maybe rears. ------------------ http://www.autodirectsave.com
  2. Are you telling me i can't create an SVS? With high excursion driver and a BOX program, you can easily create an SVS that could even surpass and SVS as some people have created. What i am trying to say is that what they are doing is not rocket science. It is a well known fact that the bigger the box, the deeper the bass response... to a point. With a box design program, you pop in the prameters of a high quality woofer you can buy for $150, get the perfect ration of bass extension to SPL from the program and BAM you start building that box for around another $100, plus a 250 watt amp from parts express for another $150. For about $400 you can have a SVS. As what drivers you use i would probably pick a CERWIN VEGA VEGA series with a xmas of 19mm or for a few bucks more an audiomobile sub. Adire subs are really popular too. ------------------ http://www.autodirectsave.com
  3. How does the Earthquake Super Nova 12 FIT into all of this? How come nobody ever mentions this bad boy? I bet you guys think its not muscial? Here's my opnion of the SVS: They take high quality automotive subwoofers probably made by audiomobile (looks just like it) and stuff them in super large containers and power them EXTERNALLY because then they can just buy an amp from a manufacture. They tune the ports really deep and say they have created the next best thing. As a fact, their design seems non critical since lots of people have recreated the same design from scratch. Every manufacture can give huge boxes and get better sound, its just that most Normal people don't want huge boxes in their house. I personally won't want TWO huge tubes next to the TV. Lets see them design a Sunfire, you just can't pop a radiator and a speaker in a box and get a sunfire. ------------------ ------------------ http://www.autodirectsave.com

  5. $300 SHIPPED - Almost brand new - used very little for 1 month. Have original box and manual. I bought a Earthquake magma and i need room for it. Email me if you are intersted. toussi1@hotmail.com This message has been edited by toussi1 on 12-21-2001 at 01:42 PM
  6. I will sell you my woofer out of my KSW 12 ------------------ http://www.autodirectsave.com
  7. Hey, i will sell you my woofer in my 2001 Klipsch KSW-12 less than what ever klipsch wants for one. Its hardly used. Only 3 months old. ------------------ http://www.autodirectsave.com
  8. I have finally found the perfect driver for the replacement of the KSW woofer with a new one. The only reason i would do such a thing is because i find the KSW really boomy. The Cerwin Vega SERIES 12 (red surround) : QTS : .33 VAS: 80 LITERS and a FS of 23HZ. Xmax is rated at 19mm. According to my box program this seems a pretty good match for the box of the KSW-12 : about 1.1 cubic feet and TUNED port at 38.5 HZ. YOU GUYS help me out an plug that data into your programs and tell me if it is reasonable idea. Thanks. ------------------ http://www.autodirectsave.com
  9. Actually no audiobahn i know has 25mm xmax... but there is a good deal on a Volfenhag 12" subwoofer which i am really considering with 16mm Xmax: that's about 1.26 inches peak to peak (larger than many subs out there). Price: roughly less than $80 shipped. Here are the specs. Let me know if this would make sense to replace the original KSW woofer (the KSW-12 has about a 30oz magnet) ---------------------------------------------- 1000 Watts Max Power 500 Watts Continuous Power Red Cast Aluminum Cone Red Cast Aluminum Basket Dual 4 Ohm Voice Coils for 2, 4 or 8ohm Operation Efficiency: 89.5dB 1W/1M 6.3" Mounting Depth Fs: 30Hz, Qts:0.526, Vas: 1.98 cu. ft., Qes 0.614, Qms: 7.698 Bumped & Vented T-Yoke High Temperature 4-Layer Voice Coil Double Damper Heavy Duty Industrial Magnet Structure Push-Type Terminal Posts ------------------ http://www.autodirectsave.com
  10. Maybe you didn't understand me. I OWN THIS SUB. I am wondering what the xmax? Its not a bad sub, but i am thinking of possibly replacing the woofer with a High performance (huge magnet, huge xmax) woofer maybe to make it sound better. However, i am aware that the drivers needs to have the correct parameters for this type of enclosure. I don't know how much good it would do the sound to replace the woofer with a 500RMS sub with 2 inches xmax and a 20 pound magnet when the amp is rated at 105watts. ------------------ http://www.autodirectsave.com
  11. What is the xmax on the KSW driver? For some reason Klipsch won't give me the Parameters for the driver... its like whos going to try to copy their weak design. I am just curious as how good the subwoofer is if i want to maybe replace it with a high excursion maybe aluminum audiobahn subwoofer or other brands... ------------------ http://www.autodirectsave.com
  12. Yea no kidding. The amp has no cooling method other than it being open inside to the box. What would you guys think of replacing the subwoofer in there with an another subwoofer with huge Xmax: such as the Infinity Perfect or a kicker or Rockford fosgate? But, might as well just build a subwoofer and keep this sub too. later on of course. ------------------ http://www.autodirectsave.com
  13. 20 HZ bass is now more there than before... but not huge differnce. Still i get lots of port noise. The only thing i can think would be to cover the port. I think the sub sounds better with the port closed, no more port noise. ------------------ http://www.autodirectsave.com
  14. I have a computer software sound generator. I don't have an SPL meter. I just have ears. After everything i did to it, it sound cleaner, less boomy and more musical. I put 1 pound of acousta stuff + the stuff that was in it already + replacement wire. ------------------ http://www.autodirectsave.com
  15. After i added 1/2 pound acousta stuf i wasn't too happy about the results. I added Another 1/2 pound and i am happy to say this sub sound more deep and cleaner than before. So i would recommend anyone to do this. ------------------ http://www.autodirectsave.com
  16. I notice that the sub produces excess port noise at or below 32 HZ... Put it seems if i cover the PORT with something, there is more deep bass when i am running the sound generator. So do you think if i stuff the Port this will turn into a sealed box and may sound deeper? ------------------ http://www.autodirectsave.com
  17. oKAY, SO DID IT. I opened the Box up, and found a rather weak looking subwoofer. First, its a steel basket with a maybe 30 ounce magnet and vent. Then i realized how shitty the wiring to the subwoofer was. It was 20 GUAGE WIRE!!! I couldn't belive it! How would klipsch go so cheap. How much more does good 16 guage cost? So i removed the wiring and got some left over 16 guage radio shack wire. Crimed the connectors on and installed it. Rhe box already had foam. However, the foam was layed in their bad. The foam was just sitting in the middle of the box. So i removed it, cut it into 3 pcs and attached them to 3 walls. Then i loaded the box with some acoustic stuffing, just a little (1/2 pound). So, does it sound any better? Well, honestly its not a whole lot different than before. It could be a Tad deeper, and a Tad better sounding. Would i recommend everybody do this? Well, i don't see it doing any harm if you have 1 hour free time do it! ------------------ http://www.autodirectsave.com
  18. So today i got the acousta stuf. If you ask me it looks like pillow stuffing. (just cost me like twice as much). The directions say to Line the walls of a Ported box with the material. It says use some 3M spray Glue. Well, I don't have any, nor do i want to spend another $5 for this little project. I will probably use a little of rubber cement type glue, and that should do the trick to hold it in place. I am just afraid that if the amp fails on this KSW-12 in the near future, i would have altered the interior and they could say its a VOID of warranty. I have noticed that this amp runs pretty hot when you have the sub running LOUD. What do you think. ------------------ http://www.autodirectsave.com
  19. Oh, room size is actually more like 9X10 X 5-8feet ceillings. I don't think i have the room to put boxes in the corner, nor buy expensive foam for the walls. I don't want to make my room look Hideous! Its already crammed with a computer, SF-2's and a bed, Another unused 8" subwoofer with alot of other Shiit . ------------------ http://www.autodirectsave.com This message has been edited by toussi1 on 09-26-2001 at 11:21 AM
  20. Thanks for the info... Yea, slam is not an issue anymore, since i can't turn it up too much anyways because of my ears and the threat of something breaking in my room (9x10x8). And 50-60 HZ bass simply gets annoying when in excess, ears start hurting. I geuss if am expecting too much from this sub. But, it won't be my first sub. I will surely eventually build me one of those SonoTubes with a good 15". And the reason why i think this sub doesn't go down flat to 20 is because the Box is TOO small. Klipsch designed this sub for higher SPLs, and attractiveness. I am sure if they gave it another cubic foot it would go deeper. I run sound generators at 20 HZ and the Sub is viberating, and lots of air comes from the port, its just the box that isn't designed for 20HZ bass. ------------------ http://www.autodirectsave.com
  21. Acutally, if i wanted DEEP bass, i would go with an EarthQuake Magma 15" subwoofer (25mm Xmax 500RMS) in a SonoTube 8+ cubic feet enclousure + a Port Tuned at like 20 HZ. Also, a 250 RMS Amp from Partsexpress.com I think that would give some breathtaking results. I would estamite it would cost something around $600 - But i don't have the cash Nor the space for a gigantic Tube. ------------------ http://www.autodirectsave.com This message has been edited by toussi1 on 09-25-2001 at 10:29 PM
  22. I don't have results, just my ears. i am going to stuff the box (some) acousta stuf from partexpress.com...i'll keep ypu posted if it does anything. ------------------ http://www.autodirectsave.com This message has been edited by toussi1 on 09-25-2001 at 05:02 PM
  23. www.partsexpress.com has some acoustic stuffing called Acousta Stuf; it says it is suppose to deepen the bass of any enclosure. Well, will this stuff deepen my KSW-12 bass response? Maybe make the below 30HZ range more output? Thanks. ------------------ http://www.autodirectsave.com This message has been edited by toussi1 on 09-20-2001 at 07:25 PM
  24. Do what do you think? Should I install stuffing inside? by my ears, there seems to be alot of boomyness in the 60HZ range; maybe its the room. I have the crossoever at 40 HZ but still not much help... I hear that stuffing can reduce the FS? Deeper bass? ------------------ http://www.autodirectsave.com
  25. I was looking in the Port today and noticed there is no visible stuffing? I always thought that high quality subwoofers had stuffing inside and is very recommended. Am i not see the stuffing or did klipsch not put any in??? ------------------ http://www.autodirectsave.com
