  1. Thanx. I purchased through amazon on Friday for $549 and it was there Monday with free shipping
  2. I picked the speakers here locally in Indy from an add on craigslist. Everything came a day early which was a pleasant surprise. I have some wire on order from monoprice so I used some stuff I had already with the help of my 11 month old. I tried to run the audyssey and followed the instructions on pages 31-33. When it completed the test, it couldn't pick up the sub. On page 33, it talks about powered subs and how to set them. I tried with the low pass set to off as it states and no dice. Also tried runs with volume at halfway and full volume and still nothing. I can tell you that when it "tests" the sub it is definitely working. Any ideas? Also, tried the oppo and after it powers up it shows the "oppo" screen and them my ancient hitachi rear projection tv switches between a couple of video settings like it's trying to figure out what to do and then goes black with some fuzzy moving horizontal lines. I can't even run the setup because I can't see what's on the screen. I'm wondering if my tv is too old for this player. I should be getting the new one on Tuesday.
  3. Picked up the Klipsch speakers listed below in my tag line last week. Should have delivery of the Onkyo listed in tag line tomorrow as well as an Oppo BDP-93. The TV won't be here until next Tuesday and in the interim I will be utilizing my old rear-projection Hitachi. I'm looking for someone to help with ensuring that I have the wiring correct, running the Audyssey, different surround modes, workign correctly back and forth with everything, etc. Also assistance on how I would hook and and get receiver to recognize the Yamaha M-40 if I choose to bi-amp the RF-82's. I can provide unlimited pizza and beer!
  4. I have decided to go with the Onkyo TX-NR709 and just placed my order. Now the search for a Blue Ray. I'm thinking either the Oppo BDP-83, a PS3 (even though we already have an XBOX), or to save a few bucks go to the Panasonic DMP-BDT210. I'm leaning to the Oppo since it would seem to "fit" better in terms of the rest of teh quality of the system. Anyone else have any suggestions?
  5. Can someone please provide some assistance? I appreciate it - thanx
  6. I have just moved into a larger home and now have the ability to put together an area to watch movies/TV (65% of time), games (25%) and listen to music (10%). I have just purchased (2) RF-82, (2) RS-52, (1) RSW-10d and (1) RC-62. I have a 55" Samsung LED on the way. I was originally going to do this on the first floor but the big boss feels that the TV over the mantle idea would put it too high in the air (I do agree that it is a higher than normal mantle) and it would have to go in the corner. With our furniture and such I think doing a corner setup with the above speakers would be a losing battle. Also, our master is on the first floor and the proposed location in the basement is at the opposite end of the house from the master so when the kiddos have people over to watch movies it may be a little less intrusive. Like I said, this will be in the basement so a concrete floor under the carpet. After reading some other posts it sounds like I may need to consider adding another sub. I've been stuck in the early 90's (rear projection TV, 2-channel stereo, etc) so I've got zero experience wtih surround setups. I'm looking for suggestions on two items with the first being the setup as I've diagramed. I'm guessing that the front speaker placement is going to take some moving around but I wondered if you had some initial suggestions for starting points as far as how far off the back wall, from the side walls, etc. Also, the rears will be mounted flush on the back wall because although I do have an option to put it on the side for the right speaker, the left speaker doesn't have a "side" option unless I hang it from the ceiling due to the rest of the basement opening up to the left side. With that being said, how far off the ground should they be mounted? Do the two windows on the right side need to be dealt with in any way? The are "window well" types meaning that they are approximately 3' tall but look out into a pit. They are there to just let light in from above the pit opening. Finally, what cable and connections would you recommend? The second area I have questions is in regards to the receiver. I have a 25 year old Yamaha separate Pre-amp and 3-channel amp that I'm guessing does nothing for a surround system. I've been looking at Onkyo, Integra, Denon and Anthem. Do you think something in the $1,000 or under range would suffice for this setup without taking away from the speakers? This is my first post on this forum. I can already see that it will be a ton of help. I love the internet mostly for the forums. It always amazes me that no matter what your niche is, there are 100's or 1000's of others that have a passion like you do. Craig room setup drawing.pdf
