  1. Greetings ya all I have a Citation II I'm considering on selling, maybe two. I've had Citations since the mid 80's, then bought a pair of Klipsch LaScala's. Ever since I heard the Citation II with the LaScala's, I was sold on the supreme sound. I now have Klipschorns, which are breath taking being driven with the Citation's I go through. I started doing all the mods in the late 80's progressing as new mods were made known. I have one that has been completely gone through, all the mods Jim McShane has to offer, and then some custom engineering of myself added. Many hours are spent going through one of these the RIGHT way. I take no short cuts, and use nothing but the best components available, period. Time is money, so I don't work on these with professional knowledge for peanuts. Wiring is re-done with teflon silver wire, tube sockets are gold ceramic. I prefer gold ceramic, I've used them for 20 yrs and haven't had one glinch on any tube connection or stray resonance. All rca's are gold, binding posts for outputs are screw, gold binding posts, or a custom output connection type a buyer or trader prefers. I'm really looking for a trade for a Dragon CT turntable. My work is professional, with over 40 yrs experience in electronics repair. I'm a reitred professional now gladly Being there are so many brands and types of tubes, that is up to the buyer or trader. I don't include tubes since many can be very expensive so it's not worth it to me to include exotic tubes. Some don't like being ran in triode. All coupling caps are top of the line, filter caps are low ESR, resistors are hand matched with my trusty Fluke 8506A Thermal RMS bench test dmv. This Citation is not for the weak at heart, and the price is set towards a Dragon CT table. Serious buyers or traders need only reply since this is not a tube amp for beginners. If you have Klipschorns, you won't be dissapointed with this amp. I suggest two Citation II's, jumpered for mono, and run one per chan It CRANKS !!,,, be careful of your windows and fine china ! It will shake things right off the shelve's. Cheers !! Wanna hear your Klipschorns really perform ? Consider my Citation II !!
  2. By all means, Jim knows what he's doing ! I personally do my own citations, run Klipschorns for monitors. I highly suggest doing the mods Jim has to offer ! You won't be dissapointed in the least, and it's worth every penny, believe me. I've had Citation II's since the mid 80's, and they are by far the best valve amp I've ever heard after all the correct mods are done, and no short cuts are made. I've heard many tube amps, and not a one can come close to my citation's, seriously. I run one Cit II per chan, in mono, with the early Russian KT90 type 3's. They're hard to find now days, and expect to pay the $$ for them, especially quad matched sets. The early KT90's love being ran in triode too I don't mess with gold lions. They're ok, but I personally like the KT90's better. Now, I haven't heard the new KT90's, so I honestly can't give an opinion on them. Anyways, hope this helps and encourages you to go with McShane's mod kits for your Citation. It's an investment you'll cherish for the rest of your life Cheers ! "Don't worry, be happy !"
  3. Greetings. I have a really nice tube amp for your Khorn's It's a Harmon Kardon Citation II Stereo or mono, rated for 120w's output, or 60w's per chan. I've had Citation II's since the mid 80's, and know them like the back of my hand They simply cannot be beat, period Some folks think otherwise, if they've never heard a Citation II with all the correct mods and upgrades. I've heard just about all of the tube amps, and not a one will stand up to my Citation II I have Klipschorns too So, I can say this all by professional experience. If you're still looking for the best tube amp you can get your hands on, let me know You won't be disappointed Cheers !
