  1. Hi, thanks for the replys and helps guys! My living room is about 14 x 10, not small but absolutely not super-large by any means. I wrote in directly to Klipsch, and they are helping me. I messaged their Facebook page, and they got back to me within a few hours asking my room size, and then in the last few days I haven't heard back from them, but I'm sure they're looking into it. Anyway, I think (just a thought, I have no substantial evidence to base this on) that the RF-7 IIs are simply stunning visually and would be blissful and booming beyond anything I've ever experience... that perhaps the RF-82 would be my best bet. With what I'm upgrading from, it will be a HUGE - HUUUUUUUGE - MASSIVE upgrade! Besides, even though things financially are fine for me, I'm not going to be on the cover of Forbes anytime soon, so I can either get a pair of used RF-7 IIs or an ENTIRE new 5.1 system from the second-tier of the Klipsch Reference line that will certainly fill my home with awesome sound. Plus... I have to consider the received (I'm 99% certain I'm getting the Onkyo 818 with the built-in EQ and a really impressive 120+ watts per channel), and I'm going up to a new 70'' 3D-HDTV as well. I REALLY appreciate the input guys, and agree 10000000000% that the RF-7 II's would melt my face off... but... sometimes it also comes down to dollars and practicality. Have a good one! PS: There are a pair of "like new" RF-7 IIs in the Atlanta area on Craig's List (well, there was 3 nights ago when I checked on Search Tempest's website) for only $1,800!
  2. Hi erveryone, Contingent upon the sale of my vehicle which is currently on the market, I will be IMMEDIATELY in the market for... ideally... a pair of RF-7 IIs to begin my home theater cultivation RIGHT! However, since those are somewhat hard to come by and usually audio lovers only sell them to upgrade to something outrageously amazing like Palladium or THX, I would be more than happy with a 5.1 RF-82 home theater system as well. My vehicle could sell tomorrow... or in June... but as SOON as it does, I will have some available finances to finally make this ambition a reality! Thanks guys! PS: Can someone please provide a practical explanation of the difference(s) between the RF series: RF-42/52/62 and RF-82 when it comes to sound-reproduction, efficiency, and immersion? If the RF-82 5.1 system is truly noticeably different/sturdy from the lower RF systems, I will absolutely go in that direction... however, with the cost difference and savings on the lower systems, if those would reproduce accurate and pronounced sound without distortion that would help greatly to know so I can save some money while still enjoying Klipsch quality... however, I highly doubt it, since there is a reason after all for the different models, and going lower than the RF-82's would leave me wanting to upgrade sooner rather than later.
  3. Shame on them...but flatering nonetheless. Ivan, I fixed the link in my post above. Here is is as well... A New Love and Appreciation for the RF-7's THANK YOU, READING IT NOW!
  4. Great post! Thanks a lot for your really insightful educated help, it makes a lot of difference. I'm from Ohio by the way, haha, but I don't watch sports. So basically, keep looking on Ohio Craig's List and Audiogon for RF-7's? Sounds like even if I went with some amazing speakers like the RF-82's, I may still years from now really regret not just getting the RF-7's and blowing my house down.
  5. We designed our living room, and neither black nor cherry would work, but black would look much, much better. I will scour for RF-83's or the RF-7's in the meantime... obviously, the RF-7 setup would be amazing.
  6. Yeah, I figured as much! Shucks... I'm not exactly in a 'hot bed' area for Klipsch. Oh well, no harm done. I'll just have to wait it out until it's time to pay in full, and not stress out about interest on a credit card. Thanks everyone! I'll be back sometimes next year, see you all then. If by that time nothing new has been released by Klipsch, I'm going with the RF-82 system, probably from Acoustic Sound Design, unless I can get a local retail authorized shop to price-match what's-his-name's quote (Mike?) the owner over there.
  7. Any tips on how I can safeguard myself on Craig's List buying Klipsch?
  8. Thanks Derrick and Ajoker, sounds like solid advice. The RF-35's are just the discontinued predecessor to the newer RF-82's? I have been using those sites that let you search ALL of Craig's List in the USA at once, which is awesome, but still coming up short a little bit, plus, I don't know if I can trust someone to be honest who lives on the West coast for example and pay them to ship, so... bleh.
  9. Thank you! I keep thinking to myself... just WAIT, and do the RF-82II's! I have an amazing price quote from Mike at ASD from months ago I'm sure is still good, so I will just save up and wait. Grrr... if I wasn't so addicted to horsepower!
  10. Hiya guys, I'm "back" and glad to be so! Please forgive my duplicate post from another section of the forum, but I'm only 'active' in 2 or 3 threads and wanted to cover my bases, thanks everyone! I ended up getting a new vehicle a few months back when I was deep in research on the new 5.1 system I wanted to get. I am still totally convinced I'll be going with Klipsch, just unsure if I still want to devote a couple/few thousands of dollars toward the speakers now... or if I should get something more conservative that will still be a huge improvement on my setup now, and wait a couple years until Klipsch releases something brand new and ground breaking that is perhaps still in research and development right now? Does anyone know if they have anything new on the horizon? Thanks as always gents. Just out of curiosity... what would be the ABSOLUTE BEST 5.1 system I could get for "around" $2,000?
  11. Hiya guys, I'm "back" and glad to be so! I ended up getting a new vehicle a few months back when I was deep in research on the new 5.1 system I wanted to get. 12. Yeah I don't think Mike would purposefully steer me in the totally wrong direction, even though of course it makes sense for him to direct me toward the PL-200 sub that a couple online distributr's "give away" in their 5.1 systems. All in all, the RF-82's when driven with 130+ watts per channel (especially the front) will produce enough rich sound in their own right. Thanks guys!!
  13. I got the system in my sig for $3135 (minus the AVR) and got quoted the same system with the SW-112 for a little less than $3000. I got it local, but I'm fairly certain you can find at least as good or better of a price if you shop around. So if you don't go with the RB-81 IIs for the rear, that should knock another big chunk of money off. I don't remember how much they were exactly tho, probably around $600 to $650 or so for the pair... I keep wondering about the SW-115, my living room is only 14 x 9 (it's long, which is nice for a theater, but not very wide) so 15'' of raw bass might be much? I don't know, maybe you can never have too much bass as long as it's nice and right and ADDS to the movie/music experience rather than overdoing it. Also, after talking with Mike Embers at Acoustic Sound Design, he REALLY 'sold' me on the idea of saving money by going for the RF-82 system minus the SW-112 subwoofer, and in stead going with his PL-200 600-1,000 watt subwoofer, since it has the same BASH amplifier inside, as well as even more power handling. He was VERY confident it would sound better and would be half the price. Now, I do know that of course he's getting that subwoofer, which he said was designed by "Dr. Sub" (?) at a severe discount, so in the end he's making more (by selling the other Klipsch speakers with it)... but I didn't get the impression I'd be losing much, if ANY bass/low end frequency by going with the PL-200 model. He said it was more sub for less money, and people get too hung up on the logo on the front (Klipsch) and pay more because of it so they all match.
  14. I've already talked with Mike Embers, seemed like a really good guy! He worked out an awesome deal for me on another speaker system from Klipsch - but things are on hold right now, thanks though!
  15. I can't devote any more than $3,000 toward the 5.1 system in total, because I also need a new receiver with the power and featured to drive them and offer the bluray clarity desired... as well as the new 3D HDTV. The RF-82 looks like the best 5.1 system I can do buying new from an Authorized Retailer at a great price.
  16. THANKS GUYS!! I didn't know there was such a difference, and at first it seemed like a nice deal because I wrongly confused them with the newer RF-7II's. Haha, he told me he would only come down to $2,195 PLUS shipping. Lame! Thanks so much guys, you all are the BEST!
  17. Why I oughtta! Would $2,300 shipped be an amazing find, or only sort of good (he said retail $6,500)? Compared to the new RF-82 5.1 system for the same price online?
  18. You guys are looking for it!? Haha, only kidding... alright, I guess I didn't post the link because I was paranoid, but I trust you guys (kind of) HAAAAA! Well, here's the magic $2,295 unicorn RF-7 on Ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/200749722920?_trksid=p5197.c0.m619 I have a message into the seller, waiting to hear back.
  19. Hey all, I have been Googling like a champ for a long time now, and just ran across something that seems to be pretty spectacular on Ebay. It is a seller with nearly 200 ratings with 100% positive reviews, that is selling a Klipsch RF-7II system for around $2,000, which is RIDICULOUS. I wanted to let everyone know about it primarily, but also, gather some thoughts just for curiosity's sake. Although this seems to good to be true, is this something that I should look into (I mean, $2,000 is comparitively NOTHING - I could simply use a credit card for that and pay it off in a few months at most)...? PS: Although it would be a pretty jerky thing to do but I know I can't stop anyone from doing this, I'd also like to ask no one buy this system at least for a couple business days PLEASE - just out of Forum community kindness I don't like the Cherry wood at all, but a $6,000 system for $2,000!?!? Yeah, I don't mind THAT MUCH, I can paint! *Please share any thoughts you have, THANKS! All I need to do is buy a sub - any recommendations are more than welcomed for a powerful subwoofer without breaking the whole idea of a lot of sound for a little $
  20. RIGHT YOU ARE, and none of those reviews in any way dissauded me from doing business with Mike in the slightest! Actually, I am totally aware people are absolutely uncalled for and certainly unreasonable when it comes to doing business a lot of the time anyway - and on top of that, they only take time to whine and groan when the experience was horrible, leaving the I'm sure thousands of other satisfied customers' voices silenced by contrast over the Internet after buying from Mike. Just to add a little more to my ecstatic review of my experience thus far with Mike and his company above, I'd also like to post an OUTSTANDING review of Acoustic Sound Design right here for everyone to read, it's a really encouraging link that basically echoes what everyone else here believes it sounds like! Read it here... http://reviewhorizon.com/2011/04/acousticsounddesign-customer-service-review/
  21. You should have done that 4 pages ago! Very admirable! Lower overhead equals better pricing. I think you can find some bad reviews on just about anything if you do enough searching. With that being said, I really admire your enthusiasm but IMHO I really think you are over analyzing your upcoming purchase. Granted it's a decision you will have to endure but set your goal, decide what you will pay for that goal and enjoy! Hey, thanks for the post. Haha, I agree with you 101% about over-analyzing. I am actually an analyst at my previous career Anyway, although it seems like I am over-analyzing, I'm DEAD CERTAIN and DECIDED upon purchasing the Klipsch (and full system I posted a couple days back) - I am just continuing to look around and research because it's fun, that's seriously all. I'm not second guessing anything, I am honestly just sharing all my feedback and information I gather for the benefit of others in the future as they Google or come across this thread for their own purposes of a purchase once this thread is 'dead' and gone Plus, I like forums and getting new ideas and meeting new informative nice people, it's as much a part of the community as the forum itself. So, I spent a lot of time around the 'net on other forums too, especially in my number one passion which is competitive bodybuilding, followed closely by my admiration for muscle cars and professional detailing (I finally purchased my dream car and fully modified it from the engine out last year)!
  22. Klipsch warranty will honor any price you pay as long as it's an AUTHORIZED online dealer and a 1st qualty item. Good info! Haha, I doubt the Chinese website without a URL address that looked like the alphabet selling their speakers for THOUSANDS below retail would be an Authorized Retailer [:|] *BY THE WAY... in case anyone has been following along on this thread, or not, and you're not sure what we're talking about here are the links to two "different" (they are obviously the same) websites based in China that are selling the amazing Klipsch RF-7II's for about $500 (no, that's not a typo... but it's also HIGHLY likely this is an obvious scam to swindle silly overseas knuckle-heads out of $500 for either absolutely nothing in return, or some assortment of refurbished junk with zero warranty and serial-numbers scratched out!) 1. http://good.winbootsugg.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=8090&offer_id=B005K1NKHO 2. http://us.toolscameras.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=12073&offer_id=B005J6W1T8 One thing that does stand out as odd to me, which maybe it's normal as I'm definitely no expert, is that these companies pull right up in Google Shopping - but, I'm positive Google doesn't devote any of it's resources to making sure their results are reputable. So, there it is... if you're feeling lucky and you want a $6,000 system for $500, and have $500 to blow in case it's just a scam, let us know how it works out for you
  23. Hi gents, Just wanted to offer a little update and STRONG recommendation to echo many other member's sentiments here to CALL MIKE from Acoustic Sound Design directly! I kept being told to do so, and now I KNOW WHY! He was educated, helpful, and spent at least 10-15 minutes answering my questions in a very straightfoward way. He was not pushy in any way, and understood that I wasn't ready to purchase at the moment - and STILL offered me HANDS DOWN THE SINGLE BEST PRICE I HAVE SEEN ONLINE OR EVEN BEEN OFFERED BY CONTACTING OTHER DEALERS DIRECTLY (it wasn't even close)!!!!! He explained to me their website is Klipsch's #1 volume dealer, and did $7,000,000 in sales last year on their brand alone - so now I see how they can offer such pleasing deals. In conclusion, although I haven't pulled the trigger on the purchase yet, I have to say I felt more than good about our talk and the way he handled himself and represented his business... so a BIG SINCERE suggestion to contact Mike at Acoustic Sound Design before you buy ANYTHING regarding audio, PERIOD. PS: I also contacted Sound Distributors, and they were much more on their 'bottom line deal' than Acoustic Sound Design, and then told me they didn't mind that I was going with Acoustic Sound Design, because "Those companies work together." I'm not sure what that meant, but are these two sites the same company, and if so, why did one undersale the other by so much, and why would one company roll over and give up on negotiating if they were the same company? NONE of that made sense to me whatsoever. PPS: Sorry, I cannot disclose any information of the deal Mike and I worked out, as he asked me not to, and I agreed. PPPS: As always, I am a research fanatic... and I say this with ZERO background knowledge, and also realizing bad things can always happen to good companies, but with that being said there are also some V-E-R-Y bad reviews about Acoustic Sound Design (and the owner/only employee from what I understand Mike Embers) on the Internet. Here are some at this link http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Acoustic_Sound_Design Since I haven't purchased yet, only had one conversation with him, I can't comment one way or the other. However, I have had some bad experiences with companies charging cancellation fees and 'restocking' (made up) fees on orders in the past that really kept me from ever doing business with them again; I hope the complaints online aren't true, but many of them are posted as recently as last month. I also want to add another review site that has a better balance of positive to negative reviews: http://www.epinions.com/Acoustic_Sound_Design_Online_Stores_and_Services/sec_~survey_list/display_~reviews/pp_~2?sb=1 Just a side note. I will of course update this thread (and many others I'm sure) after my ultimate purchase with honest and objective feedback! For now... INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN OTHERWISE, haha, I'm still greatly looking forward to dealing with Mike Embers at Acoustic Sound Design.
