  1. well i need a dvd player... it's gonna be a xmas gift, though i'm getting it after xmas.. the limit is around 300 bucks, flexible with price though...i don't think i need progressive scan, cause it's gonna be a while till i can afford a HDTV. i'd prefer a 5 disc changer too.. any suggestions? i was looking at Toshiba SD 3755 (5 disc) Tosiba SD 4700 - (looks sorta problematic at audioreview.com) some Panasonic models any suggestions? r sony DVD players any good.. what would u buy? thanks kriton ------------------ System is small, but working on it... Yamaha HTR 5250 Pair RF-3 Quintet as surrounds... Monster cable all around Digital cable (DD5.1 on some stuff) RC-3 is next That's all i can afford for now, better than most college systems...
  2. hey.. seems like the RF-3's are popular with us college students.. I bought mine the end of the summer (when i got the money). couldn't imagine them in the dorms, that would be insane. i currently have an apartment though and have cool neighbors, so i can play them pretty loud. they r great speakers.. i'll be getting the rc-3 (II maybe) prob at the end of feb. from what i've read, i think the center may be more important, as long as u got something in the rear (spare speakers?), i used my v.200 sats, until i managed to get a good deal on quintets from ubid. oh, and it's all being powered by a yamaha htr 5250, nothing special, but i got a good deal on it. kriton ------------------ System is small, but working on it... 3. i did practically the exact thing u r planning on doing a couple of monthes ago.. used 2 speakers from my v.200 set (same sat as u'res just older crossovers) as rears with my RF-3's and Yamaha HTR 5250 .. it was ok, set rears as small and just don't blast u're system and they will be fine...i bought a pair of quintets for the rears now and wall mounted them, so they sound better...they r temp until i can afford RS-3's, but first comes DVD player, RC-3 and a sub.. i can't afford this hobby... yea well go for it, it'll be fine as long as u don't crank the volume.. kriton ------------------ System is small, but working on it... 4. i had a dented woofer on one of my RF-3's. they were fine when i had them shipped. but i let my younger brother play with them at one time, bad idea, come back and notice two small dents in one of the woofers. couldn't notice a difference in sound quality. BUT, i had a small party at my house when my parents were out one day and of course that demands loud, ear splitting music...that was another bad idea, the woofer blew, it was pretty ugly, got some pictures of it. i'd recommend u get a replacment one. i wasn't smart enough to get from an authorized dealer (went for a cheap online deal), so had to pay 70 bucks for a replacement woofer from klipsch (although i compliment their customer service) kriton ------------------ System is small, but working on it... 5. hello.. names Kriton.. been a reader for a while and i swear i had regiestered and posted before but obviously not.. i've checkin out stuff on RC-3 again, cause it's what i plan on buying once i get the cash.. i noticted klipsch is re-releasing the R*-3 series.. what are the changes with this series? I'm guessing it has that new cabling that the RF-5 and 7 have, but what else.. they have the same horns, woofers, and dimensions as the old series. the RF3-II's cost 50 bucks more and the RS3-II's freq responce is less... what's new with this series, i'm guessing they'll still match my RF3's nicely. I also checked for the RSW's, while their stats aren't up, u can't access the stats to the KSW's, so i'm thinkin it's being switched up right about now.. check it all out... ------------------ System is small, but working on it...
