  1. Hi, thanks for the replys and helps guys! My living room is about 14 x 10, not small but absolutely not super-large by any means. I wrote in directly to Klipsch, and they are helping me. I messaged their Facebook page, and they got back to me within a few hours asking my room size, and then in the last few days I haven't heard back from them, but I'm sure they're looking into it. Anyway, I think (just a thought, I have no substantial evidence to base this on) that the RF-7 IIs are simply stunning visually and would be blissful and booming beyond anything I've ever experience... that perhaps the RF-82 would be my best bet. With what I'm upgrading from, it will be a HUGE - HUUUUUUUGE - MASSIVE upgrade! Besides, even though things financially are fine for me, I'm not going to be on the cover of Forbes anytime soon, so I can either get a pair of used RF-7 IIs or an ENTIRE new 5.1 system from the second-tier of the Klipsch Reference line that will certainly fill my home with awesome sound. Plus... I have to consider the received (I'm 99% certain I'm getting the Onkyo 818 with the built-in EQ and a really impressive 120+ watts per channel), and I'm going up to a new 70'' 3D-HDTV as well. I REALLY appreciate the input guys, and agree 10000000000% that the RF-7 II's would melt my face off... but... sometimes it also comes down to dollars and practicality. Have a good one! PS: There are a pair of "like new" RF-7 IIs in the Atlanta area on Craig's List (well, there was 3 nights ago when I checked on Search Tempest's website) for only $1,800!
  2. Hi erveryone, Contingent upon the sale of my vehicle which is currently on the market, I will be IMMEDIATELY in the market for... ideally... a pair of RF-7 IIs to begin my home theater cultivation RIGHT! However, since those are somewhat hard to come by and usually audio lovers only sell them to upgrade to something outrageously amazing like Palladium or THX, I would be more than happy with a 5.1 RF-82 home theater system as well. My vehicle could sell tomorrow... or in June... but as SOON as it does, I will have some available finances to finally make this ambition a reality! Thanks guys! PS: Can someone please provide a practical explanation of the difference(s) between the RF series: RF-42/52/62 and RF-82 when it comes to sound-reproduction, efficiency, and immersion? If the RF-82 5.1 system is truly noticeably different/sturdy from the lower RF systems, I will absolutely go in that direction... however, with the cost difference and savings on the lower systems, if those would reproduce accurate and pronounced sound without distortion that would help greatly to know so I can save some money while still enjoying Klipsch quality... however, I highly doubt it, since there is a reason after all for the different models, and going lower than the RF-82's would leave me wanting to upgrade sooner rather than later.
  3. Shame on them...but flatering nonetheless. Ivan, I fixed the link in my post above. Here is is as well... A New Love and Appreciation for the RF-7's THANK YOU, READING IT NOW!
  4. Great post! Thanks a lot for your really insightful educated help, it makes a lot of difference. I'm from Ohio by the way, haha, but I don't watch sports. So basically, keep looking on Ohio Craig's List and Audiogon for RF-7's? Sounds like even if I went with some amazing speakers like the RF-82's, I may still years from now really regret not just getting the RF-7's and blowing my house down.
  5. We designed our living room, and neither black nor cherry would work, but black would look much, much better. I will scour for RF-83's or the RF-7's in the meantime... obviously, the RF-7 setup would be amazing.
  6. Yeah, I figured as much! Shucks... I'm not exactly in a 'hot bed' area for Klipsch. Oh well, no harm done. I'll just have to wait it out until it's time to pay in full, and not stress out about interest on a credit card. Thanks everyone! I'll be back sometimes next year, see you all then. If by that time nothing new has been released by Klipsch, I'm going with the RF-82 system, probably from Acoustic Sound Design, unless I can get a local retail authorized shop to price-match what's-his-name's quote (Mike?) the owner over there.
  7. Any tips on how I can safeguard myself on Craig's List buying Klipsch?
  8. Thanks Derrick and Ajoker, sounds like solid advice. The RF-35's are just the discontinued predecessor to the newer RF-82's? I have been using those sites that let you search ALL of Craig's List in the USA at once, which is awesome, but still coming up short a little bit, plus, I don't know if I can trust someone to be honest who lives on the West coast for example and pay them to ship, so... bleh.
  9. Thank you! I keep thinking to myself... just WAIT, and do the RF-82II's! I have an amazing price quote from Mike at ASD from months ago I'm sure is still good, so I will just save up and wait. Grrr... if I wasn't so addicted to horsepower!
  10. Hiya guys, I'm "back" and glad to be so! Please forgive my duplicate post from another section of the forum, but I'm only 'active' in 2 or 3 threads and wanted to cover my bases, thanks everyone! I ended up getting a new vehicle a few months back when I was deep in research on the new 5.1 system I wanted to get. I am still totally convinced I'll be going with Klipsch, just unsure if I still want to devote a couple/few thousands of dollars toward the speakers now... or if I should get something more conservative that will still be a huge improvement on my setup now, and wait a couple years until Klipsch releases something brand new and ground breaking that is perhaps still in research and development right now? Does anyone know if they have anything new on the horizon? Thanks as always gents. Just out of curiosity... what would be the ABSOLUTE BEST 5.1 system I could get for "around" $2,000?

  12. Yeah I don't think Mike would purposefully steer me in the totally wrong direction, even though of course it makes sense for him to direct me toward the PL-200 sub that a couple online distributr's "give away" in their 5.1 systems. All in all, the RF-82's when driven with 130+ watts per channel (especially the front) will produce enough rich sound in their own right. Thanks guys!!
  13. I got the system in my sig for $3135 (minus the AVR) and got quoted the same system with the SW-112 for a little less than $3000. I got it local, but I'm fairly certain you can find at least as good or better of a price if you shop around. So if you don't go with the RB-81 IIs for the rear, that should knock another big chunk of money off. I don't remember how much they were exactly tho, probably around $600 to $650 or so for the pair... I keep wondering about the SW-115, my living room is only 14 x 9 (it's long, which is nice for a theater, but not very wide) so 15'' of raw bass might be much? I don't know, maybe you can never have too much bass as long as it's nice and right and ADDS to the movie/music experience rather than overdoing it. Also, after talking with Mike Embers at Acoustic Sound Design, he REALLY 'sold' me on the idea of saving money by going for the RF-82 system minus the SW-112 subwoofer, and in stead going with his PL-200 600-1,000 watt subwoofer, since it has the same BASH amplifier inside, as well as even more power handling. He was VERY confident it would sound better and would be half the price. Now, I do know that of course he's getting that subwoofer, which he said was designed by "Dr. Sub" (?) at a severe discount, so in the end he's making more (by selling the other Klipsch speakers with it)... but I didn't get the impression I'd be losing much, if ANY bass/low end frequency by going with the PL-200 model. He said it was more sub for less money, and people get too hung up on the logo on the front (Klipsch) and pay more because of it so they all match.
  14. I've already talked with Mike Embers, seemed like a really good guy! He worked out an awesome deal for me on another speaker system from Klipsch - but things are on hold right now, thanks though!
