Very interesting! If someone finds that comparison post, feel free to link to it here.

Thanks for the visual aid, Chris! I double checked the connections, and they're hooked up properly. For fun, I recently hooked up my EV HP 640 horns instead of the stock K400, and midrange might be more efficient. With a 5db midhorn drop via Al K transformer attenuators, things are really blending together quite well with the Crites tweeters. I'll do some more listening before possibly trying K77 again. Thanks guys!

Thanks, I'll check to make sure that the positive is connected to the marked input. I suppose my K77 may be the hotter variety. Perhaps I'll have to plop them back in again for another comparison.
-
Thanks for the input! I wasn't sure if the leads got swapped accidentally at some point. I believe there is a marker on the driver itself for positive, a dot maybe?
-
I wanted to make sure I have the tweeters hooked properly to the Crites A/4500 crossovers. In my big room, it seems like the K 77 had much more output. Perhaps I have them hooked up wrong. Which connector is positive on the driver itself? I was going by the leads, attaching the red, non-striped to positive thus far. I have the midrange horn knocked down 5db. Thanks!

Very interesting! I'm not normally playing them maddeningly loud, so perhaps that's why I don't find them offensive. The neighbor is an ***, so I'm limited when it comes to arena-loud levels of enjoyment.

I agree, the K400 provides a nice "liveliness" and tone. I wrapped my metal horns with damping materials; whether or not that made any difference is debatable. I simply did it because it was easy and I'm a tweaker at heart.
-
Sweet! Let us know what you snag.

I really don't get all the hate towards K400. With Crites crossovers in my setup, and now CT-125, the KHorns sound great. Midrange is clear, full, and intelligible. It doesn't sound honky. Getting that crossover right is a big deal.
-
Gosh! Why did he sell them? I just installed Crites upgrades in mine, and can't imagine selling them! Congrats and enjoy!
-
How is a horn lens overly bright? Not sure I understand. Thanks
-
I upgraded from my AK2 crossovers to these, along with Crites CT-125. They really smooth out the midrange and provide better balance overall.
-
Does the HP 640 extend low enough for use in a KHorn? I was thinking it was a 500hz horn.
-
I don't have any experience with that JBL, but I do have some HP640 and they're very nice sounding horns. I haven't tried mine with KHorns though.
-
Wow! Sweet deal on some really great speakers and a nice amp to boot.
-
Lol that's where I'm headed next.
-
Does anyone have a set they're interested in selling? Thanks
-
I recall reading somewhere that Crites tweeters offer some improvements over the stock APT drivers. Is this still the case? Has anyone compared?
-
To be somewhat specific, I have to turn down the region around 4000hz about 2db on the parametric eq built into my preamp. Not too drastic. I plan to try Crites tweeters a some point, but I was interested in trying the ol K77 first. It sounds very good!
-
I did mean tweeter level lol. It's too hot. Perhaps an lpad is the answer afterall.
-
Just to make sure, when I'm switching output taps on the 3654, I'm only adjusting midrange level? The tweeter level remains the same? Thanks!
-
Great info, thanks Dean! I did disconnect the crossover components inside the bass bin, but left the fuse connected to the woofer. I did not reconnect the tweeter/mid fuse, since it's placement makes that difficult.

Thanks for the details, Islander. Your experience seems to parallel mine.
